Dante
Flashback
The music was fast and once again, me and Kiara had to switch dance partners.
Klara was with another dance partner when suddenly, I began to feel strange in my body. I looked around and noticed some guests who were close to the entrances began to cough. I instantly let go of the lady I was dancing with and I looked around curiously. The air in the room began to get foggy and I coughed as I inhaled the air. I instantly recognized what it was, it was silver dust and it would render the Werewolves and Vampires here incapable of using their abilities.
Loud coughs began erupting everywhere and soon I joined in the uncontrollable cough. I tried to use my wolf sight to find Kiara, but it was impossible. I resorted to squinting my eyes as I coughed so I could see through the fog and I finally found Klara coughing and also looking for me.
I wanted to run to her when large hands clamped tightly around my arm and pulled me back.
"Who are you?" I struggled to break free from the person's grip but it proved futile. I tried to catch a glimpse of who it was, but all that was there was a thick black mask.
"Kiara!" I called out to Klara with a scream and she began to run towards the direction of my voice. As she neared me, I suddenly threw the person holding off with a loud groan and held on to Kiara's hand so we could run away.
We had barely ran anywhere when I heard a gunshot and I quickly dived down. After the sound died down, I looked up as I heard Kiara moan in pain. The bullet had hit her in the heart and there was blood gushing out rapidly.
No! No! This can't happen. I coughed as I walked closer to her to support her.
Her dress was gradually being soaked in red and there was nothing I could do. I carried her in my hand and looked at the blood gushing out her, unable to do anything and hoping that her supernatural healing would kick in even though I feared it would be a silver bullet.
"Kiara, no, no," I cried, holding on to her and coughing. The silver dust had filled up my throat and it hurt badly. I coughed with a jerk and as I lost balance, Kiara fell to the ground and I looked up when I head a gun cock loudly. The shooter was pointing his gun at me.
I looked at him, hoping that he would pull the trigger and end me, but all of a sudden, I heard multiple gunshots and the masked man standing before me shook rapidly before falling to the floor, lifelessly.
I watched as the gun in his hand slipped out of his grip and I immediately faced Kiara who was lying on the ground and bleeding.
"Kiara. No. Hang on," I said, grabbing her hand and squeezing it lightly before looking up.
"Help her!!!" I screamed on top of my voice and looked behind me to face the men who has just gunned down the attacker.
One of them hurriedly took off the gas mask he was wearing and I saw it was Nathan. He immediately ran towards me, shocked to see Kiara dying on the floor.
Nathan immediately carried Kiara up in his hand and I followed him as we ran out of the ball room.
I looked at the man who had been gunned down to the floor.
I shoved my fingers into my hair, ruffling it and breathing tensely. I pointed at the body of the dead man in anger and shouted.
"Find out who he is and what he wanted. I want to know who sent him and if there are others!" I screamed at those in the ball room. Only members of the Black Cedar pack who had come to help me were left here.
All the guests who had filled up the room had ran away. I rushed out of the ball room immediately and I got into another car as Nathan and someone else drove Kiara to the pack.
I knew I shouldn't have had the ball hosted outside of the pack, but my father insisted I should so the guests from other factions could be comfortable around.
I started the car and I immediately zoomed out of the compound onto the road. I felt mh heart beating rapidly and I couldn't control the fear and anger I felt.
I don't know what I'll do if I loose Kiara.
I soon got to the pack estate and I looked up to see Nathan's car parked in front of the clinic. There were two clinics in the pack, one was built close to the entrance and there was one at the other end of the estate.
I parked carelessly before the clinic and I hurriedly got climbed down and rushed into the building. I stopped as I saw Nathan standing alone.
"She has been rushed to the theater," Nathan said and I nodded, sighing loudly. I felt my phone vibrate and buzz in my pocket and I sighed loudly, reaching for it.
It was my dad. He was away on a meeting with the Alphas of packs in Glendale. I picked the call and held the phone to my ear.
"Dante, I was told you were attacked, were you hurt?" He asked and I sighed, nodding.
"Yes, I'm fine, but Kiara was shot and she's badly injured," I said and tried to blink back the tears at the corners of my eyes.
"Oh. Dante, is she okay? Are you okay?" His concerned voice echoed out of the phone and I sniffed. I was desperately holding myself back from crying right now.
"No. I'm not," I replied with a quavering voice.
"I'm going to come back soon and I'll make sure that those responsible for this will pay dearly for it," my dad said, sounding annoyed and I nodded, glancing at the theater where Kiara was taken to.
"Alright. I have to go now," he said and he cut the call. I glanced at the door of the clinic as one a man I recognized as one of the guards at the estate's gate walked in.
He walked towards me and I stood where I was to hear what he wanted to say.
"Sir, General Silas is at the gate and he wants to come in."
