Hibernation
Dante
We walked up the last flight of stairs I remembered should lead to the General's chamber and I looked up to see the golden doors of the chamber. We stopped as we got to the chamber and my mind began to process how Nigel might react and in which way I should respond..
As the doors opened, I expected to see Nigel, but instead, there was a fine looking middle aged man sitting on the throne-like chair and holding a goblet of wine...blood?
It was a familiar face I didn't expect to see here today. This was probably the reason we were allowed in so quickly.
"Silas?!" I exclaimed in surprise and the man sitting on the chair stared at me blankly for a while like he didn't know who I was.
I was confused for a while, but he suddenly burst into laughter, pointing his finger at me.
"Yes, it's me Dante," he said with a teasing smile and I nodded. He got me.
He had woken up. I didn't know. Silas was stabbed that day with a silver dagger, but because he was a True Vampire, he didn't die. The only way True Vampires could be killed was if you burnt them or stab them with stakes made out of some rare trees, but deadly kill moves like that stab would put them in some kind of long hibernation.
I didn't know that he was already awake cause Bastien was still locked up in his sleep state back at the pack.
"It's me in the flesh," he said and dropped the goblet in his hand on a table next to him.
"Have your seat," he pointed at chairs on the adjacent left of where he sat and I nodded, going to sit on one of the chairs, Nathan and Killian sitting on both sides next to me.
"I thought the reason for your visit was because you probably heard I had awoken and you came to see me," Silas said with a smile.
"But you looked surprised to see me so what brings you here today?" Silas said and gestured to me to speak.
"Yes, I had no idea that you were awake and I thought I was coming to see Nigel instead," I said and smiled lightly.
"I've not seen him around by the way."
"He went out to handle a community feud outside," Silas replied and I nodded. Great. I didn't want to deal with Nigel's cold attitude towards me.
He became worse since everything that happened. He didn't cause trouble, but anytime we met in public, he never missed an opportunity to show how much he blamed me for everything that happened.
"I'm here because I was threatened by a Vampire I believe is a True Blood and I do not know the Vampire's identity," I explained and Silas' eyebrow etched in worry.
"Dante, what trouble did you get yourself into this time?" He asked and I shook my head.
"Believe me, I would remember if I came across a True Vampire and stepped on his or her toe," I replied and Silas' chuckled.
"You sure about that?" He chuckled and I smiled.
"Yes, I need to find out who he is cause he compelled three Vampires already," I stated.
"I don't know how serious the Vampire take this and I certainly do not want to have to continuously kill trespassing Vampire," I added and Silas nodded.
"So what do you want Dante?" He asked.
"I was going to ask Nigel if he could held me find who it was among the True Vampires in the city," I replied.
"Well, I know many of those in the city, but of course, there might have been new arrivals when I was in hibernation so I'm gonna do what I can to ask around and find this person," Silas said and I nodded with a smile.
"Thank you."
"Alright. I have to talk to some elders now. I'll contact you if I have any information," Silas said and I took that as our cue for us to leave, standing up.
Nathan and Killian stood up to and I regarded Silas with a nod one last time before walking out of the room. We were once again escorted by guards out of the building. As we got out of the tower, I saw a car drive in and looked inside of the car through the window to see Nigel in it.
The car came to a halt and Nigel climbed down from the car, his cold gaze meeting mine.
"What is he doing here?" Nigel asked one of the guards standing around and I chuckled.
"How about you ask me yourself," I replied him instead and he looked at me in irritation.
"I do not bother myself by talking to insignificant people," he replied and I scoffed.
"How's 'insignificant' for the size of your ego?" I smirked and Nigel walked closer to me, standing just few steps away from me.
"It would be better if you watch the way you talk to me while in this territory," He threatened and I rolled my eyes.
"That's okay Nigel," I heard Silas voice from behind and Nigel moved back a little bit.
"You shouldn't have let him come in here. We don't allow Werewolves here," Nigel said, given me the stink eye.
"Remember you're an half Werewolf, your sister was half Werewolf and your mom was a Werewolf," Silas stated and I scoffed.
Silly that he had to be reminded of such a fact.
"Excuse me," I smirked at Nigel and he walked aside to let me pass. Nathan and Killian also walked past him and I climbed into the car.
Killian started the car and he drove us out.
Vampires were creatures that irritated me, but only because of the natural Werewolf instinct and some arrogant trouble makers, but when it came to Silas, be treated me like family and even though Kiara was no longer alive, he hadn't changed a bit.
I actually hated Rogues more than I hated Vampires. Rogues were the ones who killed my father and they played a major role in sabotaging the packs safety and aiding Bastien's those years ago.
Now that he accepted to help me, I was sure that if the True Vampire who threatened me was from this city, I would find out who it was.
We finally reached the gate to the clan's territory and as it opened, we drove out of it.
I felt my phone vibrate in my pocket and I reached for it.
I looked at the caller ID and saw that it was Kara, my secretary. I wonder what it was this time.
I picked the call and listened to what she had to say.
"What?!!" I exclaimed in surprise as I listened to what she said before ending the call.
"What is it?" Nathan asked and I faced him knowing that he would be equally surprised to hear what I just found out.
"Mr. Xander picked Rivera Consolidated to be Starnex Ltd's partner in the government project."
