Which Is True?

Katherine felt happy when she saw Mr Olsen but she didn't put it up on her face. She just looked blankly at him. Jake went to sit beside Sophia. He pulled her into his embrace making her comfortable in his arms. "I brought these for you," he gave the pack with him to her. "Thanks baby," Sophia kissed his knuckles. Mr Olsen dropped the pack with him on the table and sat on an empty chair. "What lies? She just told me what you've refused to tell me all these years. It's not her fault. According to her, it was unintentional. Maybe Katherine was right that you never loved her. If Katherine's hunch is correct, I must say, you are a great actor," Jessie said. "I said all she said was lies. She didn't tell you the truth. Piper, can you look into my eyes and tell me all you said is true?" Mr Olsen questioned. Piper was mute. "Won't it be reasonable if you tell us the true story?" Katherine made her first statement since Mr Olsen and Jake arrived.

_Dylan was having a social meeting with the workers. "I will like to appreciate everyone for their effort put into the company since I became the manager. It always gladden my heart to know that you guys got my back," he said with a broad smile. The workers smiled too. They too were glad to have him as their manager. "Most importantly, so many thanks can't be enough to appreciate Vivian, my best and most efficient assistant. I can even say she has been the one doing most work cause I know I love being the lazy one," he said. "You flatter me, boss," Vivian said with a smile on her face. "I don't think the boss is being too exorbitant in his praises of Vivian. We all do see how hardworking she is. A wonderful round of applause for her, please," Duncan, the marketing director said. The others clapped. Vivian smiled. "As a way of showing my appreciation to Vivian for always been a wonderful assistant, the company will be granting her a month vacation to any country of her choice. She is also allowed to go with anyone of her choice. When she comes back, her salary will be tripled." Dylan said. "Oh my God!" Vivian felt elated. She couldn't believe her ears. Excitedly, she jumped up and hugged Dylan with tears of joy. She didn't know her dedication to work was this appreciated. She has always done her job as required of her as an assistant._

_The following Monday, around lunch time, Piper came to the company with a long face. She didn't even respond to the jovial greetings of the workers. "What is wrong with her? Did she have a fight with someone?" one of the workers asked another. "Let her be. You know I don't like her a bit. I wonder why Mr Olsen like her," the other scoffed. "That is none of my business. Someone who isn't beautiful yet putting on a long face, how much uglier can she get?" the first worker laughed. The two workers laughed and went for their lunch._

_"Sweetheart, how are you? Are you here to get me for lunch?" Dylan asked as Piper entered his office with his arms open to hug her. "Hey, what is it with this expression? Is it mom or dad this time around?" he asked walking up to meet her. As soon as Dylan and Piper were close enough, Piper landed a hot slap on Dylan's face. "What! Piper, what was that for?" Jake stood up from where he was sitting. Vivian who was in the next door heard the sound and came running into her boss's office. "What was that sound?" she asked. "It's you who is wrong with me this time. I've always knew you were cheating on me with your assistant. I just didn't believe it until I saw the video of both of you hugging. You are not even hiding it from other workers," Piper said at the top of her voice. Dylan, Jake and Vivian just looked surprised. "If it is because she is more beautiful than I, I will make her ugly," Piper said and opened a bottle she had took from her bag. She made to pour its content on Vivian but Dylan in a bid to push Vivian from being a victim of Piper's acid had the acid poured on his face._

_Piper gasped and dropped the remnants of the acid and rushed to help Dylan but was pushed off by Jake who was trying to help Dylan to the hospital. Vivian looked at Piper for the last time and left the office. At the door, she turned. "The workers were right. You don't deserve to be with my boss. Lest you are not aware, I'm engaged to someone else," with that Vivian left the office and drove to meet Jake at the hospital. Piper stood in the office with nothing but regrets._

"Piper! You did this and you told us like it was all accident," Jessie couldn't believe her ears. "Now, we have two different stories. How do we know which is true?" Katherine said not sparing Mr Olsen a glance. Deep in her, she was feeling bad that Mr Olsen had to experience such a grievous incident. "Tell her to say what really happened," Mr Olsen said glaring at Piper. "Urrmm, I think I've overstayed my welcome. I have nothing to say more. I thought you guys will sympathize with me but I guess since you now know what really happened, you know who to sympathize with," Piper said and made to leave. "Not so fast. You haven't even told me why you are here in the first place," Jessie said. "There is no certainty that you will belief me," Piper said.

"This room is too tensed. Let's have some snacks. I will turn on the air conditioner. Piper, stay. Dylan wants to tell us something. I believe he won't mind if you are here to know too," Jake said. Piper just nodded and maintained her seat. Sophia used the little opportunity when things are getting less tensed to drag Katherine up. She took her to the kitchen. "What? Why did you drag me all the way here?" Katherine asked with her arms folded across her chest. She has an insight of what Sophia wanted to tell her because she had seen she and Jake exchange signals. "Kat, I know you. I know what you really want but can you at least put on a lighter mood when you talk to Mr Olsen now that Piper is still around?" Sophia said. "Why should I?" Katherine responded. "Don't give Piper the wrong idea," Sophia said. "What wrong idea? It's not as if we are officially couple," Katherine said. "But you will soon be," Sophia smiled. Katherine tried to frown but ended up smiling too. "Stop teasing me," Katherine hissed and went back to meet others. Sophia smiled watching her leave.

The room was now less tensed. Katherine has relieved her facial expression. She even smiled slyly once when she had eye contact with Mr Olsen but sneered before looking away. "So, Piper, what is it that you want to tell me? Since it's about Dylan, you can say it," Jessie said. "I met with the doctor who treated Dylan when he had that accident," Piper began, "He told me that Dylan's face wasn't damaged that it was cured with drugs and skin therapy," she said. "So?" Mr Olsen responded. "He said you have been wearing facial mask for the past years," Piper replied. The others looked at Mr Olsen questioning except Katherine. "I can't believe her. Especially not after just telling me a lie not long ago," Katherine said, "Am I not right?" she looked at Mr Olsen.
