Chapter 87: I got the Job
The next day, I woke up as early as 7 because the new address on the business card seemed far from my parent's house. I arrived at the place by 8:23 AM and when I got there, I saw it was a hospital. I walked in and asked the receptionist for Mr Angelo and she directed me to his office. When I got there, I took a deep breath and knocked,
"Come in," he said from inside,
I walked in and he looked at me,
"Angie, I thought you wouldn't show up," he said,
I smiled,
"Good morning sir,"
"Good morning, how was your night?"
"It was good sir, can I seat?"
"Sure," he said and we both smiled,
"So tell me, what did you study?"
I took a deep breath,
"Well I was a science student at Lucky Dreams high school but I didn't graduate,"
"Wow, why didn't you graduate,"
"It's a long story, but I was a straight A student when I got to my 12th grade, I met this guy who I dated, he ruined my life and I flunked and...,"
"Went to prison?" He Interrupted.
When he said this I became shocked,
"Um...how did you know sir?"
He smiled,
"Don't worry about how I found out, but it's fine. I wish I could help you get a job here as a nurse or a doctor but without a certificate, you'll put the hospital at risk, but there is one spot I could find for you in this hospital, and that's the work as our receptionist,"
"A receptionist?"
"Yeah, you don't like it?"
"Well, I'll know how much I like it if I know how much I would be earning," I said and we both laughed,
"Roughly 90 dollars per hour,"
"Per hour?" I said surprisingly exited
"Yeah, and maybe you could get a pay increase in the next few months,"
"That's really good, when do I start?" I asked with excitement,
"Next week. Your working days would be Mondays, Wednesdays, Fridays and Sundays because we already have one receptionist. We would pay for free lunch and your taxes, anyways, here is your employee manual," he said, I picked up the manual excitingly and headed out of his office. I called my Mom and informed her that I got the job, then she was so happy for me.
