Sorry, All Planes Have Been Booked
It was weekend! Sophia set to leave for Jake's place. "Are you coming back tonight?" Katherine asked. "We'll meet at work on Monday," Sophia responded. "Oh ok. Have a nice time. Gina and I are going out also though," Katherine said. "Send my regards to Gina," Sophia said. She went inside to get her little bag and left for Jake's place.
Katherine called Gina as soon as Sophia was out of the house. "Will you come and pick me up or send the address?" she asked. "I will come and pick you so that we can have a talk before getting home," Gina responded. "Whichever. Don't keep me waiting," Katherine said. "Don't wear too revealing clothes. Mom doesn't like it," Gina said. "You've told me this more than a hundred times," Katherine rolled her eyes. "I must remind you," Gina said. "Alright. I will be ending the call now," Katherine ended the call.
When Sophia got to Jake's place, she used the spare key with her. She was met with a delicious aroma when she stepped in. She dropped her bag in the sitting room and made for the kitchen. "I told you not to cook. I will cook. It's not as though you are great cook anyway," Sophia said aloud as she went to the kitchen. On getting to the kitchen, instead of Jake, she was met Jake's mother. "Good afternoon mom," Sophia rushed to hug her. "Don't afternoon me. You said you'd come back to visit me. I was only left to long," Jake's mom frowned. "I'm sorry, mom. Work can be tiring and I've to rest. Do you want me falling sick?" she made her innocent puppy facial expression. "No dear. Don't worry, ensure you rest enough. I won't mind visiting you if I've to see you," Jake's mom rubbed Sophia's cheeks adorably. "Thanks mom. I love you," Sophia kissed her cheeks. "Where is Jake?" Sophia asked. "I didn't meet him at home too. I've tried his number but it was unreachable," Jake's mom said.
"Alright. Once I'm done here with you, I'll call him," Sophia said. "Isn't he aware you are coming here today?" Jake's mom questioned. "He is aware," Sophia responded. "I'm left to wonder why he left the house then," Jake's mom said. "Orrh! He might be up to something. Maybe a surprise. He never cease to surprise me at the slightest chance," Sophia was beaming with smile. Her cheeks was all red. "He is truly the son of his father. His dad was like that too. What am I saying? He is still like that," Jake's mom said laughing. Sophia laughed too. They soon were done with the cooking. "Go in. I'll set the table," Sophia offered. "Alright," Jake's mom went in.
After setting the table, Sophia picked her phone to call Jake only to see numerous missed calls from him. She called back. "Hi boo. How are you?" Sophia said as soon as Jake picked up. "I'm fine and you? Where are you?" Jake asked. "I'm at your place. Even your mom is here. Have you forgotten I told you I'll be coming this weekend?" Sophia questioned. "I didn't but the thing is I'm not around," Jake said picking his words one after the other. He didn't want to offend Sophia. She isn't easy to please. "Not around? Are you joking? Where are you?" Sophia asked. "I'm sorry. I'm not joking. I'm in Japan now," Jake responded. "Japan? This is the fourth time this week and we've just seven days in a week. Moreover, didn't you tell me the deal was done?" Sophia was already furious. She wasn't against Jake travelling. She was just angry that he didn't inform her beforehand. He could have called when he realised his plans have changed.
"Yes, the deal is done. It's another one. Dee was supposed to go but he begged me to go on his behalf," Jake said feeling down already. He knew Sophia was angry at him, no doubt. "You are funny. You guys, I mean you and Dee, can maneuver things to your way. Why can't you just do that concerning this travel?" Sophia said. "We thought it'd be better if we just get it done sooner," Jake replied. "Alright. Bye. Have a wonderful trip," Sophia ended the call without awaiting Jake's response.
Jake sighed. He knew Sophia is very angry with him. She was right. They could have maneuver the trip. He felt lost. He didn't even know what to do. After a while, he dialed the airport and booked his flight back home. "The next flight is in seven hours," the airport told him. "Isn't any chartered plane available?" Jake asked. "No. All have been booked," the airport responded. "Alright," he ended the call. He thought for a while and remembered the Olsens have a private plane. He called Gina. "Who is in charge of the family's private plane?" he asked as soon as Gina picked the call. "Not even a hello?" Gina questioned. "Just answer me. Having to deal with a female is enough trouble already," Jake said. "It's father," Gina replied wondering what Jake meant by his statement. She shrugged it off saying that is his problem. Jake dialed Old Mr Olsen's number.
"Good afternoon sir," Jake greeted. "Afternoon, my son. How are you? How about Dylan?" Old Mr Olsen enquired. "We are fine. I hope you are too," Jake responded. "Sure. Am I safe now that you call?" Old Mr Olsen joked. Jake forced a laugh. "Sure, you are. A father feels more safe when his son calls," Jake said. "Yeah. Yeah. Thank you for checking on me. You might as well persuade your stubborn friend to do so too," Old Mr Olsen said with a little taint of sadness in his voice. "Yes, I'll. Father, is the private plane available?" Jake asked. "No. It just flew a while ago. Do you need it?" Old Mr Olsen asked. "Yes. I'm in Japan now and I've to be back home soonest," Jake said. "Take the next flight from Japan," Old Mr Olsen suggested. "It flies in the next seven hours. That will be late by then," Jake said. "Okay. Let me call the pilot if he can come pick you in Japan on his way back," Old Mr Olsen said. "Alright. Thanks sir," Jake appreciated. "I'll call you again," Old Mr Olsen ended the call.
Jake called Sophia several times but Sophia didn't pick her call. "Isn't that your phone ringing?" Jake's mom asked. "No. It's alarm," Sophia smiled and put her phone in silent. "Alarm? Who sets alarm during the day?" Jake's mom wondered. "It's just a reminder of the things to do. I sometimes get too lazy during the weekend," Sophia said. "Okay," Jake's mom continued her meal. When Sophia realised that Jake's call is unending, she switched off her phone. "What about Jake?" Jake's mom asked. "He said he had to attend to something and will be back before nightfall," Sophia said. "Ohh? I can't wait till then. I'll be going back after lunch. Just ensure you make him aware I came around," Jake's mom said. "Sure, I'll. I'm glad you are here on a day like this. I would have spend the time alone," Sophia said. "Anything for my daughter. Do you want me to stay till he comes back?" Jake's mom asked. Sophia smiled. "You don't need to worry too much about me. I'll be fine," she said. "Alright. If you insist," Jake's mom smiled lovingly at Sophia.
Old Mr Olsen called Jake after ten minutes which seems like decades to Jake. "Sir?" Jake said as soon as he answered the call. "The pilot said the weather is not clear enough to travel now from South Africa to Japan. He said he will come pick you up by nightfall if you can wait. He is pretty sure the weather would have become clear by then," Old Mr Olsen said. Realising he has no other option, Jake exhaled. "I'll be waiting unless he didn't come before Japan airport's next flight," Jake said. "Alright son. Take care," Old Mr Olsen ended the call.
