Chapter 11
(Amelia POV)
“I don’t understand. Why are you here?” I ask.
“Is much to explain Amelia, but perhaps you should take a rest first. You are still in recovery.” Isa suggests.
“No. I don’t want to rest! I want to know what is going on! Why are you here? What have you done?” I demand.
“Please understand Amelia I felt I had no choice.” She tries to explain.
“No choice?! You have caused me more trouble than I already had to deal with! Everything is different, nothing from my vision has come true and now I am here again trying to find some kind of direction because I am completely out of my depth! So, skip the excuses and start explaining!” I was beyond fuming at this point.
“Ok. Just please try to keep calm and let me explain everything.” Isa says slowly sitting beside me.
I crossed my arm sand waited for her to begin.
“When the we, the fates, discovered what was to become of your kind in the future we discussed many ways that we could perhaps change what would come without completely violating our oath to not interfere with fate. This we knew was too great a danger that something needed to be done. In a sense your fate was untethered as soon as you were born. There was nothing linked to you at all, something we had not seen before. A person born with no fate or future to foresee, a blank slate. It looked like a chance to offer something more to someone who would otherwise lead an uneventful lonely life. Once we had brought Elena into our discussion and we had decided on offering you as the solution, I knew it was too great a task for one person to carry alone. I tried to voice my concerns, but my sisters took my concern as jealousy or resentment, and I did not correct their misjudgments. Because I had a plan of my own.” She begins.
“What plan?” I ask her lowering my arms to my lap.
“They had said providing you with a strong mate would provide you with additional strength in battle, which was true. And yet, in battle and alpha will fight to the death to protect his pack and you may easily become a second thought to him no matter his love for you. He would fight alongside you, but you needed something more. Someone who would be able to protect you, someone more powerful than even an Alpha. Owen would become your sword, fighting alongside you. I asked Alexander to be your shield. Someone to protect you no matter what! Someone who would always put you before anything else because he would have nothing else. I found that person in Alexander. He was wondering aimlessly in life, existing but not living. I offered him a chance to have something special, an unbreakable bond to someone very special. He agreed and when the time was right, I bonded your souls together and fled to earth. I had broken my oath, and I needed to accept the punishment for such an act. Yet, this gave me the opportunity to join with you in this fight, one I could never be a part of if I had remained at my post. So, you see, I wanted to build the strength around you so when the time comes you will not fight alone.” She looks at me with a mixture of emotions waiting for me to react to all she had said.
I didn’t know how.
Everything she had said made me furious that I was so unlucky to be chosen for this task, and yet I felt touched that she did not wish to leave me so unprepared. The only thing I could think of in that moment was she had done something incredible, and I was grateful that someone was willing to go to such lengths to help me.
I moved closer and pulled her into a hug. “Thank you!” I said softly to her.
She had been surprised by my actions but soon returned the hug.
Once we parted I whipped away a stray tear. “So, what do we do now?” I ask.
“Like you said, much of the events of the vision has changed and now there is not clear path to the events that lead to this war. The only thing we can do is be ready! That means we need to push you to emerge soon, so we can begin your training.” Isa says looking to the elder.
“She is correct, we must push your mind to the point of fracture letting the energy of the white wolves to come to the surface. They are anxious because they recognize the truth. They wish to teach you all they can, and you have not been ready. We need to let them out, and you need to accept them as part of who you are before we can move forward.” The elder says.
“We also need to explain all this to your mate. It will be no help to us if he is not aware of what is happening. He will need time to come to understand his role as well.” Isa adds.
“You mean Alexander and Owen should…meet?” I ask nervously.
“Yes. I will help explain my reasons for doing what I had done, and hopefully it will be enough to convince him it was necessary. Alphas tend to be a little possessive and very prideful.” Isa says rolling her eyes.
“I don’t know. This could be dangerous. Owen may try to kill Alexander.” I say.
“Indeed, he may, but there is no time to worry about ego and pride. We must all overcome things to be ready for what must be done to protect our people. We must make him understand this.” The elder says.
“Ok. When should we tell him?” I ask.
“Let us wait until tomorrow. You all have had a busy few days and this trip no doubt has exhausted you all more. Rest now and we shall begin tomorrow.” Isa suggests.
“Yes, we have prepared individual one room cabins for you and Owen. Meals will be provided at when you are ready to accept them as well.” The elder says. “I will show you to your room.”
“I will be staying here with the elder and his mate, so come to me if you need to Amelia. Like I said, I am here to help, and I will continue to be with you as long as I am needed.” Isa says with a smile.
“Ok. Thank you.” I reply and then turning to follow the elder through the front door.
He showed me to a small cabin a short walk away from his own home. It was spacious enough and had all the necessities I would need.
“Thank you elder.” I say bowing to him.
“This may all seem like a nightmare come true, but if we win this fight, we will all shar peace once again.” He took my hands and kissed them gentle before turning and leaving.
I let out a sigh and sat on the cot that stood on a few inches off the ground, dropping my head weakly.
We will have peace he said. Maybe, but how many of us will survive this? And would I even be one of them? Or was my whole purpose in this life to die fighting?
“So, does this mean I have to sleep on the floor?” I smiled at the sound of Alexander’s voice.
I raised my head to see him standing and smiling proudly.
“I see you made it.” I reply.
“Told you love, nothing would keep me away.” He said walking toward me.
I roll my eyes at him, but I was glad that was true. Knowing now that he was truly my soul mate made his presence something to look forward to.
