Chapter 53: Chrismas/ Boxing Day

12:00 AM

It's finally christmas, the favourite day of the year, I had already gotten dad and mom a christmas gift, so I went to the living room and dropped the gifts under the christmas tree, I guess they haven't dropped mine because they were asleep already.
I went back to bed and I picked up my phone, I received lots of wishes from my friends, including the ones I didn't even know.

Well, I slept off by 1:30 AM and by 7 PM, my Dad and Mom woke me up with a Christmas song. I opened my eyes and saw them wearing christmas costumes.

"Wake up Angie," Dad said,

"Today is christmas and we want to make this christmas the best Christmas ever you know why?" Mom asked,

"No,"

"Because this is your last christmas in high school, who knows if you would have the time to spend Christmas with us next year," Dad said,

"Awww you guys, I would always be here to spend Christmas with you guys no matter what," I said,

"We know darling but we just want to make this one worth it," said Mom,

"Yeah, we saw you already left us a gift under the christmas tree and we've done the same, but I and your Mom have one special gift for you, come with me," Dad said, then they both headed out of the room. I stood up and followed Dad and Mom, they led me downstairs and when I got there, they yelled Surprise standing in front of a red car. I could see the 'Merry Christmas Angie' rapped to the car but I didn't believe it was mine.

"So where is the surprise?" I asked, Dad and Mom looked at each other,

"There is the surprise silly, a brand new car," Dad said,

"Oh my God," I said and walked to the car, I hugged it and got in, and then I came out, "I love it, thanks guys,"

"I knew you'll love it, we would keep the car for you and when you're 18, you'll be allowed to drive it," Mom said,

I turned and looked at Mom,
"What?"

"I said when you're 18 you'll be allowed to drive it, youre not up to 18 so we can't let you drive it," Dad said.

"Then what's the point of getting the car?"

"I don't know, to take pictures," Dad said, then they both laughed and headed back into the house.

Even though Dad and Mom started today in such a weird way, I was still happy. I had already gotten Jones and Betty a Christmas gift a day before Christmas. I took a shower and when I was done, I headed to Betty's house. She was so excited to see me especially now I'm in a good mood. We exchanged gifts and had breakfast together when I was done, I headed to Jones's house.

When I arrived at his place, I knocked and he opened the door,
"Merry Christmas my baby girl," he said and gave me a big hug. We both walked in and I gave him the gift I got him, he cheerfully collected it and dropped it under the Christmas tree, and then he headed to his room and came back downstairs with a gift box. He gave it to me and smiled,

"Merry Christmas," he said, I smiled and took it off his hands,

"Thank you, I wonder what's inside," I said and smiled,

"Tomorrow you'll find out," he said winking at me.

Christmas was going great, it was like the best christmas ever. I love to spend my Christmas with my family because I believe christmas is best when you're with your family so I didn't take much time in Jones's place. I headed back home and when I arrived home, my house was filled with lots of gifts, Mom told me, different people from school came to visit, they came with gifts and when they saw I wasn't home, they dropped their gifts and went home.

They were lots of gifts and cakes but Mom didn't let me eat the cake, she said the best way bad people poison their enemy is by giving them food, especially cakes, Mom is overprotective though.

The next day, I wasn't in a hurry to open my gifts, at some point, I even forgot it was boxing day, my only Joy in December is Christmas and new year. After breakfast, I had a nap for about 30 minutes. When I woke up, I began to open my gifts. I opened Jones's gift first and I was flattered. He got me a MacBook, an iPhone and a framed picture of me. It was nice though. I hung the picture in my room and continued to open the remaining gifts. Mom got me a motivational book, Dad got me a golden wrist watch and Betty got me a Framed picture of us. The picture on the frame was taken 5 years ago when we were in 8th grade. Looking at the picture made me remember the day we newly met. I turned the back of the framed picture and there was a write-up.

"It's been over 5 years since we became friends, and honestly, I bless the day we met because it was like the best day of my life. You're like a part of me, you're smart, you're kind, you're beautiful and you're a good friend. Part of the reason why I don't feel lonely even though I don't have a sister is because of you. You are like a sister to me and I feel honoured that I got to know you.
I know this is an old picture but it reminds me of the days we newly became friends. Merry Christmas Angie, I love you so much.

When I read this, it melted my heart. I nearly cried but I had to put myself together. I didn't know how to express my gratitude to Betty so I didn't say anything to her.
