Chapter 17: You've changed so much

6:30 AM.

Jones dropped me in front of my house, I got down from his car and headed into my house, when I got in I slowly shut the door so I won't wake mom and dad. I slowly and quietly walked up to my room, when I got in, I carefully opened the door and walked in, I thought I had gotten away with it but when I turned on the light, I saw mom sitting on my bed.

"Mom," I said surprisingly,

"Angie," she said and tapped the bed,

"No mom I want to stand," I said but she gave me a hard look, I walked to my bed and sat next to her,

"Angie, you know I'm starting to misunderstand you,"

"What, why mom?" I asked feeling a little bit nervous,

"Well for a start the Angie I use to know hates parties, now look at her sneaking in by 6 in the morning,"

"Mom I swear it was just a party, nothing much,"

"I can smell your breath," Mom interrupted,

"My breath, I know mom my breath smells bad, I haven't brushed my teeth yet,"

"Angie, I'm serious,"

I became confused about what mom was talking about,
"I don't understand mom,"

"You drank alcohol,"

"Mom I didn't, I swear I didn't drink alcohol," I said,

"Angie I am not a child," mom yelled, "If you didn't drink why then do I smell alcohol, and why did the smell start the moment you walked in?"

"Because, my friend poured alcohol on me, see the stain on my dress," I said and showed mom but she didn't believe me.

"Angie, I know I and your father barely have time for you but you need to understand that you are always on our mind, we see you, we know everything that is going on, when was the last time you spoke to Betty?"

"I don't know, during the time she got suspended,"

"Angie that was over a month ago, don't you see her in school, it was a two weeks suspension so she must be back to school by now,"

"Yeah she is mom, but I don't know why we don't talk anymore,"

Mom looked at me and sighed,
"Angie, I have this feeling that you've made new friends, well I won't call them your friends because they don't seem like friends to me,"

"Mom, they are my friends, we are having fun and...,"

"Angie," Mom interrupted, "Just listen to yourself, you don't drink, you don't go to parties, and you don't sneak out or into the house but now you are,"

"How is it their fault mom?"

"I didn't say it's their fault, I'm saying it's your fault because you're doing things to please them and if you continue like this you won't get to find people who will love you for you. Betty loved you for you, Lola loved you for you but when you were you, Victoria kept insulting you, in fact, I couldn't even spend one day without you telling me bad things Victoria did to you. Now you're faking a bad girl's life and she's your friend, don't you see what's going on?"

"Mom please," I yelled, "Just stop it okay, I choose to hang out with anyone I chose to hang out with," I said,

"Okay Angie, but I pray you don't realize what mistake you're making when it's too late," mom said and walked out of my room.
