She Is Fine

Mr Olsen drove to the nearest bar. He showed the attendant Katherine's picture. "She just left here few minutes ago," the attendant said. He was on his way back to the car when he received a call from Jake. "Gosh! It was difficult tracking her. Anyways, she is heading towards the beach at the outskirts of the town. We'll still be able to keep track of her provided she didn't turn off her phone," Jake said. "I just hope she doesn't," Mr Olsen hopped into his car and zoomed off.

Sophia kept dialing Katherine's number until it said switched off. She decided to call Jake. "What is happening? Mr Olsen called me asking me where Kat goes whenever she is sad," Sophia said as soon as Jake picked her call after a millionth calls. "I'll explain to you when I'm sure Kat is okay. I also don't know the full gist but I'm sure once Kat's wellbeing is confirmed, I will know what is going on," Jake said. "Don't be scared. No matter how sad she gets, she will never harm herself except excessively drinking though," Sophia said. "Alright. I will call you back soonest. Love you," Jake said and ended the call before Sophia could respond.

Throughout, till the end of the day, Sophia kept calling Katherine but her number was still switched off. Sophia got outside of the company and waited for a cab to come along so that she can flag down. She was still waiting when Miranda also came out from the company. "Isn't your boyfriend here?" Miranda asked looking around for Jake's car. "No. He got some things to do," Sophia replied. "Okay," Miranda nodded. Sophia finally flagged down a cab. "Good night," she bade Miranda before getting in the cab. "Where madam?" the can driver asked. "Just keep driving. I will let you know," Sophia said.

"Have you been able to know where she is?" Sophia asked Jake over the phone. "No but be rest assured that she is fine. Just go home. I will come over soon," Jake said. "Alright," Sophia responded. Sophia told the driver to drive her to her apartment - She and Kat's place. "Thanks," she alighted when they got to the apartment and paid the driver. The house was scattered when she switched on the light. "Was there a burglar here?" Sophia wondered.

Mr Olsen couldn't calm himself. "This is almost dusk and there is no news about her," he said. He had gone to the beaches in the town and even the surrounding ones but none had a record of Katherine entering or leaving. He became so frustrated that he couldn't think of anything else but to drive to Jake's place. "Calm down, I contacted a more experienced hacker. He will soon give us feedback of where she is. Also, additional security has been ordered," Jake tried to assure him. "God! I've messed up big time," Mr Olsen exhaled. Jake was consoling Mr Olsen when his phone rang. "Katherine is fine," Sophia said.

"Sophia said Katherine is fine," Jake told Mr Olsen. "Can I talk to her?" Mr Olsen asked enough for Sophia to hear. "You heard him?" Jake enquired. "Yes but Katherine isn't willing to talk to anyone. Even me," Sophia said. "Alright. Give her some time, she will be fine," Jake said. "Tell Sophia that she can take the remaining days of this week to take care of Katherine," Mr Olsen said. "Just take care of Katherine till she is alright. I will come over tomorrow," Jake said. "Alright. Mr Olsen approved it?" Sophia asked. "Yes," Jake replied. "Please tell him I'm sorry. I couldn't let him know about Katherine's plan to invade his room because we are best friends. I never knew he will be this angry once he finds out," Sophia said. "Sure, I'll. Just take care of yourself. You have to be strong to be there for Katherine," Jake said. "Ok. Good night," Sophia said. "Good night. I love you," Jake replied. "I love you more," the call ended.

Recounting how Sophia knew Katherine was fine. She had got in and was surprised to see the house in a mess so she went to the bedroom to check if the burglar made away with most of their valuables. Rather than meet a burglared bedroom, she met Katherine cuddling against a pillow on the bed. She went to her and hugged her. "Are you fine? Where were you?" Sophia asked. Katherine didn't respond; she just hugged Sophia tightly and wept. It was after she was calm that Sophia went to make dinner and also called Jake to let him know Katherine was fine.

"What happened exactly? You said she loves you but doesn't want you? How is that possible? I mean, Katherine might pretend she doesn't care about the physique of anyone she likes but she truly does," Jake said looking at Mr Olsen. "Yes. That's true. But some phenomenon can't be explained. She just told me she loves me today and said she thinks it's too late because of an incidence that happened yesterday," Mr Olsen said. "What incident?" Jake questioned. "That shouldn't be what bothers you now. Is it safe to try to talk to her tomorrow?" Mr Olsen asked. "No, it's not safe. You have to calm down and wait till weekend," Jake said. "Alright," Mr Olsen leaned in on the chair he was sitting on.

"Keep an eye on Katherine's address. I will send her address to you now," Jake said to the chief security over the phone. "What is happening? You guys haven't used extra security for a long time now," Edward, the chief security said. "Who else always have his bride running away?" Jake responded. "Dylan finally fall in love after eleven years?" Edward was surprised. "Of course and now we are in this again," Jake said. "Alright. It's been a while I dealt with couple-thing though," Edward said, "By the way, did he later carry on with the face surgery?" he asked. "No. He still went about with the acid-affected face and that's why he doesn't appear on the news," Jake said. "Alright. I will be coming around this weekend to see what is going on," Edward said. "Alright," Jake said.

After getting dinner ready, Sophia went to the room to call Katherine. "The meal is ready. Will you come to the dinner table or I should bring it here?" Sophia asked. "I'm not ready to eat now," Katherine responded. "Kat, you've to take something. You've only been drinking alcohol," Sophia said. "I'm not hungry. Maybe for now. You can put my meal in the microwave. I will take it when I'm ready," Katherine said. "Kat, please. Eat something even if it's quarter of the real portion," Sophia said. "Okay. I will just wash my face and come and join you," Katherine stood up and went to the bathroom. Sophia heaved a sigh of relief and went to the dinning room.

Katherine joined her moments later. Sophia helped her dish her meal. Though she had told her she will be eating just quarter of the real portion, Sophia dished the real portion. Katherine began to eat. She began to cry while eating as she forcefully made herself munch too much. "Take it easy, baby girl. You'll be fine," Sophia had stood up to stand beside her. She was patting her here. "Why am I these unlucky?" Katherine mumbled crying. Sophia just patted her while hugging her.
