Have You Been Hiding Something?
The following morning, Katherine woke up to hear Sophia throwing up some things in the kitchen. She went to the kitchen. "Good morning babe," Katherine smiled. "Morning sweetheart, how was your night?" Sophia replied. "It was wonderful," Katherine responded. "Okay. I will soon be done preparing breakfast so we can eat. Are you experiencing hangover? I prepared some soup for you," Sophia said. "I'm fine. I will just shower and will be fine," Katherine said. "Are you sure?" Sophia asked again. "Yes, I am," Katherine replied. "Alright. If you insist," Sophia smiled. Katherine left the kitchen.
Moments later, Katherine was back again. Sophia had set the table then too. "Aren't you going to work?" Katherine asked halfway through the meal. "I'm not. I took a leave of absence saying I want to take care of you," Sophia said. "Common, I'll be fine. It's just a little break down," Katherine said. "I did take the leave already and it has been granted. I was so scared yesterday that I just did things that came to my mind without giving them second thoughts," Sophia said. "Okay. I can have someone to spend the day with," Katherine smiled. Sophia smiled too.
Sophia continued her meal while thinking of how to bring up yesterday's issue without causing Katherine another hurt. She pondered on it and realised there was no way she can stop the hurt; she can only make it more bearable. "What happened yesterday? It was unlike you. Did Mr Olsen fire you for trespassing?" Sophia asked. "Fire me? I told you already that he won't. It was something else," Katherine said. "What something else?" Sophia asked. "I don't want to talk about it," Katherine said. "Kat, don't get hard with yourself again. You know you can always talk to me," Sophia said. "Yes but I'm not ready to talk about it now," Katherine said and left the table. "Won't you finish your meal then?" Sophia asked.
Jake left Mr Olsen poking his meal to go and take his bath. He got back to the dining to meet him still poking his meal. "Are you gonna poke the meal till you won't be able to eat it?" Jake asked. "I messed up a big time," Mr Olsen repeated the same sentence he has been saying since yesterday. "How exactly did you mess up? What was the incident she misunderstood?" Jake questioned. "She thinks I'm a bisexual or even gay," Mr Olsen said. "What makes her think so? She must have seen something. Kat isn't the type to judge according to what others say or think," Jake said. "I think it's time I come clean to you guys," Mr Olsen said. "Have you been hiding something from us?" Jake questioned. "Yes. Please call Jessie and tell her to find a way to make Katherine come to her place. We'll all meet there," Mr Olsen said. "Alright," Jake was clearly confused. What was Dylan hiding?, he wondered
Piper was having an alone time in the park when an old man came to her. "Piper Gurney?" the old man called. Piper turned to look at who could be addressing her with her full name. "Pardon? Do I know you somewhere?" Piper asked. "Have you forgotten me after eleven years? I am the doctor who took care of Dylan when acid was poured on him. How is he doing now?" the old man said with a smile "He is doing great," Piper's voice was solemn. "Did he tell you?" the old man asked. "Tell me what?" Piper asked.
Piper called Jessie as she still have her number. She knew calling Mr Olsen was a no for her. She could have called Jake too but she was unsure of how he would react after all he is a male too. She believed Jessie as a female will understand her better. "Hi Jesie. This is Piper," she said as soon as Jessie picked the call. "Piper?" Jessie was obviously surprised. "Yes," Piper responded. "I thought you left the country," Jessie said. "Yes. I came back some months ago," Piper replied. "Okay. So, how are you doing?" Jessie questioned. "I'm pretty good. Urm, can I meet you? I need to tell you something urgently," Piper said. "What something?" Jessie enquired. "It's about Dylan. I think it will be better if we discuss it physically rather than on the phone," Piper said. "Alright. I will forward my address to you once I drop the call," Jessie said. "Alright," the call ended.
Katherine and Sophia were playing Scrabble when the former's phone rang. "Who is that?" Katherine asked Sophia as she was the one who picked up the phone. "Jessie," Sophia responded. "Oh. Answer the call and put it on speaker," Katherine said. "Hi Kat," Jessie said lively as soon as her call was answered. "Jessie, how are you?" Katherine replied with the same liveliness. "I'm fine but bored," Jessie responded. 'Oh! Poor big baby. Come over to my place. I'm home with Sophia," Katherine said. "So Sophia is there and she didn't say anything?" Jessie asked. "I'm thinking about my next word to play," Sophia said, "My darling Jessie is fine," she added. Jessie laughed. "What game are you guys playing?" she asked. "Scrabble," Sophia answered.
"Why don't you come over to my place with the Scrabble?" Jessie suggested. "You should come. It is two versus one," Sophia said. "We will be on out way soon. I've been thinking of how to get out of this house too," Katherine said making a puppy face at Sophia. "Sophy please. Jake's favourite pleaseeeeeeeeee," Jessie said with an innocent voice over the phone. "You guys are cheat!" Sophia puffed, "We will be there soon," she finally agreed. "I love you," Jessie and (
Katherine said at a go as though they had planned to. The three ladies laughed.
Jake finished his meal. "I called her already but I fount if Katherine will agree to go because I know she will isolated herself from everyone," Jake said. "I pray she goes. Sophia might persuade her to go," Mr Olsen said. "All right," Jake didn't say anything else after his affirmative statement. Mr Olsen looked at his call log contemplating on whether or not should he call Katherine. He was yearning to hear her voice even if she would scream or shout at him. He just wanted to hear her say something. "Snap out of it! What are you thinking about?" Jake jerked him out of his thought. "Nothing," Mr Olsen responded. Jake peeped into Mr Olsen's phone and grinned puckishly. "There is definitely something," he snatched Mr Olsen's phone from him. "Jake, it's seriously nothing," Mr Olsen said trying to get his phone back. "I know this feeling. You want to hear her voice?" Jake questioned.
"No. It just happened that her number was mistakenly pressed by me while I was trying to figure out what my next move will be," Mr Olsen said. "What move? To apologise to her?" Jake asked. "No! It's my next business move I was pondering on," Mr Olsen defended himself. "You can't fool me. I've know you for more than twenty years, okay? If you were to think about your next business move, you will have papers with sketch surrounding you," Jake said. "I've changed. I don't do that again," Mr Olsen was still fighting hard to defend himself. He knew if he come clean; Jake will tease him. "Wow! Wonderful! How come you suddenly stop doing what you still did yesternight? Incredible!" Jake jested. Mr Olsen was left speechless. "Alright! I caught you. I'll just call Sophia," Jake dialed Sophia's number.
