Rivera Consolidated
Dante
"So, I'm guessing the reason you're here is to discuss the proposal on the government project," I said and Xander nodded.
"Would it be too forward to assume that the reason you're here is because you picked Rivera Consolidated?" I asked with the fake smile still on my face and I was trying so hard to maintain it when the jerk sitting before me was looking as cold as one of those Rogues I torture.
"You're right. It would. The project is a big deal and I'm not just going to pick random competence-lacking garages in the making," he said and the smile on my face wore off immediately.
"Of course, I'm not referring to Rivera Consolidated," he added and the corner of his lips raised up into a faint smirk.
I nodded and plastered my fake smile back on despite the nagging urge I had to bury my fist in his face.
"Hmn." I simply nodded.
"I'm here because I wanted to take a look at past projects that Rivera Consolidated has handled," Xander said and I intertwined my fingers on the desk.
I glanced at Nathan who was sitting on a couch and since he was so close, it was easy to create a telepathic connection to him.
"I told you that this man was an asshole," I said to Nathan while looking at Xander with a fake smile.
"Just play along. Don't do anything to annoy him," Nathan's voice echoed in my head.
"Alright. We'll have to pull them up," I replied Xander and he raised up his left hand to take a look at his wristwatch again.
"How long is that going to take?" He asked and I could hear the irritation in his voice.
"It's might take a while, we k-"
"An organization like this should have easily accessible photocopies," Xander interrupted me and I clenched my fist under the table as I tried to control the anger I was already feeling.
"Actually. I'll get them in a minute," Viktor stood up from where he sat and I stared at him in surprise.
How was he going to get them? We recently moved to this building and our achives are in the former headquarter building which would take a 5 minute drive.
"Alright. Bring them here," I said with a nod and watched as Viktor walked out of the office.
"So, has this company ever handled any project this big before?" Xander asked and I stared at Nathan inquringly.
"No." His voice echoed in my head.
"No," I replied and Xander briefly looked over his shoulder at Nathan.
"Did you just ask him about something you should be able to answer immediately?" Xander asked and I shook my head.
"I don't think you saw my mouth move," I replied with a light smile.
"But I didn't see his'" Xander retorted in irritation.
"And by the way, so that I don't confuse you for a mere secretary, try to wear something that's not less than half the price of what your personal assistant is wearing," Xander said and I clenched my fist angrily.
That does it.
"You know what?" I suddenly hit my palm on the table and stood up in anger..
"You're just a cocky bastard and you need to go straighten your life out!" I yelled at him angrily and I heard Nathan's disapproving voice in my head.
"Dante, no!"
I ignored him and glared at Xander angrily, "you don't have the right to act so stuck up cause you're about as useful as an ashtray on a motorcycle!" I added in anger, glaring down at Mr. Xander who remained sitting silently.
"You were only lucky to have gotten this contract cause everything you are wearing is cheaper than the bandaids I use and your company is like a one ply generic brand of toilet paper... unreliable." I said quickly in one breath before stopping to catch my breath.
Mr. Xander nodded and he stood up on his feet, adjusting the button of his suit.
"Very well. I'll be on my way," he said and he signalled to his personal assistant and one other entourage of his' who stood up and picked up his briefcase.
I watched as they walked out of the office with Mr. Xander and I sighed deeply.
That felt good to finally say.
"Did it feel good?" Nathan asked, crossing his arms over his chest.
"Yes, it did," I replied with smile.
I looked at the door as it opened and Viktor walked in holding a large folder.
He looked at the chair where Mr. Xander was sitting earlier and he glanced between me and Nathan inquringly.
Wow. He really did get those folders in a minute.
"Where's Mr. Xander?" Viktor asked.
"He just left after I gave him a piece of my mind," I replied and I saw a slight frown form on Viktor's face, but he quickly hid it.
He had been managing director here since my dad headed his company, but that didn't mean I would bat an eye in disposing of him.
"How did you get the folders so quickly by the way?" I asked with my eyebrows raised and Viktor looked stunned for a while, his lips quivering.
"Um.....I kinda anticipated this and I got it before you arrived," he said and I nodded.
"Great. You also know how Xander is," I said and Viktor glanced back at the door.
"I really have to go quickly," he said and he stretched the folder out to Nathan. Nathan raised his eyebrows and refused to take it.
"I'm pressed. I quickly got this here first because of Mr. Xander," Viktor explained quickly and Nathan took the folder from him.
I watched as Viktor ran out of the door in haste and I stared at the door suspiciously before shrugging and facing Nathan.
"So do you think he's going to pick us?" I asked Nathan and he rolled his eyes.
"Not bloody likely."
