Chapter 89: Bad energy

He took me to a pretty fancy restaurant for lunch, the restaurant was so fancy that it had gold sculptures on each table. We ordered food and while we waited for our food, we were busy talking,

"Angie, I swear you have no idea how happy I am to see you, look at you,"

I smiled,
"I'm so happy to see you too, you look way different from what you looked like back in high school,"

"You know, when I went to college, I met this guy who kept telling me he was jealous of my body, I was still fat as of then so I thought he was just mocking me so I kept ignoring him. One day, I saw him at the gym and he said, 'Jeff, if I were you I would start working out, and all those meat would turn to muscles,' then I started working out, and here I am,"

"Well, this guy who told you to start working out, you owe him, seriously you owe him, like OMG Jeff, you're so hot,"

"Thanks for the compliment, I like it when I get compliments,"

"Oh please," I said and we chuckled. The waiter brought our food, we both had steaks.

While we were biting on our steaks, we having a good conversation until he ruined my mood,

"So...how about Jones?"

I wiped the smile off my face and dropped my fork on my plate because I didn't know what to say. If I say I killed him, he would see me as a monster,

"I, I, I think he's uh... He's fine,"

"Uh ... Okay, I hope he doesn't mind me taking you out?"

"No no no, we broke up already, we broke up before we graduated high school ,"

"Wow, how come I didn't realize that, yeah that reminds me, I barely saw you at our gradua...,"

"YOU REMEMBER when we went camping," I interrupted because I never wanted to talk about my life after graduation.

"Yeah, who doesn't remember, it was fun though, camping in the woods and all that,"

"Yeah, and then our geography teacher would warn you not to eat snakes," I said and we both laughed out loud,

"Honestly I wish we saw a snake, I would have eaten it," he said and I continued to laugh,

"But you're hilarious Jeff, what's so tasty about eating snakes?"

"It takes like fish, for reals it's nice,"

"Well, I don't care how nice it is but I would never taste that,"

"Alright then, but just know you're missing a lot," he said smiling

"Well, I have eaten a lot of tasty things so I'm not missing anything," I said and we both smiled and kept looking at each other,

"Can I say something?" he asked,

"Sure, why not,"

"You have a pretty eyes,"

I smiled and looked down,
"Thanks, Jeff,"

"You're welcome, and I want to give you something," he said and brought out a letter from his suit pocket. "You see, I wanted to give you this letter on our graduation, but I didn't see you, by the way, where were you that day?"

"Uh ... Jeff, I have to go now," I said and stood up,

"Now? But we just got here not up to 30 minutes ago,"

"Yeah but I just remembered I have to get something for my boss tomorrow, I'll see you soon, goodbye," I said and headed out,

"Wait, can't I at least give you a drive home?"

"No, I'll take a taxi," I said and headed out quickly. As soon as I left the restaurant, I stopped a taxi and got in. I told him my destination and he took me home.
I know what I did was stupid but I just didn't want to remember anything about high school. I was really happy to see Jeff but if I see him, I'll be forced to remember my life in high school.

Later that evening,

Ding...dong, someone rang the door bell, while I was in the bathtub. I quickly rinsed my body and tied a towel, then I went to open the door without asking who it was and to my greatest shock, it was Jeff.

"Jeff," I yelled,

"Hey, I'm so sorry I didn't know you were taking a shower, can I come in, please,"

I never wanted to let him in but I just had to, he's not the cause of what happened to me. I moved back a little leaving him with some space to get in, he walked in and slowly headed to the living room, he sat on one of the couches and I remained on my feet.

"I don't know what happened back at the restaurant but I'm sorry. You seemed pretty upset,"

"It's fine Jeff, I just ... Got tired,"

"Of what?"

"Of... Everything, of life," I said, sighed and sat down. He stood up and walked to me, then he sat next to me.

"Angie, I don't know what happened but I just want you to know that I've got your back, no matter what,"

"Thanks, Jeff," I whispered, and then we both kept looking a each other,

"you're really beautiful, and Jones, he was never too good for you," he said, then there was this weird silence, after a very short while, he slowly brought his lips to mine, and just as they were about to touch, I quickly stoop up,

"Jeff you have to leave,"

"Leave, but why, are you avoiding me or do you have someone else,"

"No, you won't understand,"

"Then make me understand, you did the same thing at the restaurant, do you still hate me or something?"

"No, Jeff it's just...,"

"Just what Angie, talk to me,"

"God damn it Jeff, leave my house," I yelled.

He remained quiet for a short while,
"Okay," he said and stood up then he slowly headed to the door, opened it and walked out.
