Silver Dust
Dante

Flashback

"Slow down Dante," Kiara chuckled and she pushed me lightly on the shoulders as i tried to kiss her neck.

I had undergone a lot of change since then. I was no longer that bubbly and overly romantic man in his early twenties.

I swiftly twirled Kiara around to the rhythm of the music and I caught her on my arm, lifting her up and grabbing her waist again. I didn't give up and I leaned in closer to her, attempting to kiss her again.

"Dante!! There are people watching," Kiara protested and she looked around with the corners of her eyes.

"Kiara, no need to be so self conscious. We can live in a fantasy world of own and we don't have to worry about the rest of the world." I leaned forward and kissed Klara with my right hand behind her head. She suddenly broke away from the kiss and her eyebrows etched into a frown.

"Dante, behave yourself, we're here for business and there are people watching," Kiara grabbed my right hand and intertwined her fingers with mine, swiftly moving to the the fast changing beat of the music.

"And the only way we can get to enjoy a fantasy world of ours is if you learn to adjust to the standards of this world," she added and the both of us waltzed hand in hand to the other side of the dancing floor.

In a swift movement, the two of us quickly switched partners and I danced with the red hair before me for a while before switching back in the next rhythm and catching Kiara by the waist.

"I talked to Silas about letting you come to stay with me at the pack," I said as twirled Kiara around again.

"Well, what did he say?" Kiara asked with a teasing smile.

"He said he would think about it," I answered with an eye roll and Kiara chuckled.

The music was fast and once again, me and Kiara had to switch dance partners.

Klara was with another dance partner when suddenly, I began to feel strange in my body. I looked around and noticed some guests who were close to the entrances began to cough. I instantly let go of the lady I was dancing with and I looked around curiously. The air in the room began to get foggy and I coughed as I inhaled the air. I instantly recognized what it was, it was silver dust and it would render the Werewolves and Vampires here incapable of using their abilities.

Loud coughs began erupting everywhere and soon I joined in the uncontrollable cough. I tried to use my wolf sight to find Kiara, but it was impossible. I resorted to squinting my eyes as I coughed so I could see through the fog and I finally found Klara coughing and also looking for me.

I wanted to run to her when large hands clamped tightly around my arm and pulled me back.

"Who are you?" I struggled to break free from the person's grip but it proved futile. I tried to catch a glimpse of who it was, but all that was there was a thick black mask.

"Kiara!" I called out to Klara with a scream and she began to run towards the direction of my voice. As she neared me, I suddenly threw the person holding off with a loud groan and held on to Kiara's hand so we could run away.

We had barely ran anywhere when I heard a gunshot and I quickly dived down. After the sound died down, I looked up as I heard Kiara moan in pain. The bullet had hit her in the heart and there was blood gushing out rapidly.

No! No! This can't happen. I coughed as I walked closer to her to support her.

Her dress was gradually being soaked in red and there was nothing I could do. I carried her in my hand and looked at the blood gushing out her, unable to do anything and hoping that her supernatural healing would kick in even though I feared it would be a silver bullet.

"Kiara, no, no," I cried, holding on to her and coughing. The silver dust had filled up my throat and it hurt badly. I coughed with a jerk and as I lost balance, Kiara fell to the ground and I looked up when I head a gun cock loudly. The shooter was pointing his gun at me.

I looked at him, hoping that he would pull the trigger and end me, but all of a sudden, I heard multiple gunshots and the masked man standing before me shook rapidly before falling to the floor, lifelessly.

I watched as the gun in his hand slipped out of his grip and I immediately faced Kiara who was lying on the ground and bleeding.

"Kiara. No. Hang on," I said, grabbing her hand and squeezing it lightly before looking up.

"Help her!!!"

"On my way," Killian's voice echoed in my hair as I walked down the corridor towards the main entrance door of the mansion.

"Same here," Nathan said too and as I got close to the door, I saw Killian and Nathan coming from each of the corridors on the left and right.

I opened the door and I stepped out, hurriedly climbing down the short flight of stairs and walking to the car that was already parked outside.

I climbed into the back seat with Nathan while Killian sat at the front to drive the car.

I sighed and rolled down the windows, breathing in deeply. I didn't sleep properly in the night and I felt that I needed to rest.

I was now fully supernatural again, but that didn't mean that lack of sleep wouldn't take it's toll on me.

The car started and it started moving at a steady speed as it drove towards the estate's exit. The gates of the estate opened as we approached and the car immediately started moving fast, speeding down the neat tarred road out of the estate.

"Just so I can remind you later, Nigel was never on speaking terms with us so don't be disappointed if he tells his men to throw us out," Nathan said and I faced him, rolling my eyes.

"We still have to try."
