Chapter 91: A surprise

{A knock on the door}

Jeff opened the door and saw me standing outside,

"Hi Jeff,"

"Hi...Angie...come in,"

I walked in and slowly headed to the living room, I sat down on one of the couches and sighed, shortly after, he joined me in the living room.
"I'm sorry about the way I acted last time. The thing is I...," I sighed, "My relationship with Jones was quite messy. I flunked in school, I couldn't graduate, and then I ran away from home and I, I," I sobbed, "I stayed in prison for four years," I said and tears rolled out of my eyes massively,

"Angie No," Jeff said and stood up, then he headed to me and sat next to me, he wiped my tears and curdled me. While I leaned on his chest, I became more emotional that I began to cry even more "I'm sorry Angie, I had a feeling Jones would mess you up,"

"I was just so heartbroken Jeff, my conscience is killing me now, I killed a man, I killed Jones, I'm a monster," I said and continued to cry,

"No Angie, you're not a monster. I heard about Jones, I know the full story, I just wanted to hear it from you. Jones wasn't of any good to you or anyone, he was a threat, a kidnapper, a murderer, you're not a monster, you killed a monster, and I think that makes you a hero,"

"But...,"

"But nothing Angie, who knows how many more lives we would have lost in America if you haven't killed him, you're a hero Angie, you saved America,"

"You think so," I said and sobbed

"Yeah why do you think you didn't go for the death penalty?" he asked and I remained quiet, "You're a hero, Angie, just forget about everything that happened and move on, okay?"

I nodded my head,
"Okay," I said softly,

"Now cheer up, give your old friend a smile, come on,"

I smiled
"We aren't old friends," I said and sniffed, "I kinda hated you back in high school,"

"Oh really," he said and we both laughed, "How about now, you still hate me?"

"No Jeff, you aren't that fat smelly annoying guy anymore,"

"Ouch though but thanks," he said and I laughed.

I and Jeff became closer and closer. When it's my Day off we see each other, when it's my day on, we text. On my birthday, it fell on my day on so he paid me a surprise visit at work. Well, I and Jeff grow stronger and stronger In friendship. After a year of getting to know each other, he told me he had a surprise for me.

"Okay I don't like suspense Jeff, what is it already?" I asked as Jeff blindfolded me with his hands taking me to a place I do not know.

"Don't worry, we're almost there," he said,

"Okay," I said with a big smile on my face,

"Okay here we are," he said and took off the blindfold. I found myself in a decorated field, filled with a lot of gifts and at the end of the wall, there was a big pretty poster written Would you marry me?
Here is the thing, when you are old enough to get married, you'll surely find this guy, and you two would get closer and closer, you might know he's going to ask you to marry him and you may not know, but when he asks the question, it's always so unexpecting.

When I saw this surprise, I covered my mouth with both hands in surprise and turned, then there was Jeff on one knee with a diamond ring,

"Angie, we've known each other since high school, and now we are more mature, we've known each other for more than a year. And this year I spent time with you, it has been the best year of my life. I love you Angie, and I'm asking you to spend the rest of your life with me, please take my ring, Angie, please marry me so I could prove to you that men are not bad people,"

"Jeff, I..," I said and sighed, then I walked close to him then I nodded my head, "Yes,"

"Yes?"

"Yes," I said and stretched my hand, then he slided the ring into my finger, I looked at the ring with a big smile on my face, "Get up," I said, then he stood up, immediately he stood up, I hugged and kissed him. While we were kissing, a small group of people came from nowhere clapping for us, including Betty. I walked to Betty and smiled,

"You knew about this?" I asked,

"Why not, I'm Betty, I know everything," Betty said and hugged me, "I'm so proud of you girl,"

"Thank you, this is beautiful," I said,

"You deserve it, girl, you've been through a lot of shit, you deserve to be happy. But girl I need you to promise me one thing,"

"What's that Betty?"

"Promise me that we would still be best friends,"

"Betty, you're not my best friend, you're my sister and I love you. I don't have to promise you anything Betty we are one and I love you so so much,"

"I love you too asshole," Betty said and we hugged again.
