Chapter 29

Jason's pov :
Lia is walking ahead of me, her hair is touching my face as I'm walking just behind her. Her hair blustered by the cold wind and gave me a clear view of her shoulders and the back of her neck.
I started taking deep breaths slowly and lowered my gaze from her body but I got stuck in her hand, the desire to walk beside her and interlocking my fingers with hers flickered to life.
I smiled from ear to ear as I imagined the day when I won't hide my desires from her.
"Ah, ouch!" I clamoured as suddenly a strand of her hair touched my eyes and my palm automatically went to my eye.
"What's wrong with you?" Lia touched my face with her soft fingers. "Your hair…" I whimpered and she tied her soaring hair into a bun as she understood everything with just two words.
She pressed her lips to shoo her smile but her smile wasn't frightened of her, so it nayed and turned into a sweet chuckle.
I should take some inspiration from her smile and confess my feelings to her. I can prepare myself for some slaps and punches but I can't afford to hide my feelings.
It's fine if she doesn't accept me or my love ends up being love at first sight but it's not okay to play with the puzzles of my feelings and kill my desires just in confusion.
"I'm sorry! You should have asked me to tie my hair or you could walk beside me. The air is throwing my hair backside," she intruded on my thoughts.
I held her hand, "okay! Let me walk with you, then!" I didn't throw a glance at her because I was scared to do so.
She didn't contradict so I felt tingling in my whole body as our fingers interlocked and I couldn't stop smiling. I was having all the feelings which romance authors describe in their fairy tales, butterflies in my stomach, my cheeks were burning, my heart was beating erratically that I could feel my heartbeat.
I was caged among all the love symptoms, I looked at her with my eyelids and she was also looking at the opposite side of mine.
We just kept walking like this, looking at the other side and holding each other's hand.
Lia and I looked everywhere but we couldn't find Fiona anywhere, all the smiles and blushes faded away from my face when the fuss took place over it.
"Why is she not here? Where would she have gone?" Lia muttered with anxiety.
"I don't think she'll receive your call but at least you can try, you never know what the future holds for you," I just cannot control my philosophical lines when I'm around her.
She gave me a short nod and called Fiona. She started walking here and there as she didn't have the patience, my short-tempered girl!
I shook my head to abduct the thoughts and feelings for Lia. I have to focus on Fiona, she needs her friends and the way she ran out from here, everyone is worried for her. I should find her and here, I'm being selfish and thinking about my first love.
'My First love' is the title that I will felicitously and splendidly give to her.
"She isn't receiving the call, where should we go, now?" She laid her hands on her waist.
I had no idea where Fiona would go, "I promised her that I'll be with her in every situation, she'll never be alone and I left her alone," she uttered and covered her face with her hands.
"You were not dancing there, you were there to help her only, you gave your best suggestion to George and I'm sure they both will be happy in the end," I grasped her face in my hands and indoctrinated her.
When I tried to make her look at me, I felt wetness on her cheeks and before I could speak anything else, she took a firm grip on my jacket and collapsed her head with my chest.
She started crying silently, she didn't want to show her tears to me, maybe she was trying to hide herself and my arms were the perfect place for her to hide her anguish.
I hesitatingly wrapped my arms around her shoulders. I'm not experienced in hugging a girl, Lia wasn't a crybaby but she loves Fiona so much that she just couldn't resist her tears.
I know this girl better, she is sharp, kind, and possessive of her friend.
Our first hug should have a better atmosphere, the tears of her eyes should be joyous, not melancholic.
But I was still smiling because I was there for her when she needed to hide from the world and hug someone. I was there to give her my jacket to hold on to, I was there to give her space to bury her face in my chest.
I caressed her head with one hand, I was silent because I knew my voice would make her feel uncomfortable. She loosened her grip on my jacket, and I felt she would try to get away from me.
To my wonder, she just hugged me more tightly, her hands holding my back and I just wanted to live in this moment forever. If I could change anything, it would be her tears to a glorious smile.
I closed my eyes and felt her warmth against my body. I wanted to tell the world that this is the girl for whom I'm falling per day more and more.
Lia was perfect for my arms, she wasn't much shorter than me, she could reach to my ears easily. She had bent her neck and knees to hide her face. I beamed through my closed eyes and reshuffled my arms from her head and shoulder to her back.
We dwelled at that moment for a while, I could feel that she had stopped crying. Abruptly her phone beeped and I opened my eyes.
My subconscious indicated to me that the awkward term is going to arrive soon.
She slowly loosened her hold from me and checked her phone. I also took my hands away from her and waited for her to say something.
After a minute, she gave me her phone.
I took it without querying about it, Fiona had texted her something. It felt a bit easy to read that she was home and wanted some alone time.
Lia was gloomy to read the message because she wanted to be with her but Fiona didn't want anyone to be with herself.
"If I would have been in her place, perhaps I would have also done the same. When you have spent your whole life lonely, without friends, you still need to be lonely to deal with the pain."
"What? You had no friends..?"
She gazed at me with embarrassment, "no, Fiona is my first friend and you, um, you are my second friend."
Oh, God! That means I won't need to struggle with the girlfriend's best friend stuff, as every girl has a male best friend and her boyfriend has to suffer because of her best friend.
Just like in movies, novels, and dramas how a girl's best friend has a secret crush on her and when she finds a boyfriend, that best friend becomes the challenge for her boyfriend to gain a victory.
I was so pleased to hear that she had no male best friend.
"It's alright, Lia! It's better to have no friends rather than having fake friends. And now, you have friends, don't you?" I tried to cheer her up.
She smiled, "Yes! Now, you should go to your friends, George also needs you."
"I'll but after dropping you at your place," I offered her my handkerchief while taking my phone from my pocket so that we won't have eye contact and she wouldn't feel uncomfortable.
She took it and I called Alex to tell him that Fiona has gone to her home and I'll meet them after dropping her home.
"Shall we go?" I asked her and she started walking towards me.
We went to the parking area, I took the helmet and looked at her, her hair was still in a bun. I like her open hair but I can't untie her hair.
I gave her a helmet and wore my helmet, too. I really should drive a car next time. She didn't tell me but she was uncomfortable on the bike while carrying her dress.
"Where do you live?"
"In your neighbourhood."
"What?" I was astonished to hear that.
"Yes! Now, may I sit on your bike?" She rolled her eyes. Now, she was alright because her tantrums began.
"Sure!" I started my bike and drove to where she told me.
She asked me to stop at a mansion, it was looking so fascinating and huge from the outside. "Do you live here?"
She exhaled, "I've got your questions. Yes, I belong to this rich family, my father is the second wealthiest man in this town but I still work at a restaurant and live my life like a beggar because money doesn't fancy me and I want to be independent," she gave me one more reason to love her.
"Alright! Thank you for coming today and not slapping me!"
"Why will I slap you?"
"I know, I've irritated you a lot by not forcing George to follow Fiona."
Lia blushed and giggled, she looked so cute while blushing, "okay! Bye!" She paused for a second, "thank you!" She mumbled and took a step back while smiling.
She had already started walking towards her home and I was staring at her like a maniac.
I forgot to ask the reason, "Why?" I shouted.
She turned back and looked at me, she didn't say anything but put her crossed arms on her shoulder and made a pose of hugging herself.
