Chapter 81

George's pov :
"It's been eighteen hours, George." Fiona suppressed her lips and put her hand on the glass window. I was also worried about the fact but couldn't do anything. "George, she tilted her head a bit." She opened the door in excitement and finally, I could see a smile on her face.
"Please, wait outside! I've called the doctor, he is coming." The nurse stopped her but instead of being sad, she was smiling. Her mother was not in a coma, and that was a big deal for her.
She hid her face in my chest. "You were right, my mom will be alright." I could feel her lips stretching against my skin and I thanked God for showing some mercy on us.
"Yes, Ana! Look, the doctor has also come, you can meet her when he comes out." I rubbed her back slowly and sighed in relief.
Five minutes later, the doctor came out holding a file. "Congratulations! Your mother is doing better now. You can meet her but please, don't make her too emotional to cry because her mind needs rest and any pressure on her mind will affect her body."
"Thank you, doctor! I'll take care of her." She quickly spilled out and rushed over to her mom.
"Mom! How are you feeling now?" She held her mother's hand and pressed her lips on her hand.
"I'm fine, honey." Her mother smiled to calm down her daughter. Maybe she knew that she was so anxious for her.
I was standing there like a statue and didn't know what to say to her mother. Though I was happy to see them smiling, the burden of the weight on my heart was lessening.
"George!" Her mum diverted her gaze towards me.
"Huh?" The only word I could manage to speak.
Ana's mom called me? I was shocked because I didn't expect her to talk to me in that situation. She was smiling at me, and my eyebrows were raised in surprise.
"Thank you for taking care of my daughter!" She gave me a grateful smile.
Like every other boyfriend, I also wanted to meet her parents but not in the way, I had to meet them. When one was not present in their lives anymore, and the last one was laying on the hospital bed, fighting the battle between life and death. It was horrible to experience that situation, and I never wanted to be her moral support because I never wanted her to be in that kinda situation again.
"Ahem!" Confusion floated over me so I cleared my throat. "I didn't expect to meet you here." I bounced my right shoulder and indicated towards the hospital. "And the thing of being with your daughter will be forever." I tried to smile and retorted with sincerity.
Her mom returned a sweet smile and nodded a little to show her faith in me. Though it wasn't the first time that I was meeting her, I've met her before when I went to her home to give her the assignments and notes of Jay but after being an important part of her daughter's life, it was the first time that I was seeing her.
"You know, I always knew that you both love each other but there is something that's stopping you from being together, and when I got to know about your official relationship status, I was the happiest person on the earth. Trust me, I was."
"Mum! We can talk about this later, too. Please, don't speak that much for now!" Ana shushed her mom and I could feel happy watching her love for her mom.
"Oh, honey! Please! I'm alright now. I asked you thousands of times to invite him for dinner but you never did. And now, when I'm finally meeting him, you can't stop me from talking." Her mom scowled and averted her attention from her daughter to me.
The doctor didn't refuse to talk, he said that we shouldn't make her cry, and the way our conversation was going, it was lightening the mood. "Yes, um?" I didn't know her name yet.
"You can call me Gina."
"Yes, Gina! You are right! The doctors didn't say that you can't talk." I went to her head side and lowered my head to whisper in her ear. "Your daughter is lying."
I looked at Fiona smirking, her jaw dropped on the floor. "I heard that. You ass-" she narrowed her eyes on me.
Gina and I started chuckling at her expressions, and I winked at her to tease her. It's been a very long time since we fought or teased each other, we were being so lovey-dovey and caring. I forgot how we used to banter and were ready to cut the neck of each other with our swords.
"So you are on his team, mom! You are my mom, right?" She threw her arms on her hips and glared at us.
If we would have been alone, I would have kissed her. She was looking so fucking sexy in that angry mode. After that night, we couldn't even talk about it. She received the call from the doctors in the morning, and we just packed our bags and rushed over to the airport.
"Don't worry, dear! I'm on your side."
"What was my mom doing here?" It was the first question that came to my mind after seeing her here.
"I'm sorry but eavesdropping isn't a good thing to do. And I don't like stranger's help." She blurted out without asking her who she was.
My mother's eyes widened for a second but then, she giggled. "Seems like my stupid son hasn't shown his beautiful mother's picture to her girlfriend yet." She muttered with gritted teeth, shooting me a death glare but didn't forget to give a sweet smile to my girlfriend.
Her face again dropped and she hid her face quickly with her palms as the embarrassment washed over her. She was looking so cute and funny so I forgot that my mom was standing there ready to kill me and I started laughing.
"Shut your fucking mouth, Georgia!" My mom yelled as she started walking toward me. I hated that nickname, she always used that name for me whenever she was pissed off at me.
Now, Fiona removed her hands and started cackling. "Georgia! Wow! What a sweet name! Haha-"
My mom never used that name for me in front of my friends but it wasn't going to be a secret anymore. She was loving my girlfriend more than me, perhaps she had already accepted her into our family.
"Fiona!" Her mom warned her to stop laughing.
The hospital room had become a laughing room and it was feeling like home because of the presence of our mothers.
My mom snatched my ear and pulled it hard. "Georgia, Dear! Why didn't you show your mom's picture to your sweet girlfriend?"
Wow! I couldn't believe that my mom was already calling Fiona sweet even though she talked to her rudely just a moment ago. And that bloody name! Fuck, I hate that.
"Mom, will you please stop calling me that? And what is this? Why didn't you tell me that you were coming?" I whimpered while trying to remove her hold on my ear. Jeez! It was painful.
"Of course, I'll come to see your future mother-in-law. We are going to be a family one day." She rolled her eyes and put the flowers on a table. "Now you tell me, why were you teasing my lovely girl?"
I looked at Fiona who was enjoying the scene, she crossed her arms, a winning smile on her face. Well, I could call that a smirk!
"Fine, I won't! Now, please leave my ear. It's hurting." I pleaded, making a puppy face.
"It should." She finally removed her grasp from my ear.
My mom took the flowers and gave them to Ana's mom. "The nurse called me to inform me that you regained consciousness, my son is just useless. He didn't even call me. Please, forgive him if he made any mistake! I don't know how your daughter is tolerating him?!"
I smacked my forehead, what the fuck! It's how she should behave and talk about me to my girlfriend's mom?! The day I told her about Fiona, she was more than happy. It would be an understatement if I would say that she was excited to see her, meet her, and wanted to make her her daughter-in-law.
"Now it'll be fun, baby." Ana came to me and mumbled in my ear. As if I didn't know that that BABY was her sarcasm!
"Ana!" I warned her.
"What did you just call her?" My mom pointed her finger at me, squinting her eyes.
"Ana." I shrugged.
My mom sighed and shook her head in disbelief. "She is your girlfriend, you should use some sweet words like baby, darling, sweetie, sweetheart-"
"Mum, it's our personal choice and decision. Can you please stop nagging and being all sweetie pie to her? I'm your son, not your stepson." I frowned and glanced at my girl whose cheeks were as pink as strawberries.
Fiona didn't look like her mother, maybe she got her curly hair and looks from her father. I loved seeing her blushing. For a minute, I wanted my mom to say something so that she could feel shy and blush for a long while.
"Fine!" My mum pouted. "Darling, please come here and sit with us!" She excitedly requested Fiona.
My girl shyly sat beside my mum and I could frame it as my happy future. Though I won't get any attention from my mother because of my dear girlfriend. Fuck, I was feeling envious of Fiona.
"I'm sorry, I didn't know that you are George's mom. I'm sorry for misbehaving." Ana mumbled in a low voice and lowered her gaze.
"It's not your mistake, darling! I thought that my son would have at least shown his family's pictures to you but turns out that he is just a piece of trash." My mom passed me the disgusting look as if I was really trash!
"I'm going to call my friends and for your kind information, the girl sitting beside you hasn't taken a bath yet so you better send her home to freshen up and take some rest. So I'll be right back after five minutes to drive her home." I came out of the room where I was getting taunted and insulted each second by my mom but I didn't leave the chance to mock my dear girl before leaving.
It slipped from my mind to inform everyone that her mom regained consciousness and she wasn't in danger anymore. I dialed Jay's number and he quickly responded. "Hey, is she okay now?"
"Yup, she woke up just an hour ago. And thanks for handling your question machine last night."
"Back bitching, huh?" He giggled and so did I.
"No, I can say it on her face, too," I stated as a matter of fact. "By the way, where is Alex, and what happened in the final round?" I remembered about everyone but I was just waiting to get the situation better.
"You should congratulate Theo and Alex is sleeping in my home. The day he got drunk, he drank like he was never going to see the alcohol again so it's showing the bad effect on his body but the doctors said that he'll be alright in a few days."
"Okay! I'll come to see him tomorrow. I'm as exhausted as fuck today, and please, don't forget to tell your girlfriend that we directly came to the hospital from our long flight so we need some rest, and don't disturb us!"
He didn't say anything for a moment, I thought he disconnected the call. "Hello?"
"Yeah! I'll tell her." There was something off with him, he hung up the call. I didn't know what was wrong with that guy?!
