Chapter 26: No way.
I returned with two bottles of soda and sat next to Jones, I gave him one and leaned my head on his chest and then he placed his arm me.
The movie we were about to watch was a romantic old movie. Just as the movie was about to start, someone opened my house exit door and Dad walked in with mom. I stood up and yelled,
"Dad, Mom what are you two doing here?" I asked curiously, Dad and Mom looked at each other,
"Uh...we live here," Dad said and chuckled,
"But you said you two went on a business trip to Canada,"
"Yeah, that was your father's plan," Mom said then Dad began to laugh at me, "I knew you'll fall for it... And who Is that wearing my robe?" Dad asked,
Jones stood up and walked to Mom and Dad,
"Hi Angie's mom," he said and stretched his hand to Mom to give her a handshake but mom left his hand hanging, she didn't even look at him. all she did was give me a hard look. While Jones's hand was still hanging in the air, Dad shooked his hand and pulled him close then he placed his hand around his neck,
"Hey don't mind my wife, she just had a long day," he said and led Jones to the dining because he knew mom's action might not be good. After they left, mom was still looking at me.
"I know what you want to say, mom, ive changed and i...,"
"Just day one when you thought i and your father were out of town, you didn't just invite a boy, you gave him your dad's robe," Mom interrupted. "What has gotten into you lately?"
"I'm sorry but do you know how I felt when I saw the letter you guys left? It broke me, I was in tears because I was depressed before I saw it,"
"And that's enough reason for you to give him your dad's robe, and why were you depressed?," Mom yelled, "You kids are so funny, you worry about irrelevant things, I'm sure if you tell me why you were depressed it would be a dumb reason, you've changed so much Angie,"
"No mom it is you who changed. Before if I told you I was depressed you would want to know the reason for my depression but now you saying my depression is over something irrelevant?"
"Okay tell me why you were depressed," mom said and I remained quiet. She walked to me and looked into my eyes, "You see, irrelevant things," she said and went up to her room while I stood where I was boiling in anger. After a while I walked to the dining and met dad talking to Jones, they seemed to be getting along but I didn't care because mom hurt my feelings so badly.
"Jones, I guess you should leave," I said. Jones looked at me and said nothing because he knew I was sad. "Alright, ill see you tomorrow," he said and stood up but Dad stopped him,
"Why do you want him to leave?" Dad asked but I didn't answer him, instead, I walked away from the dining and headed straight to my room.
"Uh... Thanks, Angie's dad but I guess ill be leaving," Jones said,
"Alright, and please don't think about all that happened, it's nothing. You know the way women behave,"
"Yeah I understand sir," Jones said and smiled then he headed to the exit door, "Oh and I would return your robe tomorrow, I changed in Angie's room and my clothes are there so....,"
"It's fine," Dad interrupted, "You need a ride home?" Dad asked then Jones wiggled his car key, "Oh you have a car,"
"Yes sir, it was nice meeting you sir," Jones said,
"It was nice meeting you too,"
"Alright, good night sir," he said and left then he politely shut the door.
Minutes after Jones left, Dad came to my room, he knocked but I didn't answer,
"Honey it's me, open up," he said and knocked again but I didn't answer. "I understand you're upset with your mom, but believe me your mom loves you so much she doesn't want anything bad to happen to you especially now that youre in your final year. One truth about life is that people make the most mistakes the moment they chose to have much fun. You're in your final year and I'm sure youre just trying to have fun, but please be careful," Dad said and walked away from my room door. Even though I didn't open the door for him, I heard what he said and it touched me.
