Chapter 50: Epilogue

6 YEARS LATER…

(Amelia POV)

“Hey love what’s cooking?” Alexander says stepping up from behind me and kissing me on the neck right where he had left his mark a few years ago.

“Your favorite! I hope you are hungry!” I say turning and giving him a quick kiss.

“Starved!” he said with a hum. “I’ll grab the little ones!”

I smile at him and he disappears through the kitchen door and soon I hear squeals and laughter coming from outside. Our little ones were typical wolf pups, always outside and always dirty. I glanced through the kitchen window and watched them tackle Alexander to the ground and I couldn’t help the smile that came over me.

It had been four years since the day my new life started, and I had come a long way. Of course, my physical injuries healed fine, but the mess that was my mind took time to get right. Thankfully after Owen had taken me from the hospital, I had only two episodes over the following weeks. They were triggered by small things that I didn’t expect, but soon learned to recognize. With the help of Doctor Cole, I was able to find a way to pull myself out before I fell too deep.

Alexander and I quickly hit it off as I got to know the real him, and he was amazing! It was easy falling for him and less than a month after arriving he had marked me.

“Hey you!” I hear someone step up behind me and wrap his arms around my waist.

“Hey!” I say back leaning into his touch.

“You know they are going to be out there another hour, and the food will be cold by then.” I smiled at that, because it was true.

“Yeah, but they love when he lets them win, so let’s give them a bit more time.” I say with a smile watching our pups play with Alexander.

“You are too soft for them.”

I turn in his hold and smile up at him. “You are just as soft for those pups as us Owen! You aren’t fooling anyone! I know about the trip to the toy store.”

He laughs. “And I thought I played it so cool! How did you find out?” He whines.
“My sweet Emmy doesn’t keep secrets from me! She tells me everything!” I say with a proud smile.

He sighs. “And she used to be such a daddy’s girl, what happened?”

I laugh and push up onto my toes and kiss him gently. “She grew up!”

“She is only six and still my baby girl!” Owen says in protest.

“Yes, she will always be our baby, but she is growing into a young woman and that means she is a mama’s girl now!” He drops his head in dramatic defeat. “Now go get them before Alex gets hurt.”

I step back but he pulls me back into his hold. “Five more minutes?”

Who am I to say no?

Owen, Alexander and I were the first in our pack to be a mated trio. We later found it that it wasn’t unheard of, but it wasn’t exactly common either. Our pack didn’t mind one bit though, viewing it as something to be proud of. They believed that the moon goddess had blessed our pack with a stronger union and that was enough for us. Owen eventually became a little less jealous, but he loved stealing moments alone with me when Alexander was busy. I admit I liked those moments too.

Liam and Olivia welcomed a pup a year after they were mated, and my mates immediately got baby fever. They chased me for weeks hoping that we would welcome a pup of our own just as quickly. Of course, their plan worked, and we had Emmy a few months later! She was our pride and joy! We didn’t bother getting a DNA test done on who was Emmy’s father, because it didn’t matter. She was our little girl, but as she got older it was clear that she took after Owen. Their bond was strong, and I loved seeing them together.

Alexander adored her just as much and she loved him fiercely, so even if we could see who her father was no one mentioned it. The pack didn’t bother with wanting to know either and accepted this new dynamic with grace and acceptance. Emmy was adored all around! A year later we were blessed with Emmet, our little prince! An angel baby and an exact copy of Alexander. Our little prince was beautiful, and I couldn’t have been happier to have my two precious pups. Yet, my two mates were set on having a big family, so two years later we had our second son Tate. A mama’s boy through and through and the only one of the three that took after me.

He was a wild and free-spirited pup that was always getting into some trouble, and I adored him! It was just the three of them for now, but I sensed that soon that would be changing. By now I was able to tell when there would be a new addition to our unique little family, and by the way my men had been acting, they sensed it too.

So yes, I had come a long way from where I had been over six years ago, when I woke up in the hospital and learning what had been happening to me all that time. All those people and places and things I had imagined was my world, where I was a powerful wolf fighting against evil with my mates! For some unknown reason, my memories before the night my mother beat me never returned. All the memories I had were the ones I had created, but I figured it was best that way. Liam would tell me stories from us growing up and it may have been that I didn’t want to remember, so I didn’t. There were no happy times before we found our pack, and I had too much good in my life to care about my past.

I let that part of my life go and tried focusing on the here and now.

Yet, ever so often I wake up and look around and wonder…

Is this only a dream?

What will happen in this version of my life? How far will I go this time?

Because maybe, just maybe…

I never woke up at all.

“Wake up! Amelia wake up!”
