Can I Ask For a Favour?
Katherine walked fast trying to catch up with Mr Olsen's pace. Today is the first time she will be following Mr Olsen to a meeting as his assistant. "It's not time for the meeting. Why is he in a haste?" Katherine wondered walking faster. By the time they got to the elevator, Katherine was panting. Mr Olsen just glanced at her and said nothing. "Sir, we are not late for the meeting and you were walking as though we are like thirty minutes late," Katherine complained when she was able to catch her breathe. "I realise you are being too late so I decided to make you exercise. I'm a good boss," Mr Olsen said. "It's not in your position to praise yourself," Katherine mumbled. "Were you talking to me?" Mr Olsen questioned even though he heard her clearly. Katherine nodded in negativity.
The meeting and negotiation went well with Katherine not saying anything. She was just pretending to jot down somethings so that she won't sleep off or be seen as lazy by the other business contemporary. By the time they ended the meeting, it was past lunch. Another car was waiting for them outside. "Good day sir," the driver greeted and handed the car's key over to Mr Olsen. Mr Olsen just nodded at the driver. "Hop in," Mr Olsen said to Katherine before entering the car. Katherine felt lost. She didn't know whether to enter into the front seat or back seat. She just stood in between the doors and stared like a moron.
Mr Olsen chuckled lightly in the car. He wound down the glass. "Sir, front or back?" Katherine questioned. "Front," Mr Olsen said. Katherine entered and used the seatbelt looking straight forward. Mr Olsen glanced at Katherine before driving off. Katherine noticed he wasn't driving in the company's direction so she questioned him. "You are useless as an assistant so I want to dispose you off," Mr Olsen said casually with an evil grin.
Katherine was supposed to be afraid but somehow, she felt Mr Olsen won't do that. Over the months she has spent with him, she discovered he isn't as tough as he present himself to people. He also has insecurity. "Thank God. Being disposed by a rich man means you will come back to this world rich. I want that. I'm tired of working for people," Katherine said. Mr Olsen frowned. He didn't expect her response. He decided to begin to overspeed in order to scare her. Instead of being scared as Mr Olsen envisioned, Katherine screamed happily urging him to drive faster. When Mr Olsen realise Katherine will only have both of them killed, he slowed down. "Why did you stop? Are you afraid of death?" Katherine questioned turning her head slowly to look at Mr Olsen with an evil smug on her face. It was Mr Olsen who was afraid now.
When Mr Olsen finally drove to the restaurant he intended to have lunch, he was relieved. He quickly stepped out of the car. Katherine giggled and went after him. Katherine ordered fried rice and turkey with orange juice. Mr Olsen ordered the same thing but with red wine instead of orange juice. Halfway into the meal, Mr Olsen ensued a conversation. "Does Ren still disturb you?" Mr Olsen questioned. Katherine raised an eyebrow. "That is a personal talk," Katherine said politely. "I know," Mr Olsen responded casually as though they do talk about personal stuffs. "I'm sorry sir. I can't answer that," Katherine said. "Oh? It's okay. I understand. I just want to seek your advice on a personal issue," Mr Olsen said. He looked sad but he was quick to change his expression to being emotionless. "You can say it if you want to. I might help. Ren no longer disturb me," Katherine said with her voice trailing off as she said the last statement.
"Do you still remember Piper?" Mr Olsen asked. "Yes," Katherine responded. Why won't she remember the lady that made her boss kiss her? At the thought of the kiss, Katherine smiled. Mr Olsen wondered what was going on in her head that made her smile. "How do I get her off me? She has been all over me lately," Mr Olsen said. "Simple thing. Tell her what you feel about her. If she is sensible, she will let go of you. I was lucky Ren is sensible. Sir, do you still love her?" Katherine enquired. "No. I don't love her. I should not love her again in this lifetime nor another," Mr Olsen said. Katherine wanted to ask the backstory of their breakup but decided to keep shut. She doesn't want to dig into her boss's personal life unless he discuss it like he is doing now.
Mr Olsen sipped his wine. "Can I ask a favour from you?" he asked. "Do you want me to help you talk to Piper?" Katherine questioned. "Don't play the smart dude," Mr Olsen said. Katherine laughed silently. "I've a sister who wants to learn how to cook from me but I'm too busy for that. Can you help me teach her in disguise as the company's chef?" Mr Olsen asked. Katherine laughed, "Why did you think I'm fit for the job?" she asked. "Everytime I see the food you bring to work, its aroma and look always take me to another dimension," Mr Olsen said. Katherine frowned, "How dare you look at my food?" she had made the statement before she realised it was her boss she was discussing with. "How dare who?" Mr Olsen asked intimidating with his eyes cold. "How dare me look at my food when you do too?" Katherine said helplessly. Mr Olsen chuckled.
"Are you in or not?" Mr Olsen asked. "Will I be paid?" Katherine enquired. "Yes," Mr Olsen replied. "What about my job as an assistant?" Katherine asked. "You will be paid as an assistant and also as a chef," Mr Olsen said. "Oh? I will work as an assistant from morning to afternoon and teach your sister how to cook from afternoon till evening?" Katherine inquired. "No. You will be with my sister from morning till whenever you want," Mr Olsen said. Katherine thought about it for a while. If she does the job for three months, she will be able to have enough money added to Sophia's own to buy a house of their own. They won't have to pay rent anymore. "I'm in," Katherine replied.
"Alright. You are resuming tomorrow," Mr Olsen said. "I don't know your place, sir," Katherine said. "A driver will come to pick you up," Mr Olsen said. "Sir, let it be someone I know else I won't enter the car," Katherine said. Mr Olsen laughed, " Are you afraid of being kidnapped?" Mr Olsen questioned. "I'm not but I don't want to be kidnapped by not-so-beautiful person," Katherine said. "Are you referring to me?" Mr Olsen questioned. "You? No, sir," Katherine responded. Mr Olsen smiled. "Do you think I don't know that is what you guys at the company call me?" he said still smiling. "What! I'm unaware," Katherine activated her innocent look. Mr Olsen smiled and urged Katherine to eat on. "Being a while I laughed this happy," Mr Olsen said his thought aloud unconsciously with a smile on his face. Katherine felt sorry for him. She felt like telling him it was going to be ok but she didn't want him to know about his slip of thought.
After the meal, Mr Olsen allowed Katherine leave for home so as to prepare for the next day. "Sir, you didn't ask for my address," Katherine said. "Do you think I don't know your address?" Mr Olsen responded. Katherine nodded. She recalled that she works for him and also rich people know how to go about their things. She went home.
