Chapter 63: Just one decision
As soon as I arrived home, I met Mom and Dad sitting in the living room. I slowly walked to one of the chairs in the living room and sat down.
"It's 3:21, where have you been?" Mom asked,
I didn't want anything to fall back on me so I told her the truth,
"I was at the hospital," I said,
"Why?" Dad asked,
"Betty was assaulted, so I went to visit her,"
Dad and Mom gasped,
"How come, is she alright?" Mom asked, I didn't say a word, I only shook my head and looked down.
"Did you know the person that did it to her?" Dad asked,
"It was Lola,"
Dad and Mom didn't believe me when I said it was Lola, in fact, they thought I was kidding because Dad and Mom knows Lola too. I explained the whole story to them and why she did it then Mom became scared. She became scared because she thought maybe Lola would be coming for me since I and Jones were a couple. She asked me to break up with him and inform Lola that I'd broken up with him but it wasn't possible, Lola won't even believe me if I said I'm done with Jones because she had threatened me before to leave him and I didn't.
Mom stood up,
"I knew it, I said it. I told you when you're dating the hottest guy in school you should be careful because girls would do anything to get him now look at it, Betty has no business with Jones and now she was assulted," Mom said but I and Dad remained quiet. "I knew something would happen, I just didn't think it would be Lola,"
"Me too," I said and cleaned the tears that were about to roll out of my eyes.
"Angie, you can't continue to school there, youre changing schools," Mom said,
"What, no I can't leave, it's the second term already and ...,"
"And I don't care," Mom yelled, "Your best friend is in the hospital because of your boyfriend, worse of all it was your friend that assaulted her. If your friend can do such, what do you think your enemy would do?"
"Mom I promise you nothing would happen to me, I and Jones have broken up, we aren't together anymore I promise," I said,
"Angie it's for the best, I'm starting to not know you anymore," Mom said,
"Please Mom, I don't want to leave, I swear nothing is going to happen to me,"
"Angie the more you beg the angrier I get," Dad yelled, "Now would you please keep your mouth shut and let me think," he yelled.
I have never seen Dad yell at me like that, in fact, I got scared when he yelled at me so I fearfully ran up to my room.
When I got there I slammed the door. I was so frustrated so I walked to my table and flipped it.
DOWNSTAIRS...
The moment I flipped the table, Mom head it and looked up, she began to feel bad for me so she sighed,
"Tom, do you think Angie changing school is best for her?" she politely asked,
"Yeah, it is, if Lola could do that because of a boy, what do you think her enemy would do to her,"
"I know but changing her school, don't you think it's a little too extreme?" Mom asked,
Dad looked at Mom weirdly,
"Sorry wasn't it your idea that she should change school, what changed?"
"I know it was my idea but didn't you see how upset she was?"
"I don't care if she was upset, Angie is changing schools and that's final," Dad yelled,
"But she's in 12th grade it's almost impossible to find another school to accept her now she's in the second semester,"
"Even if it takes paying triple her school fees for a semester I will," Dad yelled and walked up to his room. While he was heading to his room, Mom stood up and yelled,
"Weren't you the one that was so interested in her attending parties and having fun in school?"
Dad turned and looked at Mom,
"Seriously? You were a popular girl in school, in fact, you were one of the most popular girls in school and did it affect you in any way?" Dad asked
"You, I and Angie went to my Mom's house and you heard what happened to her because of me, so what are you talking about," Mom said,
"No, I should be asking the question, what are you talking about, are you trying to say I'm the cause of all that is happening now because I wanted my teenage daughter to have fun in high school?"
"Yes," Mom yelled,
"The Angie I know don't sneak out, the Angie I know don't like parties, the Angie I know don't....,"
"ENOUGH," I yelled then they both kept shut and looked at me, "Dad, Mom it's not your fault, Dad you only wanted me to have fun while Mom never wanted me to end up like her, but what caused all these is that I fell in love with Jones, I said Yes when he asked me out and that changed everything. One single decision can change everything and that's what happened, so Dad, it's not your fault, neither is it Mom's fault, it's my fault," I said.
Dad and Mom stayed quiet for a while, then Mom slowly walked to me,
"Angie youre right, one decision changes everything. It was just one decision I made when I left my Mom years ago, I decided that I would leave her and it had so much effect on my family, I even lost my Mom," Mom said and cleaned the tears that were about to roll out of her eyes. "So I get it, but it's not your fault, no matter how powerful you are you can't stop your heart from falling in love," Mom said, "Come here," she said and hugged me. Shortly after she hugged me, Dad walked to me, "And I'm sorry I yelled at you," he said and we all hugged.
