Chapter 43

"Mum! I'm sorry, I have to go now... Dean is at the hospital... I don't know what happened to him but don't worry... I'll come back and check up on you... I promised..." She brought out another glass of water, stretching to her before she got the text of the location of Dean.
"No... I think I should follow you... yes... please let me" She tried getting up from the bed while Jennifer dropped the glass of water on the table and tried calming her down.
"Mum! you need rest... you are not fine... don't worry, I'll come back..." Jennifer sat next to her but she still refused and tried to stand up.
"I insisted or else you'll have to beat me before I won't follow you... I have nobody with me... I need to follow you... I don't want to take drugs because I promised my son and if I'm alone, I can't resist it" She stood up after oppressing Jennifer with the wicked look. Jennifer felt embarrassed as she couldn't do anything but let her since she insisted.
Both of us walked outside without talking to each other... I was a bit shy so I had to step behind her while thinking about what to say when we got to the hospital...
Jeffrey's mum even stops the cab for us even when she doesn't know where we are going and this made me upset...
"Mum! what's up with you... why don't you wait for me before stopping a cab... where are we going..." She rushed to her while the driver was staring at them to get in.
"I know you don't want me to follow you and that's why you don't want to walk the parallel line with me... and that's the reason I stopped this particular vehicle..." She looks straight into the driver's eyes before staring at Jennifer back.
"Mum! Why are you like this"She grumbled using her body shape to overpower her as she was talking to the driver?
"Please... take us to the specialist hospital...Sorry for disturbing you" She put her head in the driver's mirror while whispering to her and at the same time used her hand to open the door from inside. She looked outside, but couldn't find Jeffrey's mum and this made Jennifer worried as he looked at the driver.
"Were you looking for me... Oh! you wanted to tell the driver to drive and forget about me... I can see... what is it that you don't want me to see your husband who is sick... damn... anyway...driver let go... this lady doesn't like me but don't worry, very soon she'll like me" Jeffrey mum was already in the back seat before Jennifer entered and she was surprised because she's was about telling the driver to drive before she interrupts.
"Hmm... mum! Why are you talking like this or do you want to tell me now that you read my mind...anyway, the driver let go" She looked away as the driver started the engine and drove off.
"Why are you avoiding me... because my son likes you and you are treating me this way... the look you give to me can even murder a person but I still insist to talk to you... anyway, let's hope your husband is fine, and besides, what's happened to him?" She drew herself closer as she dragged Jennifer, making her look backward.
"Mum! I don't know what happened to him and besides, he yelled at me not to come anywhere near his house again but his mother called me and that is the reason I don't want you to follow me, mum! You just don't get it. Do you?" Jennifer looks back feeling guilty for not listening to Dean in the first place and maybe this could have not happened as she slowly uses her hand to remove her hand from her body.
"I get it... but... I'm bored..." She stammered sliding back to herself with her low voice... " You... I know... my son is all I have... back then, our family was just so peaceful and happy everywhere but my husband left me for young girls... I felt ashamed and I became a drug addict... The day my son got into my house, I felt terrible about what to say to him... I just couldn't control myself when I'm with drugs...I promised him I'll never take drugs again since he's by my side every moment... I was happy at first until I got sick" She sniffed as tears rolled down her eyes bitterly while she used her gown to clean her tears.
"When you and your husband came to me... the way you smiled...the way you fed me and even clothed me... it was one of the happiest moments in my life since my son hasn't done it for me. I became happy and shortly I came to regret it while I even joined you guys... c'mon, look at the way your husband yelled at me... I might even be older than his mother... anyway, let's just forget it... I don't feel like crying ``'' She commented sobbing after cleaning the tears from her eyes.
"Mum! Don't worry... I truly understand you, ma'am. Jeffrey told me everything but don't worry... I'll try my best to do just that, my husband is rude at times... don't worry! I'll see what I can do but please, when we get to the hospital... don't say anything to them... just stand by and watch us... it'll be safer this way" She was still staring at her with a plastering smile on her face before she continued to face the road...
"No..." Jeffrey's mum was about to respond but the driver interrupted them.
"Please... we are almost at your destination... Can I have my money prepared... Thanks... and also... whatever you two are going through, please don't insult each other" The driver commented while staring at the side mirror because he was about to park his vehicle.
"What the hell is your concern right now? Are you mad... can't you face the road and leave us alone... I swear! if you try to raise your voice on me... Hmm! you won't see your dead body" Jeffrey's mum yelled as the driver looked back but didn't say anything to her.
"Please! Here's your bill... you can keep the change for the trouble we have caused you! I'm sorry..." Jennifer brought out some money in her wallet and gave it to the driver and at the same time was confused.
"What? Keep the change? Are you mad! I'm hungry and you tell this man to keep the change after being rude to me... my friend... stop looking at me... or do you want to beat me" She yelled holding Jennifer by her shirt but as the driver continue to stare at her, she removed her hair tie and hit the driver on the head.
"Mum! Let's go... forget about the change... I'll buy you something to eat, don't worry" Jennifer came down and at the same time dragged her but as the driver was about to move, Jeffery's mum! Held the car.
"I promised, if I see you anywhere, I won't enter your vehicle... you are foolish... bring your head here... IDIOT". She stretched her head and tried to hit the driver again but her hand was too short...
" Mum! Let's go... Dean mum must have been waiting" Jennifer dragged her out of the car and as soon as she did it, the driver drove with speed.
"BASTARD... IDIOT...look at that man...he wants to kill me... FOOLISH MAN..." she yelled pointing her finger at the vehicle as he took off while Jennifer ignored her as she accompanied her to the hospital.
"It's okay mum! Let's go please... they must be waiting for me" Jennifer penetrate as she holds her hands while dragging her to the hospital
Jeffrey's mum walks slowly while following Jennifer as she asks the nurse which eventually directs them to the room.
"(knock.. knock...) "Jennifer knocked slowly while Jeffrey's mum was behind her as they both entered the room with their heads bent down.
"Yeah..." A woman sitting next to Dean turns her back, which eventually tends to be Dean's mother.
"I'm sorry for coming, late mum! What's wrong with Dean..." She rushes to him after raising her head and sees clearly that he's on a drip and this makes tears roll down her chin.
"Don't worry...I'll explain everything to you later...who is that lady over there" She commented immediately Jennifer rushed to Dean.
"She's... " Jennifer stammered, still with tears in her eyes... immediately, Dean's mum looked back but the other lady's heads were bent down...
Jeffrey's mum raises her head slowly and both eyes glance at each other...
"Wait... are... you..." Jeffrey's mum was about to complete her statement but Dean's mum rushed to her and closed her mouth while both of them went outside...leaving Jennifer in the dark surrounded with confusion.
"Wait... you were the one I caught sleeping with my husband... dammit... Fuck" She yelled but nobody could hear them because they were far from the room
"Shiiiiiiiii........" Dean's mum became cold as she became terrified while tapping her mouth, trying to tell Jeffrey's mum to close her mouth...
"Fuck... I knew it..." Jeffrey's mum yelled in anger pretending not to see what Dean's mum was doing... She got tempted to beat the hell out of her but as soon as she was about to raise her hands, a nurse passed, making her stop.
