"Mate"
Dante.


The car slowly came to a stop as we reached the main pack mansion of the Gemini Pack.


Just as our car stopped, another car drove in from behind and stopped a short distance from us.


I looked out of the window and saw Landon and Jack step out of the car.


I opened the door and climbed down too.


"Jack-" Nathan said as he walked towards them.


"It's been a long time Nathan," Jack said with a smile and he pulled Nathan into a hug.


He broke the hug and he faced me with a smile, "You really came," he said and glanced at Landon.


"I didn't believe it when Landon told me that you were coming," he said and I smiled, chuckling slightly.


"Well, I'm here," I replied and hugged Jack.


"So, I was told that you want to burn someone alive on a stake," I said as we broke the hug and Jack nodded, resting his palms on his waist.


"Yes, it's the daughter of the beta, she tried to murder my mate," Jack said and my eyes widened in surprise. I never knew that it was Jack's mate who almost got murdered.


"But burning on a stake though," I said, shaking my head.


"Isn't that archaic?" I asked and Jack chuckled.


"Yeah, I was going to say the same," Nathan said.


"It was the pack elders. I just wanted her punished and I went ahead with what they agreed on," Jack said and chuckled again.


He stopped as he looked at something behind me with an inquisitive stare and I turned around to see him looking at Vikor wo finally climbed down from the car.


"That's Vikor. He works at Rivera so he came here since we're having a meeting with Landon," I explained and Jack looked at me with a raised eyebrow.


"Dante, a human here?" Jack asked in a low voice and I smiled.


"Viktor is not human," I chuckled, "he's a Vampire Hybrid," I added and Jack nodded, mouthing an "Oh."


He raised up his left hand a bit and he looked at the wristwatch on his hand.


"We have to go now, I'm being waited for," Jack said and he opened the door of his car.


"You and Nathan can join me here, Landon can join Viktor in your car to direct him," Jack said and I nodded. I walked over to the other side of Jack's car and I opened the door, climbing in next to the driver's seat where Jack sat.


Nathan climbed in behind and as he closed the door, Jack started the car, slowly reversing the car before making a slow turn to the right.


"Tell me," Jack said and I faced him, staring at inquiringly.


"What?" I asked.


"You and Landon seemed weird. You didn't look at yourselves and didn't talk to each other ," Jack stated and Nathan chuckled from behind the car.


The two of us looked over our shoulders to face Nathan and I rolled my eyes.


"What happened? Did you two have a quarrell?" Jack asked.


"That would have been less awkward," Nathan said.


"Okay, what happened?" Jack asked, sounding more curious to know what I was.


"Should I......"


I sighed, "Just shut it Nathan, Landon confessed to me that he likes me, that's it," I said quickly and Jack froze for a while before bursting into laughter.


"And you didn't know before?" Jack asked and I sighed. Did the two of them really know before?


Why did they never tell me?!!


I sighed again and leaned into my seat. The car soon stopped. As Jack climbed down, I opened the door too and climbed down.


The other car also parked next to us, Landon and Viktor stepping out.


The two of them were talking about something but they stopped as they climbed down. Hmn.


I saw that Jack was already walking so I followed him into the pack square.


We walked to a part of the square where some of the park elders I recognized were seated.


"Dante. Ah, you're here," Elder Kane said and I responded with a nod and polite smile.


"Good to see you."


"Good to see you too," I replied and walked past him, going to sit on the chair next to Jack.


"So, your mate-" I said and Jack faced me.


"I didn't know that you met your mate already," I said and looked to my left as Nathan, Landon and Viktor sat on the chairs on my left.


"It was just recently," Jack replied and I nodded, "I only made it public two days ago when I angry shouted it at her sister," he added.


I looked up at the elevated platform a short distance away and my eyes met with the lady tied to the wooden stake on the platform.


Her eyes were swollen and she looked miserable, but she deserved it, for attempting to kill her own sister. I felt disgusted looking at and I looked away, facing Jack again.


"So where is she?" I asked and Jack looked at the crowd before pointing. I looked in the direction of his finger and my eyes landed on the lady he was pointing at.


I felt shocked for a while to see where it was. I recognized her.


She was that rude lady that I met when I was leaving the house of the Petrova sisters. She was Jack's mate?!


It was forbidden for pack members in Gemini and some other packs like mine to to seek the assistance of Witches or practice magic.


Sometimes it was allowed with the permission of pack leaders, so I ignored it. Jack must have known of it especially since she is his mate.


She was rude though.


I faked a smile and said, "Hmn. Lucky you."


Jack smiled and too, but all of a sudden, he groaned and clutched his chest.


"Jack. Jack?" I grabbed his hand and shook it, worried that something bad happened to him.


All of a sudden, he gasped and he raised up his head..


"Jack, what was that?" I asked and Jack looked confused.


"I don't know, I......I..." Jack slowly looked up and I looked in the direction of his eyes to see the stake where the lady was tied to.


As I look at her, I suddenly felt a strange feeling, an urge and tickle that I had felt before.


"Mate."
