Confronting
Natasha.
"You were eavesdropping on my conversation?" He asked.
"No I was going to ask you and you happened to pass by my room when you said that," I replied and he turned around to go without giving a response to my request.
I sighed loudly, "Just my books and the cell phone hidden in the lower drawer of my reading table," I quickly said just in case he was going to do it.
I watched him walk out of the door and I sighed again before walking back to my room. I opened the door of my room and walked in, but before I could close it, Nathan quickly slipped in and he closed the door himself.
What?!
What was he doing?
"Tell me," Nathan said softly and I stared at him in confusion.
What was he saying?
"Tell you what?" I asked and slowly moved backward, sitting at the edge of my bed.
"I know that Dante is hiding something from and you are the only one that can tell me what it is," Nathan said and I already knew what he was talking about, but I wasn't about ready to admit that.
"I can?"
"Don't play dumb with me please," he said, sounding a bit irritation. He walked to the stool beside my bed and pulled it back to the front of the door, sitting on it.
"I know that Dante won't just rescue any one and he was angry to hear that someone did the crimes you were accused of until we got there and he saw you," Nathan said..
"So tell me, what kind of relationship do you have with Dante. Have the two of you met before?" Nathan asked.
I didn't know what to say. Dante didn't tell them that I was his mate because he probably had his reasons.
I didn't want to annoy him. Probably, he had someone he was seeing and he wasn't yet prepared to break the news to the person.
"Nothing. I haven't met him before," I replied and Nathan sighed.
"He is risking his reputation to proof your innocence, you called him by his name and boldly asked him to do something for you," Nathan said with an unconvinced expression, "so you cannot tell me that there is no sort of relationship between you and Dante."
I remained silent, staring at him and I didn't know what to say again.
"The last time Dante helped a stranger was when he met Kiara," Nathan stated.
"Kiara?" I asked, curious to know what that was and he nodded.
"Yes, Dante's mate who died," Nathan replied.
What?
Dante had a mate?! She died?!
"Why do you seem surprised? You two know each other so he must have told you," Nathan said and then he suddenly stood up with a look of realization on his face.
"Unless......... You two have never met and he rescued you because he had felt obligated to do so," Nathan stated slowly, and I gulped nervously, standing up from the bed.
"You are Dante's mate, aren't you?" He asked without blinking and he slowly took little steps towards me.
"Wh.....what.... what are you talking about?" I asked, stuttering.
He suddenly grabbed my shoulders tightly and he glared at me.
"You said you broke the mate bond with Jack, so after that happened, Dante became your mate, didn't he?" Nathan asked and I was surprised at his accurate deduction.
"Answer me, is Dante your Mate?" Nathan asked me and he glared at me with his large blue eyes.
I couldn't deny it again at this point and I slowly nodded, "Yes."
Nathan immediately let go of my shoulders and he stepped back a bit.
"I knew it. Dante couldn't risk everything for just anybody," Nathan said, looking down and resting his palms on his waist.
"That's why he's certain that you're innocent," Nathan added in a low, soft voice.
He suddenly looked up at me and sighed, "Tell me everything that really happened."
***
I locked the door of my room as Nathan walked out of the room. I looked at the wall clock and noticed that we talked for a long time..
Nathan wanted to know everything that happened and I had to tell him anything that came to my head. When he asked about the rumors he heard about my immoral behaviour, I had to explain to him how I was raped and lied against.
I sighed and I threw myself on the bed, burying my face in the sheets. I raised my head up again as I heard a knock on my door.
Who was it this time?
I was already exhausted as it is from having to give years of explanation to Nathan and even finding out that Dante had a mate who was an Hybrid and who was killed.
It made me wonder if it had something to do with why Dante was being so cold to me.
"Coming," I said and I stood up before walking to the door and opening it.
Oh. It was a servant here to drop my lunch.
"Thank you," I said with a smile and I took the tray of food from him before walking into my room and closing the door.
I stopped the tray on the stool and went back to sit on my bed.
I wasn't hungry. The breakfast I had this morning had barely digested and I blamed it all on my lack of activity.
Dante made a promise to bring me back to Gemini in the next seven days so I guess he just wants to be sure I wouldn't run away while with him.
Understandable, but still painful.
I glanced at the tray on the stool and sighed. I absolutely can't eat that and I don't want it to be here when dinner is brought.
I stood up as I thought about finding the kitchen here and returning it. I picked up the tray, but just as I was about to walk out, I changed my mind.
I stopped walking and I slowly turned around, staring at my bed as I remembered the prisoner I met yesterday.
Bastien.
