She doesn't want him, I do
Fenrir's POV
My hand had been placed on the glass of the bedroom window. I could feel the cold seeping through my skin from the glass but that did nothing to calm me down.
I know what I heard, I could not have mistaken it….or could I?
Marsai had called me her mate before she passed out, she did…I know she did.
But then, what if she didn't
I ran my hands through my hair and took a deep breath, barely noticing the person behind me.
"Yeah, what did you say again?" I asked with a deep sigh, "I didn't hear you the first time" I slowly turned around to meet eye to eye with her, though she lowered her dark green gaze immediately.
Elena fidgeted as she pulled at the front of her dress, which made me notice the little swelling on her chest that shook a little when she did that. She seemed to have noticed my gaze because she kept on pulling but I longed to tell her to stop her little act of drawing my attention there. Sadly, Elena wasn't blessed with Marsai's full bosom and it seemed her corset was pressing the life out of her just to show a little swelling.
"Have you lost your tongue or have you gone deaf?" I was already getting annoyed. I wasn't in the mood for a chat and I'm starting to wonder why I even let her in the first place, "if you've got nothing to say, then get out"
She let out a little gasp and shook her head profusely, her dark curls bouncing off her shoulders, "No, no Alpha I do have something to say," she bowed her head, "apologises for fidgeting"
"Get on with it," I pinched the skin in between my eyes in slight frustration.
"I was just saying that I'm a little scared for Marsai, that—"
"Luna Marsai" I corrected her with a frown, "you may be her friend and is used to calling her by her first name but in my presence and the public, it's Luna Marsai"
Elena slowly nodded her head, as if digesting this information reluctantly, which I didn't understand, "Right, Luna Marsai…"
"Yes, so you were saying?"
"Well, Alpha I was saying that I'm scared that Marsai might try to…um…"
"To what?" This girl was trying my patience, patience I did not possess.
"To run away, Alpha," she added.
I didn't say anything for the first few seconds, that was because I didn't want to flare up this time without knowing why.
What exactly is it with Marsai and running away?
Why is she always trying to run away from me? Every single time? This is always the cause of the problems here and I end up looking like a bad guy.
"Run away?" I sighed, "To where?"
"I don't know Alpha…" Elena said in a low voice, "But far away from Crescent Moon it seems."
Ofcourse.
"She wouldn't run away," I started, trying to also convince myself, "She wouldn't be able to in the first place and would have no one to protect her—"
"She'd have her mate," Elena said, "and I'm afraid she might try to run away with her mate though Elder Fiona's help"
My brows furrowed. Her mate?
Anger had already started to heat through me again, she was planning to run off with some…some asshole in the name of being with her mate?!
Thinking about this was incredibly annoying, frustratingly annoying because it seemed like we were going over this again and again.
You cannot leave me for anyone else, Marsai, why don't you get it? Why are you always trying to make this hard?
I looked back at Elena who had been staring at me for quite a while before lowering her gaze. She was quite the blabbermouth if you ask me, but I would put that to good use.
"Tell me, did Marsai say who her mate was?"
Elena seemed to think for a while before shaking her head, "No Alpha," she answered. "She didn't know him yet."
I sighed. She didn't know him, okay…that was a good thing. If it doesn't turn out to be me, then she will never know.
But then…I'd like to know if I really was the one. The lucky one, oh, it would be quite amazing if I was, she would never think of running away ever again.
I started walking away, or around Elena to the little bar cabinet on the wall at the far end of the wall.
I reached for a bottle of wine, I thought it was wine, opening it, a mild scent of alcohol hit my nose and a small smile involuntarily spread across my lip. I reached for a glass and poured a little bringing it to my lips, "Elena," I called her.
"Yes, Milord?"
I took a sip from the glass, loving the spicy and sharp taste on my tongue, "so, tell me how to know if I'm here mate or not?" I asked, extremely curious.
Elena's POV
It seems he didn’t even know if he was or not. How interesting.
I looked at his back, his strong back as he seductively sipped his wine.
"I'm sure I asked a question," he mumbled and I snapped back from my thoughts.
"Umm…yes," I smirked rather sheepishly, this man was so hot. "To know if she's your mate or not, it's not that hard. You'll have to sniff her scent."
I saw him turn to me and look at me for a second with those dark grey eyes before he walked over to an armchair and sat on it. "Sniff her scent?" He raised a curious brow.
I started to explain, "yes Alpha, there's a particular scent that only your mate will carry that is distinctive from any other wolf in the world," I focused on him, he had placed a palm beneath his chin as he listened with an air of slight nonchalance. "Once your nose sniffs the scent, you will definitely know. And also, they will be so attractive and irresistible to you in every way.
"Interesting…" He muttered. I watch him take another sip from his drink, my eyes focusing deeply on his lips.
Heavens! Marsai was goddamn lucky. How did she get to have someone like this? He had the body of a god which wasn't hard to see beneath the loose shirt he was wearing.
My brows furrowed at the fact that Marsai could be foolish enough to not know what she has. To have someone like this, who cares about her, is possessive of her…heavens! And she's being this way to him.
I raised my hands and shifted the strands of my dark hair that had fallen on my face. She didn't deserve him, she didn't even want him.
Well if she didn't want him, why can't I have him?! Yes, that's right, if she hates him so much that she wishes to run away from him, then there should be no problem if I have him right?
I smiled internally to myself. That's right Elena, you should…no, can have him. There was nothing bad there, since Marsai didn't want him.
I looked more intently at him, he was still thinking probably brooding on what I just said.
Fenrir…he may not want to have anything to do with me if Marsai is still in the picture. I wasn't going to harm her, heavens forbid!....but I was going to remove her from being in the good grace of Fenrir…my Alpha Fenrir. And I knew just what to do.
"Milord?" I called and he looked up at me, "Milord, if I may…I think you should know something"
His grey eyes sparked as he looked at me, giving me a look that meant I should continue. "The thing is, Milord…I recall Mars… Luna Marsai telling me that she already has…uhmm.” I paused, biting my bottom lip.
"Speak up, she already has what?" He frowned.
"The Luna has already sniffed the scent of her mate."
His reaction was just as I had hoped, I saw lines of annoyance building up on his forehead but what I didn't expect was that instant smashing of the glass on the marble floor as he immediately stood up, his eyes hardening as he stared at me for a second or two, before..
"What?!" He bellowed in a menacing tone.
Oh, yes…
