Sulking Mr Olsen
The following day at work, Mr Olsen was still sulking. Katherine was left to wonder what was wrong with him. She was curious but restrained herself because she knew asking might be misinterpreted as she caring for him. "Sir, you didn't tell me what time the meeting will begin," Katherine said. "An hour before lunch," Mr Olsen responded. "An hour before lunch? Won't I have my lunch?" Katherine wondered aloud. "There will be a break," Mr Olsen said. "Better," Katherine checked the time and realised she has less than forty-five minutes to get ready. "What about transportation?" Katherine asked. "Why are there so many cabs on the road?" Mr Olsen replied. His response surprised Katherine. Maybe he didn't love me as he claimed. Maybe he realised he shouldn't love me. Maybe I offend him. But what have you done to offend him?, Katherine was wondering. "Did I offend you, sir?" Katherine voiced out.
"All I was and am doing is just to let you know that I truly love you but what do I get in return? Savage responses," Mr Olsen said pacing the length of the office. "Savage response? What you get in return? Who dares respond savagely to my boss?" Katherine asked with her arm folded. "You," he responded. "Me? When?" she feigned ignorance. "Why are you doing this to me?" Mr Olsen asked in a low voice. "Doing what? I didn't do anything," Katherine replied. He grabbed her hand in a swift move and placed it on his chest. "You feel that? Why do you make my heart beat this fast? WHY?" he asked. "It isn't my fault. I'm not to be blamed for your heart's inability to know who and who not to beat for?" she responded trying to let go of her hand but he held unto it more. "Who should be blame then? Why did we ever cross paths?" he questioned. "It is not my fault your company had a job vacancy when I was jobless," she was raising her eyebrow. He swallowed hard trying to calm himself. "Yeah. You are right," his voice was trembling. With that, she bowed and turned to leave but he grabbed her arm, turned her around and slammed his lips on hers. She wiggled out of his embrace and staggered back a little before she became balance. She stared at him for a while before leaving the office. "Katherine," he called trying to stop her but felt a sting in his heart. He held his chest with tears as he watched her leave the office. The company.
Katherine exhaled when she got out of the office. She didn't know what to do. She just stood at the parking lot staring at nothing. She decided to go and get a cab when the company's driver drove up to her. "Good morning ma'am. The CEO requested that I take you down to where you are going," the driver said. "Okay," Katherine entered the car. She kept staring at the direction of Mr Olsen's office till she could see it no more. She exhaled. "How can I stay away from this man?" she thought absentmindedly touching her lips. She was feeling the kiss.
Mr Olsen freshened up after Katherine has left. He changed his grey suit to a black one. He was busy with some files when Jake entered his office. "Good morning Mr Olsen," Jake greeted with a broad smile while extending his hand out for a shake. "Morning Mr Jake. It's a pleasure having you in my office," Mr Olsen responded shaking Jake. "May I?" Jake pointed at the chair opposite Mr Olsen. "Sure," Mr Olsen nodded. Jake sat. When Jake sat, he burst into laughter. "Pretending to be professional with you is funny," he said between laughter. "Let's just get done with what you are here for," Mr Olsen said emotionless. Jake stopped laughing and looked at Mr Olsen. On a normal note, Mr Olsen will join him in laughter and even call him names. "Hey, what is wrong with you?" Jake asked.
"Are you here to talk business or not?" Mr Olsen questioned. "Common Dee, don't try your coldness with me. What is wrong?" Jake asked "I was glad I can finally love and I love her but all she has been doing is to reject me," Mr Olsen complained. Jake was surprised at Mr Olsen's utterance. He can still remember clearly that he vowed never to trust any lady with his heart again. "Who is the lady?" Jale enquired. "You know what? Let's forget this conversation and get down to business," Mr Olsen said. Jake just nodded and brought out files from his briefcase. "Here," he placed it on the table. Mr Olsen picked it and began to go through it. "The deal is okay. Will you go to Japan this weekend to finalise it?" Mr Olsen asked.
Sophia and her colleagues were busy when Jake entered their office. "Good day sir," they bowed, including Sophia. "How are you doing here? I hope you guys are good," Jake smiled. "Sure. We hope you are good too," Henry responded with a smile. "For a job well done, your lunch will be on the house," Jake said. Sophia gave him a questioning look. Jake smiled and blew a kiss at her. "Silly," Sophia mouthed. "Wow. Thank you sir. We appreciate," Drey said. The others bowed in appreciation too. "Keep up the good work," Jake began to shake hands with them starting from Henry. When he shook Sophia, she pinched his palm and glared at him. Jake only smiled. He soon left the office.
"If Mr Olsen can be like him, I'm sure every single worker will never want to miss work," It was Harry who made the comment. "People can't be the same. One person has to be the water and the other fire so that their collaboration will be perfect," William said. "Well, that's true," Miranda agreed. "We should get back to work. I can't afford to miss today's free lunch," Henry said. The others especially Miranda and Sophia rolled their eyes. "All he loves is free meal," Miranda spat. "I do not like free food. I like the person offering the free meal," Henry defended himself. "Hmmm," Sophia made a humming sound, " Let's get to work. I don't want to miss the free meal too," she said. "Why? You like the person offering the free meal too?" Drey said. "I love free meals," Sophia responded. For Sophia, she was excited about the lunch not because she loves free good but because she will be opportuned to see Jake again.
Jake was still going around checking on the workers till he got to the reception. "Oh! Mr Jake, how are you doing?" Linda greeted lively. "I'm fine and you?" Jake responded. "When did you arrive?" Linda asked. "It's been a while. I took the private elevator," Jake replied. "Ok. I've been wanting to thank you but I've always missed you whenever you come around," Linda was smiling. "Thank me? For what?" Jake was wondering what he had done to her but couldn't recall. "The day you saw me sulking," Linda began. "Yes?" Jake said in a way acknowledging that she can continue. "You told me to let my heart decide for me. I did let my heart decode for me and now I'm with the human I love most," Linda was obviously happy. "Congratulations. I'm happy for you," Jake smiled. "Not only am I happy with him, we are expecting our first child too," Linda said excitedly. "Congratulations. Your lunch on me. I will also like to know the lucky man," Jake said with a smile. "You know him," Linda said. "I do? Who is he?" Jake enquired. "Henry," Linda responded. "Henry? From Sophia's department?" Jake replied. "Yes," Linda nodded. "You are lucky to have such a hard-working guy as yours. Congratulations again," Jake smiled.
