Epilogue

**Amelia**

The sun blinds me for a second, but when I blink them several times, I can see the view of Owen outside playing with three small children. A pang of familiarity hits me and my eyes burn at the memory. At the moment I destroyed the Fates, I must have opened a memory in my mind to one of the happiest versions of my life with my mates.

I remember hoping this would be the last time I would have to say goodbye and how much happiness I felt in the time I did have in this life.

“Hey love, what’s cooking?” Alexander says, stepping up behind me and kissing me on the neck right where he had left his mark.

I have to fight back tears at his warmth and touch. It all felt too real.

“Your favorite! I hope you are hungry!” I say as I did back then.

“Starved!” he said with a hum. “I’ll grab the little ones!”

I hear Alexander open the door to our house and a few moments later appear in front of the window where I stood. He grabs Emmet and throws him in the air, making him laugh. One is attacked by Tate and Emmy and I let out a tearful laugh at the sight of them.

This was one of the best moments of my life and I can’t believe I have been given a chance to see it again. I had given up myself to save the innocent, and now I get to savor a small moment in my many lives that will let me go in peace.

I watch Owen send the Emmy and Tate after Alexander so that he could walk around the house. The front door opens again and I turn to face him. He smiles at me, and my heart skips a beat. My mate.

“Hey you. What smells so good?” He asks, but he doesn’t move to look in the pans.

Instead, he moves closer to me and wraps his arms around my waist. “Dinner.”

“Good, because the kids worked up an appetite.” He says, and I raise a brow at him.

“You mean you got them riled up and need an excuse to get them to calm down.” I say, making him laugh sheepishly.

“You got me there. At least they’ll be so hungry that they won’t have time to talk while they stuff their stomachs with food.” He offers as some sort of comfort.

“Yeah, but they eat enough as it is. You don’t need to help them increase their appetite hen they are already eating food faster than I can buy it.

Wolves eat a lot, even the pups.

“Fine. Next time, we’ll get triple our usual amount of food. That way, we will have more than enough food. Okay?”

I shake my head and go back to cooking. “We’ll see.”

I feel his warmth behind me and then his arms are wrapping around me from behind and he runs his nose along the side of my neck.

“You smell delicious.” He murmurs.

“That’s just the food you’re smelling.” I shake away the warmth in my chest from his words.

“It’s not. You smell after the rain has wiped the earth and air clean. It’s intoxicating.” He starts kissing the skin along my neck and my body reacts like this is all really happening.

Why does it have to feel so real?

‘It is real.’ I hear Anaya say.

‘What? You’re okay?’ I ask because apparently I am committing to this last dream.

‘This is not a dream. You saved them and stopped the war. Your sacrifice was all it took to return the balance of things and destroy the Fates for good. Now everyone has the ability to choose their fate. Including you. This moment was the strongest you felt a connection to, and it is where your soul was drawn. You have a second chance in this life, and so does everyone else. This is our real life now. Enjoy it.’ She sounds happy too.

‘This is all real?’ I ask.

‘It is.’ She says without hesitation.

This is my real life…my second chance…my Fate.
