Scared
Natasha.

Alyssa is not your mate. All she has done is to redirect the mate bond you are supposed to be feeling for me to herself," I said gently, as my throat was now beginning to hurt as hell and Dante exclaimed, "What?"

I knew that there might never be a way to proof this, but I had to say it. I know that Alpha Jack felt strange on the day that I first held his compass so now, I would make sure that I torment him by planting that seed of confusion and uncertainty in his heart.

"You may have never known, but I am glad that I broke the bond between us," I added and I nodded in the direction of a dagger lying on the floor.

Dante slowly walked to the dagger and he picked it up, closely observing it.

"You liar! Alyssa is my mate and you're just bitter about it!" Jack shouted and I chuckled and scoffed.

I can't be bitter or feel any hurt now that I had ended the bond I had with him. Something I'm glad I did so I could be given second chance.

"Bitter? Why would I be when I have..." Dante didn't let me finish my sentence and he quickly moved forward, standing between me and Jack.

"I'm certain that Natasha is innocent, and you cannot burn her or do any harm to her."

It was obvious to me that Dante did that to stop me from mentioning that I was his mate. He also avoided mentioning that this whole time which could have made things a lot easier.

It hurt to realize that, but at least, he was here to protect me.

"Really why are you doing this Dante?" Alpha Jack asked and Dante remained silent for a while, staring

"Why are you suddenly helping her and how can you be so sure that she is innocent?" Jack asked.

"I know that you are being sceptical right now but I am certain that she's innocent of the crime she's been accused of," Dante said and Alpha Jack sighed.

I guess I was really destined to be mated to Alphas. I was glad that just as I had always wished, I was mated to someone who was powerful enough to protect me.

I heard the murmurs in the crowd earlier and I was glad to hear that Dante was the Alpha of the Black Cedar Pack. If he wasn't, this wouldn't have been dragged this long and he would have been shunned.

"Dante, this is not right. You are interfering in the activities of my pack, and you do not even have any proof to back up what you are saying," Jack said.

I heard Dante sigh and he looked over his shoulder to face me.

He faced Jack again and he nodded, "and I will get you the proof," he said confidently. I didn't know how he would successfully do that, but I had this trust that he would find a way to do that.

"I will get you the proof that she is innocent of all the crimes she's being accused of within 7 days," Dante added and Alpha Jack sighed again.

"Alright," Jack said and he signalled to the man standing beneath the elevated platform to come up.

The man climbed up and Jack pointed at me, "loose her up and take her back to the dungeon."

Dungeon?! They were still going to lock me up for the seven days?!

I was scared and I didn't want to go back to that cell again. I couldn't stand another day being locked up as a common prisoner in that cell.

I watched as the man walked closer to me, but Dante shook his head, raising up his hand to stop the man before he could touch me.

"No, allow me to take her with me and I'll bring her back in seven days to this very place," Dante said and I sighed internally in relief.

Alpha Jack scoffed in irritation and shook his head.

"Dante, I'm beginning to get really annoyed with you right now," Alpha Jack said.

"Take her away?"

"Dante, she's still guilty until you are able to proof otherwise so she has to be locked up for now," Alpha Jack said.

"But I don't want to see her be suffer," Dante said, and his words surprised me.

"Hungh, why?" Jack asked, raising his eyebrows.

Dante didn't say anything for a while, then he quickly responded, "I don't want to see her be alone and suffer in a cell meant for prisoners."

Once again, he evaded mentioning the fact that I was his mate.

"And it's not like I'm going to run away with her," Dante added and he looked over his shoulder briefly at me.

"I'm an alpha and I have duties so I am just taking her with me to make sure that she is protected within the time that I am going to find an evidence to prove her innocence," Dante stated and Alpha Jack stared at him for a while before nodding.

"All right working seven days you have to bring a back here," Alpha Jack said and Dante nodded.

He turned around to face me and he stared at me for a while with no trace of emotion in his eyes before walking over to my back and I felt him begin to loosen the chains that tied me to the wooden stake.

I sighed in relief as I was finally separated from the stake and I glanced up at Alpha Jack.

He stared at me, not with the usual hatred, anger and disgust, but his expression was unclear and I hope that he would keep on thinking about everything I just said..

"Let's go," Dante said and he began to walk away. I followed him, climbing down the stairs of the elevated platform and as I walked through the crowd at both sides of the square, I could feel every eyes on the two of us.

"I really think that she is guilty."

"What if all what she said is true."

"I think this is good. The judgement was too rushed."

"We'll find out what is really true in seven days."

I continued walking behind Dante, trying to stop my wolf hearing from listening to the murmurs of the crowd.

I stopped walking and I glanced up as I passed by where Alyssa sat. Our eyes met and this time, Alyssa looked scared.

I kept staring at her intensely and she finally looked away. I will make sure that she pays for everything that she has done to me.

And my father will face the consequences of his actions to me in due time.
