Chapter 72
Jason's pov :
"Guys can we just stop discussing Theo and Barbie's relationship?" I was fucking fed up with all the shits they were blabbering. Why do they need to discuss it? Can't we ignore the fact that she flew almost 9000 miles to meet Theo and confess her love?
Okay! It was a romantic thing and I was happy for her, I precisely was! I was happy to see that she got what she wanted but there were so many things that were prickling me, that were hard to digest.
"Cool!" George raised his hands in defence. "Why are you looking pissed off?"
"Are you being possessive of Barbie again?" Alex assumed the thing that I guess everyone was thinking but he said so everyone's gazes were stuck at me and everyone stopped eating.
It wasn't like that was the last question I was expecting from my friends and especially, from my girlfriend! I knew she didn't ask me any questions but her eyes were, certainly!
I sighed to ease my rage. "Not at all! It's just that we shouldn't discuss it. I mean we are here to enjoy our meal and have fun, right?"
"Okay! That's right! Let's finish our lunch and take some rest before the night! After all, we are finally gonna attend a party here in Singapore." Alex showed his excitement for the night and everyone agreed with him.
"Why aren't you eating something?" We never had any kinda food conversation like did you eat or not, maybe we never felt like caring for the food. She took very well care of her body as being a doctor was her only big dream and she could talk about her futile dream for hours.
I took a bite of my crab with black pepper sauce and showed her that I was eating. "Mmm...It's yum!"
Lia smiled while nodding half-heartedly. We finished our lunch and strode to drive our cars to the resort.
I wasn't in the mood for flirting or chatting but I didn't want to show it more to anyone so as soon as Lia made herself comfortable in the passenger seat, I pulled her closer and claimed her lips.
She kissed me back and I could feel the load in my mind disappearing. My hands traced her cleavage and thighs beneath her clothes, a harmonious moan tore through her throat.
"Wait!" She managed to say while stopping me by putting her hands on my hands.
I opened my eyes to see what was wrong with her! "What?" I had to ask when she stared at me with a confused look in her eyes.
"What's wrong with you?"
"What's wrong with me…?" I shook my head in disbelief. "What's wrong with you?"
"I can see you are tense so share it with me whatever you are thinking about." She held my hands in hers tightly and stroked my palms with her thumbs.
If I wouldn't have been in this state, I would have given in at that moment and would have kissed her hard. That touch could drive me crazy, that soft skin could make me feel at peace but today was not the right time.
"Nothing, baby!" I kissed the tip of her nose smiling and started driving to the resort. Arguing with her was the last thing on my mind, and to be honest, I couldn't afford to fight with her so I chose to pretend that everything was alright and me, too.
She didn't ask again and the whole ride was spent in awkward silence. "You know you can count on me always." She uttered before leaving the elevator and heading to her room.
I knew I couldn't hide anything from that girl, and the way I was behaving was more of an asshole. I should handle my insecurities and feelings, she didn't deserve that behaviour. I gawked at her, walking away from me without any expectation of being taken care of by me.
"In which room, Barbie is staying?" I asked the receptionist who was doing something on the screen of her computer. When she looked up to see who it was, she immediately stood up from her chair and bowed to me. "In 307, sir!"
At least, I deserved to know why she did that to me. Why did she lie to me?
I nodded as she answered me. My eyebrows arched up when I realized it's Theo's room. "What's Theo's room number?"
The Chinese girl's eyes widened in surprise as if I asked her something very disgusting. "307, sir?" She shortly peeled off that look from her face when she realized that she was asking instead of answering.
I ignored her and left her with her questions alone. Closing the door of my room with a harsh thud, I made my way to the bed.
Here, my mind was out of my control and she was probably spending some very good and alone time with her new boyfriend. I was her brother, we never kept secrets from each other.
And Theo, I was his damn best friend. He hid his love from me and told Alex before telling everyone else. I needed an explanation from both of them.
"Since fifth grade! Since fifth grade!" The words echoed in my mind and I felt ridiculous. They had the reasons for keeping their love a secret but I deserved to know the reasons. Was I the villain of their love story?
Till yesterday, Barbie was dating that photographer and then suddenly she came to Singapore just to spend some time with Theo or maybe confessing or maybe something else. It was unbelievable for me! She didn't even tell me before coming here, and on that note, I couldn't ignore that it was the first time that she didn't tell me before leaving the home.
And I couldn't handle everything at the same time. I knew that I was again behaving like a jerk but I couldn't resist the urge to know the truth. Whatever they had, I had a right to know as a brother and a best friend.
I didn't know how George and Alex were handling everything so easily. I was sure they also didn't know the whole story, weren't they feeling like I was feeling?
Wrong?
After all, we were friends and Theo was not only my friend. How could they behave like being so happy for Theo and Barbie when they didn't even know how things were going?
To me, everything and everyone seemed a mess, a mystery that I needed to solve for my peace of mind.
It wasn't like all my attention was on my family only. I knew Alex was also suffering from heartbreak and that must not be easy, he was again on the pretending game, pretending to be okay. Even if Bella was not the right girl for him, he loved her sincerely and truly. I was sure he was hurt, too.
Well, that's what I was also learning from him. Pretending! Never to even show, he missed his mother but he couldn't even meet her because of his horrible father. The last time, when he tried to meet his mom, his dad made his mother suffer through a great loss in her business.
Though his mom didn't mention it to him, his dad threatened him that if he ever tried to meet her, he would make her lose everything.
He had the best mom in the world but the dilemma of not seeing her, meeting her made the situation worse for Alex.
George's life was going very smoothly and pretty much good. His family was awesome, he had no problems with his family unlike we had! He suffered through a horrible heartbreak but since Fiona entered into his life as a girlfriend, everything was perfect for him!
Theo and Alex had dad issues while I was the only one who had mom issues. To be honest, Lia's mom was not too much. She still cared for her, loved her, and gave her time to her daughter.
Just because Lia was a bit different from other girls, her mom worries too much for her. That's normal! If a rich daughter doesn't use her father's money, works at a restaurant, doesn't dress like a girl, the mother obviously would be worried for her.
Money isn't something to be saved when you have enough to use without thinking. Lia only needs to learn to use what she got and that's it!
I was too exhausted to wake up doing overthinking so I shooed away all the thoughts and slept for hours.
When my phone rang and I saw the name of Alex on the screen, I yawned and sat in my bed. Before I could receive the call, the ring ended. I opened the notification which was showing two messages from Alex in the group.
"Wonder club at 9 pm and don't be late! Committed people, get your ass on time!"
"Location!"
So he had decided the location himself and we didn't have to bother to find the club so he sent the location. The clock was showing 7 pm so I had enough time to get ready for the party.
At that time, I wasn't ready for partying but I was ready to get the answers to my question. Grabbing a towel, I moved my ass to take a cold shower.
After taking a longer shower than usual to calm my nerves, I dried my hair with the help of a hairdryer. Snapped at the small-sized cupboard of the room, it wasn't a small one actually, it's just that I had a giant-sized wardrobe in my room in Los Angeles so it seemed so small to me.
I picked up my Gucci maroon bomber jacket and Tommy Hilfiger white plain t-shirt, and tight black jeans of Levi's would go better with it. So I got ready in my coolest clothes and carried my Rolex watch with that outfit. When it comes to sneakers, Adidas's white lace-up sports are my favourite so I took it.
Throwing the last glance in the mirror, I left my room and knocked on my girlfriend's room. I had to make things easy for her, I couldn't be more of a jerk to her.
