We Are Lovers

Piper sat in the sitting room while Gina went to get her a glass of water which she had insisted on having. "I've called my brother to let him know you are around. I think he will be here soon," Gina said sitting across Piper. "Thank you," Piper smiled. She looked around the house. A smile escaped her lips when she realised it was the housepaln she and Dylan had that he stuck to. She believed that means he still love her.

Gina while pretending to be on her phone secretly take pictures of Piper. She was wondering why her big brother is still single when he has beautiful ladies surrounding him. "Is he really gay?" she wondered. She shook the thought but as much as she doesn't want to believe it, her subconscious mind was still whispering the feared likely truth to her. Some minutes later, the doorbell rang. "I will get it," Gina went for the door.

"Sis Kat, how are you?" Gina jumped on Katherine. "I'm good and you?" Katherine responded, "I've told you to stop jumping on me. We might fall together one day," she said and handed her bag over to Gina. "Your bag is heavier today. Did you get something for me?" Gina asked. "Don't question me. I'm farmished. Prepare something delicious for me," Katherine ordered. "You are to teach me how to cook," Gina mumbled. "This meal will be your first test," Katherine said. "Sis Kat," Gina grumbled. When Katherine got to the sitting room, she was surprised to see Piper. Piper also recognised her immediately. "Do you know each other?" Gina questioned seeing the expression on both ladies.

After ending Gina's call, Mr Olsen left the office in anger. He didn't want to have anything to do with Piper anymore. He used to feel hatred for her but not anymore. He does even feel anything to him. He now see her as random passerby. He drove home.

"Yes. She used to be your brother's girlfriend," Katherine said. "Until she came into the picture," Piper said. "Until she came into the picture? Does that mean..... does that mean you are big bro's present girlfriend?" Gina gasped at the revelation. "It's complicated," Katherine tried to say. "Finally, I will have nieces and nephews to call me Aunt," Gina was already daydreaming. "Snap out of it already," Katherine jabbed Gina. "Ouch! I'm sorry," Gina apologised and sat on a sofa sulking. Katherine faced Piper. "I'm sorry about what happened the other day at the office. Mr Olsen and I are not a thing like you think. We are......," Katherine was saying but was interrupted. "Lovers. People in love are not called a thing but lovers," Mr Olsen interrupted.

Katherine looked at Mr Olsen and felt like punching him till he blacks out. Mr Olsen moved closer to Katherine and wrapped his hand around her waist. Katherine tried to wiggle out of his embrace but Mr Olsen held tighter. He lowered his head to her ear level and whispered, "Stay still if you don't want me to do something more." That made Katherine ease up. Mr Olsen faced Piper. Gina sat watching the scenario unfolding before her.

"I told you already that we are done," Mr Olsen said calmly. "Eleven years is more than enough to forgive me and forget what happened," Piper said. "Yes. It's enough to forget everything and she who is involved," Mr Olsen said. "Dee," Piper called. "You are no longer entitled to call me that. Address me as Mr Olsen," his voice rose as he spoke those words. Katherine felt he was shaken with anger. She has never seen him this anger and emotional. "You are my past and you will remain in the past. Let today be the last time I will ever see your filthy self before me. Get out of my house. Now!" Mr Olsen ordered. "Dee, I'm sorry. I.....," Piper tried to hold Mr Olsen but he yanked her hand off him. Katherine didn't know what reaction to put on. She was just fondling Mr Olsen's hand gently. If only she realised her action was calming Mr Olsen, she would hug him so he can feel better.

Piper finally left the house, heartbroken. She looked at Mr Olsen's house for the last time with tears in her eyes. "Goodbye, Dee. I will always love you. I'm sorry I couldn't be your bride," she said and walked away. As she walked on, she reminiscence on the happy moments she spent with Mr Olsen. Those were memorial for her as she has never been so happy ever since she and Mr Olsen separated.

After Piper left, Mr Olsen hugged Katherine. Katherine let him be for sometime. She knew how painful it is to let go of the one you love. She can relate. She has experienced it. Mr Olsen hugging her made her remember Ren whom she had long forgotten. Or has long pretended to forget. She tried to get away from the hug when she felt Mr Olsen was calmed already. "Mr Olsen," Katherine called when he wouldn't free her. "Call me Dylan and please let me stay for five more minutes," Mr Olsen whispered. His voice was broken like one fighting back tears. "Dylan?" Katherine was surprised. "Thank you," Mr Olsen said.

"The only time I've seen big bro vulnerable was when we pranked him. I'm even sure no one would have seen his vulnerability if it were real," Gina said as she and Katherine busied themselves in the kitchen. "He is human too so has his own weakness," Katherine said. "Yeah," Gina nodded, "About you and him, are you really......," she was asking. "We are not really anything. Piper thinks we are in a relationship because the day she came to the office, your brother told her I'm his girlfriend," Katherine said. "Oh? I see. Well, if you become a real thing, I won't mind. You know I like you already," Gina said. Katherine laughed at Gina's comment. "What you just said is like you are saying there are no shark or whale in the ocean because you can't find one when you dipped your spoon in the ocean to bring up water," Katherine said.

"You think so," Gina said, "I will believe you don't like my brother enough to love you but my brother love you enough to make you his girlfriend," she added. Katherine almost made the pot lid fall off at Gina's statement. "I see that you have watched too much romance movies," Katherine said. "I'm serious here. I saw in the eye of my brother how much he loves you," Gina said. Katherine laughed, "Are you advertising your brother to me? I will advise that you don't waste your talent advertising your brother. Adverise a real product!" Katherine said. "Alright if you insist. Your heart will lead you," Gina said. "Yes. Of course," Katherine nodded.

The duo soon set the table. "Make sure your brother eats when he comes back from work, I will be on my way now," Katherine said. "I see you care about my brother," Gina smiled. "If he falls sick, I won't be able to get paid. He has to be strong to hard. The only way to be strong is by eating so ensure he eats," Katherine said. "My bro is handsome enough for you," Gina mumbled. "Handsome? Did you know how he looks like?" Katherine asked. "He has inner beauty," Gina said. "Okay. If you stand here arguing with you, I won't go home early," Katherine left to get her bag. Recalling Gina talk about how handsome Mr Olsen is, Katherine remembered there was something off about Mr Olsen's facial skin. She didn't really consider it the first time she touched it but the second time she did, convinced her that something was definitely off.
