Chapter 48 Rescue
A month seemed to pass longer than a year, and I waited every day at the palace gate for Klopp's return.
Thoughts and insecurities took over my heart.
With one month to go, there is still one last week left.
I saw a blood soldier running into the palace, and by the way he looked, it looked like something really big had happened.
When I looked back, I saw the returning Klopp.
I froze for two seconds, then ran towards him as fast as I could.
Klopp still had dried blood on his body and his whole body looked very tired already.
The moment he saw me, he smiled and opened his hands to me.
"Klopp, you're finally back."
I hugged him tightly, and all the thoughts and worries in my heart came up and turned into tears flowing down my face.
"I'm sorry to have kept you waiting so long, but I made it."
Klopp also hugged me tightly and whispered in my ear.
After a while, Klopp took me to see Sarnus, although he was exhausted to the point of exhaustion.
We stood in front of Sarnus, and Klopp held my hand as tightly as ever.
"You did, so, are you willing to give half of your life in exchange for saving her?"
Sarnus looked to Klopp and asked.
"I do."
Klopp did not hesitate, as if that half of the life energy had nothing to do with him.
"Jenny, after you accept half of his life, you will get the same long life as him, but when he dies, you will also die, and in this life, you will never be able to leave Klopp again."
Sarnus said to me.
"I do."
I took Klopp's hand and answered.
"Then, next, I will guide his life energy to merge with you, and during this period, neither of you can have any resistance, otherwise, the ritual will fail."
Sarnus said to us.
Klopp looked at the bracelet on my hand and smiled slightly.
Sarnus stood up and spread his huge wings, bigger and stronger looking than Klopp's.
The bracelet shone with a blue glow, forming countless lines floating.
As the light grew stronger, so did the lines, quickly enveloping me in them so that I couldn't see anything outside.
As they entered my body, I could feel a powerful yet gentle force enveloping my body, as if the whole person was soaking in a hot spring.
That's Klopp's life energy.
As the light that wrapped around me was half absorbed by my body, I saw Klopp at my side.
Klopp fell to his knees and looked up at me worriedly, a cold sweat rolling down his forehead.
The look on his face told me that he was in a lot of pain.
Perhaps confirming that there was nothing unusual about me, Klopp gave me a smile.
Is this pain, just for Klopp?
The light on the bracelet gradually disappeared and turned into its original form.
And that warm feeling has always been there in my body.
The sounds around me seemed to get louder, and I could even clearly hear Klopp's rapid breathing and his heartbeat.
"When you have recovered, I will grant you the title of Crown Princess, only now you cannot have a wedding because there are still some things that you need to do."
Sarnus said to me.
When he retracted his wings, Klopp also fell to the ground in that moment.
"Klopp!"
I ran to his side. Klopp's face was a little pale and he was already unconscious.
"Half of his life energy has been drained away, and the pain he is suffering is beyond your imagination, which will make him weak for at least a month."
Sarnus said to me.
I felt sad at once, and more than that, I was touched.
Klopp was sent back to his room, lying in bed, his eyes tightly closed in sleep.
I lay beside him and looked at him, reaching out and caressing his face.
As we had agreed, we all survived.
I fell asleep with Klopp in my arms.
When I woke up, it was late afternoon the next day.
"Jenny, how are you feeling?"
I had just opened my eyes when Klopp asked from beside me.
"I think I'm fine, except my temperature is a little higher than it was."
I replied with a smile.
"We ...... can finally be together."
Klopp hugged me and smiled at me, but his face was still pale.
"We'll always be together."
I looked at him and said, then kissed him on the lips.
Klopp responded to my kisses, but he didn't go any further, probably because he was still weak.
"Klopp, I love you."
I said to Klopp as I lay on his chest, I should have said it a long time ago.
"I love you too. In fact, the first time I saw you, I liked you so much that I brought you back to the manor."
Klopp looked at me with a gentle smile appearing on his face.
There was a knock at the door.
The maid said that Sarnus had something to say to us.
Klopp sat up, a few buttons on the collar of his shirt were unbuttoned, and I just sat up and saw his firm chest.
Seemingly sensing my gaze, Klopp glanced back at me, and I hurriedly turned my head to look away.
Klopp laughed softly from beside her, then got out of bed and prepared to leave.
When I saw Sarnus again, he looked at us with a gentler look than before, and some emotions that I couldn't read.
"Klopp, the humans have assembled a large army, named the Free Army, and they will launch an attack on the Blood territories in two days. According to their route of march, a few cities that will bear the first wave of attack are Lesdos, Suhl, and Cami."
Sarnus took out a map and spread it on the table, pointing out the location of several cities to us.
Although I can't read the map, I know the city that produces fruits in abundance is Cami.
It's at least a day's journey from Cami, and the other two cities have many crops like wheat in addition to fruit.
These three cities can provide food reserves for hundreds of thousands of people to survive on. It is indeed a good idea to attack those three cities.
But the city is surrounded by plains, and once the attack begins, there will be no place on the plains that can provide cover for humans.
"You are expecting us to help?"
Klopp asked, looking at the map.
"Yes, it's to help, but it's the humans I want you to help."
Sarnus' words took us all by surprise.
"Why? Shouldn't you be helping the Bloods defend themselves against the human army?"
Klopp was as baffled by this as I was.
