Chapter 49
(Owen POV)
Alex doesn’t react other than his eyes going wide and looking over to me. I want to punch him in the face then and there, but my mate was still attached to him. Soon she steps away, and it was only a second before realization hits her. She gasps and covers her mouth with her hands as her whole face turns red under her healing bruises.
“Oh my god!” She says. “I-I am so sorry!”
Alex coughs and shifts in place a little coming off from whatever high that kiss put him in and waves off her apology.
“It’s fine!” he says sitting again and taking a large gulp of his beer.
She turns to me and I can see the horror on her face.
“Owen I am so sorry! I don’t know what came over me! I saw him and I just… I don’t know!” She stutters out quickly.
I stand and walk to her shaking my head. “It’s ok. Don’t apologize. But maybe…explain…”
I get her to sit and Alex and I wait for her explanation.
“It’s just…well Alexander was there…in my ‘mind space’.” She says in a low whisper.
I look over at my beta who still seems dazed and head in the clouds making me wonder a bit.
“Who was he there?” I ask her, pulling my glares away from my beta and focusing my attention on her.
“Oh, uh well…” She says before her face starts to plush again and she looks down at her lap.
I take a moment to consider why she would be blushing like that, and it hit me.
“Oh my god!” I shout breaking Alex out of whatever place his head was at and Amelia startled from the loudness of my surprise. “Y-you a-and HIM?”
I try not to yell, but I am utterly shocked. I know I am not handling this the way I should but, MY BETA AND MY MATE?! I had fed her stories and images of Alex and it resulted in that?
I turn to him with fire in my eyes, ready to kick him from today until next Tuesday for going near my mate! She stands and steps in front of me placing both of her hands on my chest.
“Owen it wasn’t real! Nothing happened! Remember it wasn’t real!” Now she was reminding me that everything that had happened in that place was just her imagination had run amuck.
I take a deep breath and slowly sit again. Alex swallows hard and takes another sip of his beer, but with shaky hands.
“So…in that place you and Alex are together?” I ask her as calmly as I can.
She fidgets nervously and doesn’t meet my eyes. “Actually, he is my mate also…i-in that place.”
I want to explode, but I hold back. “I see.”
My voice sounds trained and off and I can see Alex sweating from his place opposite us. Then I suddenly remember the way he reacted to her kiss, and I feel the anger grow once more.
“And did you enjoy kissing her Alex?” I ask through gritted teeth.
He glances from me to Amelia who mouths out a silent apology that I catch in the corner of my eye.
“I-I…I” I already know the answer but for some reason I need to hear it from him. “It wasn’t awful…”
Amelia’s head falls and I jump from my place on the couch and rush toward my Beta ready to tear his head off. I chase him around the living room as he weaves and dives behind different furniture.
“I’m going to kill you!” I yell out.
“I’m sorry!” Alex replies
(Amelia POV)
I watched in worry as Owen chased after Alexander, and my mind was racing. Alexander was here too? I was so sure he would be the one character from my mind that I would not have to worry about meeting in real life. Then there he was and as soon as I saw him, I really felt like I had come home, but he wasn’t my Alexander. Now I had sent and Alpha after his Beta because of my dumb mistake. I sat there watching them frozen and not sure how to stop this from escalating into real violence.
Obviously in the real-world Alexander wasn’t also my mate, so I had nothing to worry about and neither did Owen. Yet, kissing Alexander didn’t feel wrong at all and it was as great as I had experienced it in my mind. It would be hard to understand all this and learn to behave like I hadn’t imagined a whole other world where I had two amazing mates. Because this was the real world, and in the real world that kind of thing doesn’t happen. Right?
“I swear Owen I didn’t kiss her back!” Alexander cried out in defense.
I tried to hide the blush I felt at the mention of our kiss because he had kissed me back, but I was defiantly not going to bring that up now. No, I needed to stop this. I took a deep breath and hoped I wouldn’t catch a fist if I stepped in between them. I stood and walked over and stood right in front of Owen. His posture instantly changed, and he stood up straight and looked at me with confusion.
“He didn’t do anything Owen you know that, and you saw it with your own eyes. I kissed him because I was confused for a moment. Please don’t be angry with him!” I say resting my hands against Owen’s chest.
He took in a deep breath and nodded. I took his hand a led him back to where we had been sitting before. I motioned for Alexander to sit again as well so I could apologize and explain my actions. Once he was seated, I told him why I had done what I had done, and he looked at me curiously.
“So, you know who I am?” Alexander asks.
“She knows a lot of faces because I showed her.” Owen explains.
“Huh…” Alexander seems to be thinking long and hard before speaking again. “The strange thing is I feel like I know you too. I am sorry, I don’t mean this in a bad way, but you look a little different right now, but I know I have seen you before!”
Now it was my turn to give him a confused look. “You know me?”
“I didn’t know your name and I didn’t get a close look at you before we were…you know kissing but now that I see you, I recognize you. The thing is it doesn’t make any sense!” Alexander says scratching his neck.
“What are you talking about?” Owen asks annoyed but his anger was about a simmer now.
“A couple of years ago I started having these dreams, and the same girl was in them each time. In the dream…she was my mate.” Alexander admits glancing at Owen and then at me. “It was… you.”
Owen tensed beside me and I took his hand to try and calm him.
“Are you sure she is who you saw?” Owen asked trying to remain seated and not try to attack his Beta once again.
I hoped to myself that Alexander would be smart and say no, but he nods. “It was her.”
Owen sighs. “Damn.”
I look from Alexander to Owen not exactly sure what’s going on. “What? What is it?” I ask.
“Things just got complicated.” Owen says looking at his friend with an unhappy glare.
