Chapter 74: The Impostor

The maid came into the room and brought over dinner, all made to human food standards and tasting good.
"Miss Jenny, please have your dinner."
The maid said to me.
"Thank you, I was wondering when Klopp will be back? Did the king say anything about this?"
I asked, looking to the maid.
"No, but you don't have to worry, the king will keep him safe."
The maid replied with a smile, and in her expression, she couldn't see the slightest trace of lying, which made me even more worried.
"Don't eat that food."
There was that voice again, I looked at the food on the table, the maid was still looking at me and smiling.
I took the table and went to the bed, turned my back on the maid and took a big bite, deliberately showing the bitten area.
After the maid saw it, she did leave the room.
Hearing the sound of the door lock closing, I spit out the bread in my mouth and threw it into the bottom of the bed.
I hid all the food in the corner of the closet and lay down on the bed pretending to sleep.
Not long after, I heard someone gently open the door.
"She's eaten it all, she can report to the king now."
A maid said softly in the blood language.
"Are you sure the pollen of the resurrection flower will work on humans?"
Another maid asked suspiciously.
"That's what the king told us to do, let's go, don't let her find out."
The maid said, and the two left the room.
At this moment, I was very glad that I had learned the blood language with Klopp, although I was not very familiar with it yet, but such simple sentences were not difficult for me.
The room door was closed again and I looked overhead.
To get out of here, the one who was imprisoned, might be able to help me.
Downstairs many people had gathered again to begin their revelry.
I got out of bed and opened the door, and sure enough there were vampires guarding the door all the time.
"Miss Jenny, what can I do for you?"
The soldier asked, looking at me.
"Nothing, I just saw a lot of people gathered downstairs and they do this every day and I wanted to join in, it was too boring to be alone in my room."
I explained to the soldier with a smile.
"I'm sorry, miss, you can't go and participate, you're human and it will make them attack you."
The soldier wasn't about to move out of the way.
"That's a shame, but I saw someone playing with a nice rope earlier, can I have one?"
I inquired to the soldier.
The two soldiers looked at each other and finally agreed to my request.
"What color would you like?"
The soldier inquired.
"I want one of each color, and I will pay you for it."
I said to him with a smile.
I had just seen someone using it in the crowd, and at the other end of the colored rope was attached an iron bell, with the help of which I could climb to the top of the palace, if I altered it a little.
Soon the soldier returned with several ropes.
"They are so beautiful, I have never seen anything so beautiful, thank you very much."
I shouted out in surprise as I took the ropes.
I acted like I liked it as much as I could in front of them, and then closed the door to my room.
Sitting on the bed, I tried the rope to see if it was strong enough and looked like it could hold my weight.
I opened one of the windows and looked outside. My room was on the side near the crowd, a place where I would be easily spotted.
"Miss Jenny, what can I do for you again?"
The soldier looked at me a little helplessly.
"Sorry, it's too noisy here, can you help me change to a room as far away from the crowd as possible? Pregnant women need a quiet enough environment to rest well."
I said to the soldier, the baby became my best excuse now.
"Yes, we will speak to Baron Poulson, who is responsible for the daily living arrangements in the palace."
One of the soldiers turned to leave after that.
Half an hour later, I moved into the well-lit area on the other side, where no vampire would want to come.
I pushed open the window and looked out. The palace was in the trunk of a giant tree, and there were many branches outside.
But the nearest branch was on the upper floor, and the further up the tree, the more branches and leaves there were.
At this point, the people outside had not yet left, and their voices were able to make me leave the room quietly.
With the dense foliage and the fact that it was now dark, I couldn't see where the top of this one was, and in my mind I only had the look of the giant tree I saw when I first came here.
Having decided on a plan, I replaced the iron ball on the rope with a sand ball.
Using a towel that I found in the room, I threw out some of the dirt from the pot and wrapped it into the towel.
Finally, the ball of mud and the rope were fixed together, which would allow me to wrap the rope around the upper branches.
After I had everything ready, I carefully climbed out of the window and hiked the rope off the upper branch, and after I secured it, I climbed towards the upper level with the help of the rope.
The pregnant body also became very heavy, even though I have used a lot of strength, the body is only a little bit in the upper level of movement.
Just climbing to the top layer, I was already tired and exhausted.
But when I looked up, the branches above looked as if there was no end in sight. But I no longer have much strength to climb upward.
After a few seconds, my body seemed to become lighter and slowly floated up.
A blood-red glow emerged from the surface of my body as I flew toward the top of the giant tree.
After what seemed like an eternity, I stopped and stood with my feet on a tree trunk.
I looked around and there was nothing but branches and leaves, and even the moonlight couldn't penetrate the leaves.
"Hey, are you here? Can I have a word?"
I asked in a small voice.
Then I saw a trace of red light drifting out of the tree trunk, fusing into a cluster of light and finally turning into a bat.
Its eyes were actually golden?
"I'm sorry, I can only talk to you through this way, my body is trapped."
The bat said to me as it waved its wings in front of me.
"Okay, who are you? Why are you looking for me? How did you get trapped here?"
I asked him a series of questions.
"I'm Quintas."
He replied calmly.
I almost fell off the branch at that answer when the red light beside me pulled me back to a standing position on the branch.
"What? You're Quintas? But you're not ......"
"He is an impostor, and he is the one who trapped me here, because the source of the giant tree's energy is me, and if I die, the giant tree will die too, his name is Borkana, he used to be my most trusted subordinate, but he betrayed me."
Quintas said to me, with anger in his voice.
"How am I supposed to trust you?"
I asked.
"I know you have the ring of Sarnus' kingdom on you, that I once gave him as a gift and promised him that I would promise something unconditionally if someone came to me with that ring, something that Borkana did not know."
Quintas said to me.
As far as I could remember, it was true that no one had asked us about the ring after we entered the palace.
"What do you want me to do?"
I asked, looking at the bat.
