Chapter 10

(Alexander POV)

That day the vision came to me, I was confused by its meaning. My life had been long and uneventful for the most part, never really finding a place among others like me. So many of our kind had fallen to the side of our naturae that was more animal and less man. I did not want to lose my humanity, and that was why I had found a way to feed my thirst and not harm another human. I was a thief yes, but I was sure never to take too much. Just enough from the blood banks to keep me alive without taking away from the humans who also needed the blood. The look of my last victim would forever be engrained in my mind and I never wanted to see such a look again.
Then, that day, a mist surrounded my mind sending me into a deep sleep. I had not slept in so long that I was sure it was death and not sleep that was overtaking me. A voice echoed in my mind, calling to me.

“Alexander Fischer. I have come to you with an urgent request.” The voice said to me. “There is a girl, one who is the key to victory in a war between the supernatural and the human world. She is in danger and needs to be protected. I have come to you in hope that I can entrust her into your care with the bonding of your souls as one.”

“Why me?” I ask her.

“I and the other fates have seen her future and although my sisters are happy to hope this child can carry the burden of such a task on her own, I do not wish to subject her to so much. They have not mistaken my intensions as jealousy or hatred toward the girl when I truth I fear for her. She is still weak as her true strength has not yet emerged, and her mate wolf mate will not be enough to offer her the strength she will need. More is needed. That is why I have come to you. Although you have decided on a way of living that weakens your abilities to their most basic function, you hold within you a great weapon, one that can be used as a shield for her. If you agree, you will be forever linked with her and may never leave her side. Do you agree?” She asks me.

“I-I don’t know. I don’t even know this girl.” I say.

“She is pure of heart, she is loyal, she is kind. She will be your perfect match in every way, if she was not, I would not have come to you. There is not much time, but I assure you when you are together nothing in this world will bring you more happiness.” The voice assures me.

There was no reason for me to agree to such a request with so little information, but I had lived alone for so long. I wanted more, and I wanted my life now to have a purpose. So, I agreed, and the voice told me where I could find the girl, and when I saw her, I knew. She was what I had been hoping for.

(Amelia POV)

“The elder has made preparations for you to stay as long as needed.” Alo informs us as we drive from the airport.

“We hope to not impose for too long.” I tell him, in not so many words I hoped to get across that we did not want to stay too long. “Owen has many duties I am sure he has to return to.”

I look to Owen, but he shakes his head. “We will leave when you are sure you are ready to.”

It was sweet for him to say but unnecessary. I knew there was a growing threat in the pack that had gone unnoticed by him, and we didn’t have much time before the events I had seen were mean to take place. That is if any of that vison was to come true.

“The elder has been preparing for your arrival for a long time, he will know the best course.” Alo assures us.

“Stay as long as is needed Amelia, we want to help you as much as possible.” Natalia adds.

As it grew quiet between us, I turned my attention to the view out my window and my thoughts drifter to Alexander. I wondered where he could be and if he was going to be able to cross the pack barrier. It was so easy how he slipped into my thoughts, and I tried to push those thoughts of him away as quickly as I could. As much as I enjoyed the moment we shared earlier, it could not lead to anything good. One thought remained though, how had Owen not sensed him? Or the others either? Did they not pick up his scent on her? How was he so well hidden?

After passing miles and miles of empty desert we arrived at an entrance that lead into what seemed to be empty desert land much like we had passed on our way here. However, when the car passed under through the wooden fence it was as if we had entered a portal. On the other side of the entrance was a town that had been completely hidden. I had seen nothing before we entered and now buildings and houses were scattered on either side of us. It was amazing! Similar in some ways to what I had seen before but slightly altered.

There were small shops all around with everyday items we would often find at a grocery store, but complete home-made.

“Wow! This is amazing, where do you guys find all your supplies?” I ask.

“Most things we are able to find from the land and the animals we raise here. Whatever we cannot make ourselves is brought in by those willing to pass through to the human town. Not many wish to go near the humans but a few volunteer to do so once a month. Our pack is happy to remain hidden here.” Alo replies.

I nod in understanding and continue to watch as we pass several small cabin homes and come to a stop in front of the cabin of the elder. It looked exactly as it had in my vision, which was oddly a big relief.

“Please come with me.” Alo said after we had all exited the car.

He led us into the home of the elder, and we were asked to wait for him in the sitting room. I felt my anxiety build as we waited for his arrival. I did not know what to expect from him, since so much had changed. I was not mated to Owen yet, and I was not carrying our child yet either.

“Hello and welcome.” Said the elder as he walked in from the hallway. “I hope your journey was not too troublesome.”

“Nothing we could not handle.” I assure him.

“Indeed.” He said sitting in a chair across from us. “Now, it is vital we waste no time. I will need some time alone with The White Wolf. Natalia and Alo, please show the young Alpha to where he will be staying.”

“He does not have to leave.” I say in objection.

“He does have the right to remain as your mate, but we have much to do and to minimize the danger to others it is best to do this with just the two of us.” He recommends.

I look to Owen and offer an apologetic look. “I’m sorry Owen he is right. For your safety, at least for now it is best if you go.”

Owen looks as if he is about to protest but his face soon softens, and he nods in agreement.

“I will come find you later.” I tell him as the three leave.

Once the elder and I are alone, he lets out a deep sigh.

“There is much to discuss.” He says and as I begin to agree with him, someone I had not ever expected to see again walks into the room.

“Isa?” I ask in utter surprise.

“Hello Amelia. It is good to see you again.”
