Escape
Natasha.

Someone was knocking on the door. It could be Dante and he could have a spare key or force it open.

"I have to go," I said and I quickly grabbed the tray before running back to the stairs. I pushed the brick and the walls closed back up.

I quickly ran up the stairs and I dropped the tray on the bed. I bent down and closed up the trap door.

The person knocked on the door the second time and I hurriedly pushed the bed back to it's original place.

"Coming," I said as I stood up and I ran to the door. I opened the door and just as I had thought, it was Dante.

I looked at his hands and I saw him holding my books. He really helped me get them.

I smiled and I opened the door, stepping aside so he could come in. He walked in and and he dropped the books on my bed.

"Thank you so much," I smiled, but his face didn't even move a bit.

He brought out a cellphone from his pocket and I looked at it closely to see that it was my cellphone.

He handed me the cellphone and as I grabbed it, he wouldn't let it go. I looked up at him, confused.

"Next time, don't call my name out like that in public," he said and immediately the smile on my face disappeared. He really didn't want anyone to know about us.

What was the deal with him?

He let go of the phone and he turned around to leave.

"Dante-" I called him and he stopped walking. I wasn't sure if I should ask the question that was on my mind, but I was so curious to know.

"Who is Bastien?" I asked. Instantly, Dante turned around to face me and his eyes was filled with rage, hatred and bitterness.

Before I knew it, he dashed at me and he grabbed my throat, pushing me to the wall.

"Don't you dare mention that name!" He yelled at me and I tried to get his had off my neck.

"You're........ you're hurting me," I struggled to talk as Dante's hand choked me.

"I don't want to ever hear you mention that name!" He yelled again and he suddenly let go of me.

I gasped, breathing heavily as I tried to catch my breath. I rubbed my neck gently.

What was wrong with him? Why did he go so crazy just because I mentioned Bastien. No wonder why Bastien was made to suffer much more than the other prisoners.

Was there something that Bastien did that could have really hurt Dante?
Immediately I thought about that, I remembered that Nathan told me Dante's mate, Kiara was killed.

Was Bastien responsible for that?? Shit! What did I do?

"Wait, how do you know about Bastien?" Dante asked, resting his palms on his waist and facing me.

"Where did you hear that name?!" He asked loudly and I flinched.

"I.....I...." I didn't know what to tell Dante. Before I could talk, someone knocked on the door.

"Dante, are you here?" I heard Nathan's voice from behind the door. Thank goodness.

I quickly walked past Dante and I went to open the door for Nathan.

"Is Dante here?" Nathan asked and I nodded, stepping aside so he could see Dante.

"Nathan, what is it?" Dante asked, sighing loudly.

"All of the men guarding the entrance of the Dungeon were found dead just now," Nathan said.

What?

I immediately got scared knowing that I had just come from the dungeon where I pulled the arrows out of Bastien's heart.

Could he have escaped?? My heart began to heat rapidly and I didn't know what to do again??

"What?!" Dante exclaimed in surprise, "what happened to them?!" He asked.

"I have no idea. They were claw marks all over them and the door was left wide open," Nathan said and I immediately knew that someone had escaped.

Dante immediately rushed past me and Nathan running out of the room.

Nathan faced me and nodded, "I have to go," he said and ran out of the room too. I closed the door and I went to sit on the bed.

What have I done?? I should have known that Bastien was someone terrible for him to have been imprisoned in that way.

Dante would be so mad if Bastien had really escaped and if he found out I was responsible for letting the man who killed his former mate escape.

All of a sudden, the door of my room burst open again and Dante rushed into the room.

He suddenly pulled me up by the shoulder, forcing me to stand up from the bed.

"What did you do?!" He asked on top of his voice and he smacked me against the wall, pressing me tightly by the shoulder.

I groaned in pain as my back ached.

"What are you talking about?" I asked.

"Bastien escaped from his cell!" Dante yelled at me.

"What?" I muttered softly.

"Yes, you helped him escape didn't you?!" Dante yelled and I shook my head.

"No, I didn't," I said, tears stinging the corners of my eyes.

"I swear I didn't help him escape," I said, but Dante didn't seem a bit convinced.

"Someone removed the arrows from his heart and I know that it's you!" He shouted at me angrily.

"You know what? I regret ever helping you and saving you from your miserable existence!" Dante bellowed and tears dropped down my left eye.

"I should have just left you to get burned alive!" He suddenly let go of me.

"Dante, I'm sorry," I apologized and tried to hold his hand, but he pushed my hand away.

"You are not going to leave this room!" He said and he walked to the door.

"I'm sorry, I didn't-" I tried to hold him, but he suddenly pushed me and I fell to the ground. He walked out of the room and he closed the door, locking it from behind.

"Please!" I stood up and tried to open the door, but it was locked.

I hit my palm on the door, crying. I stopped hitting the door and I rested my back on the door.

What have I done?
