Chapter 19: A long day

After a long drive, we arrived at the woods. Almost everyone was asleep when we arrived. Jones was sleeping too, his head was leaned on my shoulder.

"Alright everyone, we arrived at our destination," said our geography teacher as everyone began to wake up and look outside the window. "This is the place where we would be camping," she said.

The bus parked in an open space and everyone got down from the bus with their bags.

"Well we arrived a little early so we have enough time to make our tents," our geography teacher said. While we were about to make our tents, one of my classmates raised her hand, our geography teacher looked at her,
"Yes?"

"Uh... Ma'am, are we going to make our tents here, Isn't here a little untidy?" she asked then everyone began to murmur,

"Guys, guys, calm down. What did I tell you all about camping?" our geography teacher asked,

"That we should climb a tree if we see a scorpion," Jeff said and everyone laughed except our geography teacher,

"No, Jeff that's not what I said, and even if I said that it's not for you. You're too fat to climb a tree," said our geography teacher as everyone made a mockery noise and began to laugh at Jeff.  "Anyways, before you make tents you must check the area, be sure that it's safe and most importantly, clear the environment and keep twigs you know why?"

"It could be used to set a campfire,"

"Correct Dora it could be used to set a campfire. That's how it was done in the olden days even before our fathers were born. Now let's get cleaning everyone go, go, go,"

Everyone began cleaning the surrounding, it took a long period though, we finished cleaning by 4 pm, and we made our tents, before we were done making our tents it was sunset already. Our teacher made a fire with the twigs we gathered in the middle of our camping area and we all sat around the fire.

"Alright guys I know you all are exhausted and hungry," she said and everyone groaned, "Yeah I know you all are hungry," she said and walked to the back of her tent and came back with a big basket. "Alright, this basket would go round, pick a snack from it and pass it to the next person do you all understand?"

"Yeah," we all replied,

"Good," she said and gave the basket to the first person, "Make sure you all pick just one snack so it would be enough for everyone, after that you all must retire to your tents, we had a long day. I'm so tired and I need to rest. Please and please don't go far from this area and always stick together okay,"

"Okay," everyone responded,

"And when you all are done with the basket, you can grab a drink from that cooler right over there okay," she said and pointed to a cooler very close to a tree.

"Okay,"

"Alright, goodnight everyone," she said and walked into her tent.

When the basket got to me, I was shocked because it was surprisingly full of snacks. I picked a Jelly doughnut, a very big jelly doughnut. After I picked the doughnut I passed the basket to the next person. I tore the transparent doughnut wrapper and had a bite, it was so delicious but I was so exhausted that I couldn't even eat. After a short while, Jones came and sat next to me, he stretched a bottle of soda to me,

"Here," he said,

I smiled at him and politely took the soda from his hand,
"Thanks but uh ... The only drink I need now is water,"

"Oh, let me go grab you a bottle of water," he said and went to grab me a bottle of water. He came back with the bottle of water and gave it to me, I smiled and took it off his hand, I opened it and drank all the water inside the bottle at once.

"Wow, you were thirsty though," he said,

"Yeah, I haven't had water all day, was really thirsty,"

"Okay,"

"Yeah," I said and took a deep breath.

"You okay?"

"Uh... Yeah, I'm just... Tired," I said and yawned,

"Okay, maybe you should go have some sleep, we had a long day,"

"Yeah," I said and stood up, "Goodnight Jones," I said and walked into my tent, changed into my pyjamas and slept off.
