Chapter 13
(Amelia POV)
Being with Alexander felt effortless and natural which I really liked but also worried me. We had known each other a lot less than Owen and I knew each other and yet we had bonded so easily. Even though I felt like I knew enough about Owen from my vision, he seemed a little different. A little more reserved and cautious with me. It made me feel a little unsure how to talk to him. I understood that this whole thing was a mess but in the vision he had been so forward and attentive that this version of him has me a little confused.
I need some who is sturdy and stable right now because my mind is racing with confusion and fear, and I need to feel grounded. So, it surprised me that it wasn’t Owen who was here to hold me, but Alexander. I felt so guilty that I had not bonded as well with Owen, but I couldn’t help what I was feeling already for Alexander. It was surprising and intense, but it also felt right. I felt safe with him, which reminded me about what Isa said. She said he would be like a shield for me and protect me, which is exactly what I felt when I was with him.
“What’s wrong?” Alexander asks.
After our intense kissing moment, we ended up cuddled close together on the bed in my room. It was small so I was sitting in between his legs with my back against his chest.
“The fates had shown me a vision of my future, and I thought knowing what happens to me would mean I could change it. In that vision I cam here too, trying to figure out what and who I was. To find myself, and here I am just as lost. Knowing what I am and knowing the future hasn’t changed anything. I am just as lost and confused as I have ever been.” I say with a sigh.
“I find it’s best to face things as they come.” He says simply.
“Yeah, I guess I just prefer knowing what I’m getting into if I can.” I say with a weak laugh.
Alexander brushes my hair away from my face and lifts my chin to look at him.
“There is a lot that we don’t know, but we will try and be ready for the worst. But first we need you to feel confident in what you are! We may not find all the answers to everything here, but…” He isn’t able to finish his thought before a soft knock comes from the other side of my door.
“Amelia? Would you like something…Oh My god!” Natalia had walked in as Alexander and I jumped to our feet but before he could vanish, she saw him. “Amelia watch out!”
She yelled crouching and shifting within a second, growling a warning to Alexander.
“Natalia! It’s ok, he won’t hurt us!” I yell to her, but she ignores me.
She lets out a loud growl warning the pack of an intruder and several howls ring out outside of my room as the pack runs to help.
“Natalia, stop!” I yell trying to get her attention.
I wanted to step in between her and Alexander but he pushed me behind him and stared Natalia down.
“I am not your enemy!” He says to her, but she does not listen, and she snaps at him.
“Amelia!” Owen runs in and his eyes grow dark the moment he sees Alexander standing in front of me, not letting anyone near.
He took a step forward. “Let her go!” He said with a growl.
“I am not going to hurt her! Just let me explain!” Alexander responds unmoving.
I had no way of protecting myself if I should get caught in a fight between him and the wolves. I couldn’t shift yet and my powers had not yet appeared.
“I don’t want your explanations I want you away from MY mate!” Owen had half shifted and looked terrifying.
I needed to stop this before someone got seriously hurt!
Owen stepped forward and I pushed past Alexander and stood in front of him.
“Owen, NO!” I say but too late and his claws slash along the side of my face, knocking me to the ground.
“Amelia!” Alexander knelt down beside me and turned my face to inspect my wound. “Let me see.”
Owen and the others watched in shock as Alexander attended to my wound. He ripped off part of his sleeve and covered the wound with it.
“You two know each other?” Owen asked with confusion.
“Yes.” I say with a shaky voice. “He is my mate as well.”
There was no point in trying to hide anything now.
“What?” Owen growled out.
“It’s true.” Alexander says looking up at Owen with an angry glare. “Now can you stop worrying about that and get someone to help Amelia!”
Owen glanced between us once more before turning to Natalia. “Shift.” He says to her.
She lets out a low growl in protest before the sound of cracking and shifting bones fills the room and Alo steps forward with some clothes for her to put on. Owen notices the crowd that has gathered and are holding a defensive stance ready to attack the blood beast at any moment.
“Leave us.” He commanded in his deep alpha voice.
They gave him a confused look but obeyed and left the five of us alone.
“Natalia check her wound please.” Owen says stepping aside and letting Natalia past him.
She rushed toward me but froze and gave Alexander a warning glare. He looked to me, and I nodded to let him know it was ok for him to let me go. He did and stood taking a step back but not moving far.
I glanced up at Owen, who had all his attention focused on Alexander.
“Explain now!” He said through gritted teeth.
Before Alexander or I could begin explaining, Isa stepped into the room followed by the elder.
“I believe it is I who should explain.” She says, catching everyone’s attention.
“And who are you?” Owen asks annoyed.
“Isa one of the Three. The three Fates.” She says simply.
“What do you know about this blood beast and my mate?” He asks.
“I was the one who bonded them.” She says straight away.
“Why?” Is all Owen asks.
“Because she needed him. Your mate may be one of the most power creatures alive, but she cannot fight a war on her own. She needs allies, and unfortunately you are not enough to protect her.” She explains in short.
“He is one of the blood beasts! He is a monster!” Owen yells pointing an accusing finger at Alexander.
Alexander scoffs crossing his arms and leaning his back against the wall.
“I’m a monster? You are the one who shifts into a giant dog!” He retorts.
Owen turns and growls at him stepping toward him ready to pick a fight.
“Enough!” I was not about to let them kill each other, so I pushed myself to my feet and stood between them once again.
“Look I know that this is a mess, and none of us asked for any of it! But we need to sit and talk, not fight.” I say dropping my hand away from my face.
I wasn’t feeling any pain, and I felt stupid holding my face when I wasn’t hurt that bad.
“Wow!” Alexander says stepping toward me and taking my face into his hands, examining my injury.
“What I’m fine!” I say waving a dismissive hand.
“Yeah I can see that! It’s completely healed.” Alexander says.
I turn to him confused. “Healed?” I move away from between my mates and I rummage through my luggage to find my compact.
I open it quickly and hold it so I can see the area where my wound had been. He was right, a soft scar was all that remained, and even that was beginning to fade. I turn to the others in shock.
“I don’t understand. I have never healed this fast before.” I say.
“You are not just any wolf. You are much more.” The elder says with a smile. “It’s time to find out just how special you are. We begin tomorrow.”
He turns and leaves the room. Natalia, Alo, and Isa follow leaving me alone with my two mates.
This should be fun....
