Do You Like Me?
Dante

"So you never talked about your Mate, who is he?" I asked, hoping to hear that he had already met his mate and I noticed that his countenance became somewhat sullen.

It soon changed again and he smiled lightly, "it's a she, and she's no longer my Mate," Landon said and I tried to hide the surprise I felt.

A she? I've always known that Werewolves got their mates based on their sexuality. Landon wasn't straight, nor was he bisexual so why was he fated to a woman? But wait, no longer his mate?!

"We both agreed to break the mate bond," he answered the question on my mind and I nodded, mouthing an "Oh"

I didn't want to imagine how hard that must have been. Although, I also wondered if the Mate bond didn't make him love her as his mate. Perhaps it felt awkward between the both of them and they decided it was best to break the bond.

I didn't know what to say anymore so I looked out of the transparent wall when I noticed someone looking at me from the other side of the street.

It was the same man I saw earlier. He was definitely following me. What the hell does he want?

I immediately stood up on my feet and I ran out of the restaurant. My eyes met that of the man standing across the street and immediately, he began to run.

I looked at both sides of the road and a car was close, but I quickly ran across the road at a speed a bit faster than normal so I don't draw any suspicion.

The man too began to run and I continued chasing after him, forced to run at a human speed.

I watched him turn into an alley and I quickly went after him in the same direction. The alleyway was empty and all of a sudden, the man zoomed away, appearing as a blur. I stopped running immediately, knowing that I had lost him.

He was so fast so he was a Vampire. Werewolves were two times faster than humans, Vampires were two times faster than Werewolves.

The only thing we had on them was strength and mental communication.

I rested my palms on my waist and sighed in frustration. Could he have been sent by that True Vampire to spy on me?

I immediately remembered that I had left Landon back at the restaurant and I immediately turned around, running back to the restaurant.

I ran across the road again and I walked back into the restaurant to see Landon sitting at the table with an inquiring stare.

"Sorry," I said and breathed in deeply to catch my breath, sitting down.

"I'm sorry about that. I saw someone spying on me," I said and Landon nodded with a blank expression.

"So did you catch the person?" He asked and I shook my head.

"No, I lost him. He was a Vampire," I said.

"Again, I'm sorry for running away all of a sudden," I apologized and Landon nodded with a bleak smile.

"It's okay. I knew you wouldn't just leave on our da....leave me alone here for no reason," He said. Did he just almost say date?

I sighed internally and I finally decided to ask a direct question.

"Landon, do you like me?" I asked and I saw Landon freeze immediately. He looked shock to hear my question, then he spoke..

"Um...You're a friend, so I don't hate you right?" He asked with a nervous chuckle.

"Landon, that's not what I meant," I said and his face paled.

"I meant that do you have feelings for me?" I asked and Landon froze again, his lips quivering.

"Dante-" he chuckled, smiling nervously, and I knew he was going to try and avoid answering the question.

"I'm serious Landon, I need you to answer me," I interrupted him and the smile on his face disappeared.

He sighed loudly and ran his hand through his hair.

"Yes," he finally replied and I rested my forehead on my palm, not knowing what to say. Nathan was right after all.

"Yes, I like you Dante since we were in College," Landon replied and I sighed, looking up to face him.

"Landon, why did you never tell me all this while?" I asked.

"I couldn't tell you because I was afraid it'll affect our friendship and you're straight," he replied and I scoffed.

"Well, you don't know that," I said and I saw hope flicker in his eyes for a sec so I quickly talked again.

"I'm not saying I would have reciprocated, but you should have talked to take it off your chest," I said and he nodded.

"Landon, I'm sorry, but I think it would be better if we just remain as friends so we wouldn't hurt each other," I said and I saw hurt and disappointment flash through Landon's eyes for a sec before he nodded..

"I understand," he said and I nodded too. The two of us were silent for about two minutes before I finally talked again.

"So do you want to leave now?" I asked and Landon nodded.

"I'll just go and clear the bills," I said and stood up, walking to the counter.

I paid for the food with my credit card and returned back to the table to meet Landon. He stood up and we both walked out of the restaurant to my car. Landon handed me the keys and I opened the door to the driver seat, climbing in.

Landon climbed in next to me and I started the car, driving into the main road.

Maybe going out with Landon today wasn't a has idea after all. I was finally able to clear the air on this issue.

Now about Mr Xander choosing Rivera Consolidated to partner with Starnex Ltd on the government project, I had to find out why he did that.

Even if I was the most qualified for it, no one would choose my company again after everything that I said.

I have to go to the company real quick and confirm the details of the agreement. This could be a trick of Xander to make us think he's really choosing us.

Who knows, the agreement might be filled with several outrageous conditions.
