She was right all along

Elena's POV

I agreed to pick berries for the fresh bread that Leah baked all morning. She wouldn't stop making ugly bread until she got a fairly ugly one. Sighs.

I had to tell her we should get some berries to go along with it because I didn't want to say it's ugly bread again.

After shifting in the kitchen, I sprinted on fours and out to the forests at the back of our home.
Picking berries in my wolf form is one of my favorite things to do and Leah must have known I won’t refuse her before she asked. Generally, I hate being sent on an errand.

Arriving home and finding the Alpha carriage packed right in front of our house brought unmistakable joy to my soul.

Did he come to confide in me again?

I didn't bother to go back to the kitchen to change and just ran to my room in my wolf form to get better clothes. I started to fantasize about his appearance. What is he putting on?

I sent prayers to the moon goddess, wishing he wore something that didn't cladded his body and exposed his rogue physique.

Shuffling through my wardrobe, I picked one of my favorite gowns. An emerald long gown and a black corset to match it. I tightened my corset to push my fair boobs into a more pronounced form. He needed to see this, all of it.

I cupped my breast upwards, staring at the vanity mirror as I massaged them to make sure they sat right. I picked up the basket I had dropped the berries in and took gentle steps up the porch stairs. The door was left wide open, so I entered and closed it.

"Oh Al-"

"You! How could you?!" I heard Marsai almost scream at me in anger and I feign mystery. I have never seen her look this disoriented before. Her waist-length hair was usually braided into beautiful tendrils but right now, she looked like she ran through the wild without transforming into her wolf form. No, Fenrir, I really can't let you settle for her.

"Marsai, what are yapping about? What have I done?" I asked, confused.

“I am Luna to you.” She faced me angrily.

"You think playing dumb is the right thing to do after what you told Fenrir?!" She yelled at me. "I can't believe you, I can't fucking believe you! I trusted you.." her voice broke off.

"Marsai...what is going on?" Leah asked, caressing her shoulders trying to get Marsai to look at her. I scoffed and rolled my eyes. I can’t believe she was still sucking up to Marsai even after she knew she had not the slightest chance.

"She..Elena told Fenrir yesterday on the training ground that I tried to escape…" She pointed accusatory fingers in my direction, making me drop the basket.

"Yes, yes I-"

"That wasn't even enough for you, you conniving bitch! You decided to show him the parcel, just to prove what, Elena!!" Marsai screamed at me, making me scoff out loud.

I don’t get why she was angry about this. It wasn’t as if I lied against her.

"I don't get why you are mad, to be honest, Marsai. The same man wolf that killed your parents, half the council and tortured your best friend, my sister! The same man! Is the reason you left the Alpha quarters to confront me?" I felt laughter erupting from my belly. She wasn't just naive, she was very delusional too.

"I don't care, it's not your place to tell, you bitch! It was my escape! Mine!"

At this point, she was going to lose her voice if she kept screaming this loud.

On the other side, Leah was seething with anger, sending me death glares as she watched our little interaction.

"Just pick a side Marsai and stop being a fucking child, you said you hated him. You don't like Fenrir, how come you are mad that I told him the truth?!" I spat in her face, using my slight height advantage.

"If you were going to keep lying to him, I can't be in that. If he finds out that we were part of YOUR escape plan, he will kill everyone in my family. If you hate him that much, just leave him and never come back.”

“What? Did you think that would have made anyone safe?” She asked and I raised a confused brow. Do I look like I care?

As long as I was able to prove that my family wasn’t part of her escape, he wouldn't touch us.

"I can’t see why you are so bothered about my hatred for Fenrir. He is my mate and my husband. I can do anything I want with him.” She pulled away from Leah, searching around. “Leah also knew! Why didn't she tell him? You wanna know why? Uh! Because she knew it wasn't right!" She grabbed the nearest table beside her, and threw it at the wall, leaving a hollow dent.

A smile crept up my lips at her ‘never happened before’ violence. She must be really angry this time.

I looked at Leah, she stood close to Marsai almost protective in her stance.

"You think Leah here or even Rudolph, has you in their best interest? They just want to have a piece of you." I chuckled dryly, moving closer to them.

"Elena.." My twin sister shook her head, growling in a warning tone and someone I found everything too funny not to reveal.

“My older brother wants the title of an Alpha. He will get that if he marries you. And my little twin sister here don’t want to be just ‘best friend’

"What are you trying to say? That Leah…" Marsai looked at Leah before shaking her head.

I tsked at her confused expression. Why did she look very surprised?

"It can't be...it just can't be..She's my best friend!" Marsai said, more like she was trying to convince herself.

"Pitifully.." I muttered.

Leah walked up to me, matching my height. In a slight second, she sent a slap across my face. Pain blossomed on my cheeks spreading round my face.

"You slapped me!" I growled, anger getting a hold of me. Marsai also looked shocked.

"You speak rubbish to her again and see what I would do.." Leah growled back menacingly.

I turned to Marsai.

"You naive little child. Do you really think someone who feels platonically towards you would take you to a play that talks about forbidden love? Both Leah and Rudolph are infatuated with you and you are too naive to see it!" I tried to make everything clearer to her.

Leah pushed me to the ground before jumping on me and sending the first punch to my face.

"Leah!" I heard Marsai scream but didn't come close to us.

I rolled us over, trying to land a punch on her too but she overpowered me, kicking me in the guts before pushing me off. She raised me by the hair, before nailing me in the guts and then the nose right after she swung me to the doorpost.

"Leah! Stop this right now!"

My back collided with a thud sound before I dropped to the ground. I stay down, laboring in pain. It was no use fighting her, she has always been the stronger one. And I was the pretty one. My fists are not my weapon.

I felt my face pulsating with pain as blood dripped from my lips with saliva onto the floor, I spat out the raw copper taste before staring at her with distaste.

"You should be ashamed, sister. Fight your own blood for a woman that would never love you.." I watched her eyes dilate in remorse before her chest started rising and falling rapidly. How dare she beat me up in front of Marsai!

"Marsai, if you still think I'm yapping…" I tried to catch my breath slowly as I thought she might have bruised one of my ribs.

"Remember what she asked you on your 18th birthday? That, "what would you do if your mate turned out to be a woman..?"
