Chapter 93

"Thanks, ma'am... I can see that you don't fail promises... So who are these people... you didn't tell me that you brought your friends... Do you mean that they know about me" Mrs. Jane was running her mouth as we were heading to the vehicle.
"I know you betrayed Jeffrey and put him in prison...Anyway... we all know about you and if we didn't... you could have still been in that sticky place." Gold attacked her as we entered the vehicle.
"Damn!" she murmured.
"Jeffrey... you said... we are going to a meeting so where is that place..." Wayne asked while staring at me... but I don't feel like saying anything to anyone... What's in my heart right now is happiness.
"Nah! That was just a show back there... if I hadn't done it that way... they couldn't have released this woman" I turned my neck and smiled as I start the engine
"So pretty lady... why did you betray him... Jeffrey seems like a nice guy and we have heard part of his story... but I think he didn't complete it because he might also do something wrong!" Wayne tapped the lady with his elbow... Jeffrey focuses on the road but uses his driver's mirror to look at Jane.
"Hmmm... I don't know what he told you but I can remember that he didn't do anything wrong... back then, he was madly in love with Jennifer and we made some agreement on eloping with our love...All of a sudden, he changed his mind and ruin my plan... that when I got offended and also ruin his..." She explained and Sabrina stared at Jeffrey but she didn't say a word.
"Yeah... he said... his mother was sick back then and you were only interested in your share..."Gold questioned her... Jeffrey feels embarrassed as they keep interrogating her... because all the memories are coming back to his head.
"Yeah! He made mention of something like that but I didn't see his mother though... Jeffrey... how's your mother now" She turned to Jeffrey but Jeffrey didn't answer her... The memories flashed back in his eyes and tears were about to drop.
Sabrina looks at him but he turns his face away.
"Jeffrey... yeah! You said something about the money-back then... when we are in prison... what do you do with the balance?" Wayne asked him and this discussion is becoming disgusting for Jeffrey that he had to put on a heavy break in the middle of the road.
"Can we please not talk about that... please... I'm no longer in the mood to drive..." He turned off the engine in the middle of the road while giving the key to Sabrina.
While Sabrina was about to drive, he turned on the GPS to direct Sabrina to where they were heading to.
"Were you also in prison with him?" Jane asked but Jeffrey heard the conversation, he couldn't say anything but put on an earpod so that he wouldn't listen to their conversation.
"Yeah... all of us were in prison except for his woman driving the car... Jeffrey seems nice and I don't think he'll betray us... what do we even have that will make him betray us..." they all laugh thinking it was funny.
"Damn... I don't know if you are his girl... please forget what I said about that girl he's madly in love with... Damn... you are even way more beautiful compared to Jennifer... damn" She begged her while she was driving.
"It's fine... I wasn't mad in the first place and I think I've met Jennifer once... but nothing seems to be going on between them... Thanks for the compliment anyway..." She takes the turn, directed by the GPS.
"So how did all of you escape together... because I know that what I did to him wasn't something that he'll be free in less than two months" she questions them... Even Sabrina that was driving became tired of this conversation.
"Hmm... it's not easy though... we..." Wayne was about to explain but Gold winked at him and he stopped.
"Why don't you ask him yourself... I mean... it's not something that we can share with you... rather you know him better than us.. so he will explain to you" Gold commented while Wayne concentrated on the window with his mouth closed.
"Finally... we have reached our destination" Sabrina smiled and tapped Jeffrey to wake up.
" We are here" Jeffrey slowly removed the earpod from his ear and they all came down.
"Thanks for driving" Sanding handed over the key to him.
"Sorry I didn't tell you guys the reason why we are coming here and sorry I called you guys without knowing what was going on... can we have breakfast here?" I smiled at them as they walked with me into the restaurant.
"Are you serious... we came all the way here just to have breakfast... Damn... you are something else..." Wayne hit me on my back and we all laughed together and same time take the seat
"Waiter... bring us the menu" I called him as he brought out a list of food.
We ordered our food and they were shocked to see me smiling.
"I thought you were mad with us... so why is your smile right now so bright!" Everyone was asked but they were too shy until Wayne opened the question and they all stared at me.
"Hmm" I brushed my teeth... " So you mean I shouldn't smile when food is involved... c'mon... we haven't eaten this morning and I brought us here to eat... Isn't that enough for me to smile" I called another waiter and ordered three bottles of wine with glasses?
"It's alright though... but why did you choose this place... we have other places where they sell nice food... something is not right... talk to us" Wayne became suspicious because everywhere was so calm and quiet... They were even treating us like VIP customers but we were not.
"He loves this place... the last time we went on a trip with Dean... this was the place he chose... I still don't know what he sees here though" Sabrina backed me up as I collected the wine from the waiter.
"Oh! I guess you are shocked because there is no one in this big restaurant... while you were busy discussing me... I texted these people to make a reservation for me... I don't like crowded places... but if you come here during your free time... I'm sure... you won't have a sit" Dean poured the wine into all the glasses and kept the bottle of wine in the middle of the table.
"Now I get it... sorry for being curious" Wayne apologized as he drank up the wine...
Immediately he started drinking the wine, everyone stared at him and he wondered while they were staring at him...
"C'mon... we haven't made a wish...you are just so tasty and useless" Gold sold him and yet Wayne still didn't know what he was saying until he finished drinking a glass of wine and the others hadn't started.
"Leave him alone... he isn't useless..." I backed him up as he sensed that none of them had started drinking theirs.
Soon, the waiter brought all the food to the table and I was happy I was able to put a smile on their face.
' Poor Jeffrey who doesn't have a dime was able to put a smile on my people's faces... Thank you Lord ' Jeffrey smiled as his mind flashed back to when he had nothing.
"So here we are... I declare that... as we are about to eat like a family... let's continue to leave this way..." I raised my wine as we all played chess together.
"Damn... now I know why I chose this place..." Good smile eating the food as he couldn't resist him but ordered for another plate not minding who will pay.
"I want to use this medium to thank you all for having my support back there... I know you guys don't know what was my purpose in going there but you held my back... stood by me... I'm grateful" I pause eating as I congratulate them each.
"I was expecting this speech since but you just frown just because we are discussing your past... it's not done that way" Gold redirected to him but I smiled and continued to eat.
"I'm not done yet...This woman placed me in prison for some months and she still came to me... for help... the reason I don't want to tell you guys at first is that I want to be sure, I can handle it..." I stopped eating while the food was in my hands.
"She flew out of the country after setting me up... she's very rich even compared to Dean... but she couldn't help herself, nor her friends help her" I was explaining and they all stopped eating as they stared at her.
"Despite me being so broke... I looked for a job everywhere but couldn't get one... I still finally had to get employed with Dean... but because of a girl... Dean stopped me... although things weren't so bad though... and yet... Dean still needs my help in something... the same thing with this lady... she still needs my help... is it that I can't pay evil with evil?" I talked and my voice deepened... What the two rich men did to me still hurt my feelings but I just pretend as if I'm fine.
"I even told this lady that my mother is deathly sick but she still wishes her to die... Although she paid me for doing this Job I think... I just made a mistake in collecting such money... Tomorrow, she might also do the same, claiming she has given me money... yes... the world will believe her because she's rich...Why do I have to suffer like this because of people... did I offend someone who placed this filthy curse on me" Tears began to roll down my eyes...
Memories hurt the most... I was happy when I walked into the restaurant but now I'm crying.
"Honey... you..." She tried to persuade me not to cry but I suddenly stopped her.
"I'm sorry...I didn't know the time when tears rolled down my eyes...Again... There is something I want to confess... Before someone here will say something in my back...Mrs. Jane here... I collected the sum of 3 million dollars just to set her release... I know... I know... it's a lot of money but she paid immediately and I need this cash to carry out my plans...I'm not working right now... my friends aren't... so that is another reason why I collected such an amount... I need to find a suitable place for us" They were all shocked after hearing the amount but Mrs. Jane wasn't surprised... she was just touched by his words.
"Jeffrey... I've hurt you... and I'm sorry for that... I promise, I won't hurt your feelings again... I know you have gone through a lot... hmm..." Mrs. Jane drew herself closer to the table as she begged but I don't have anything against her... I'm just happy I let it slide away from my mind.
"No... honestly... I'm not mad at you anymore... I even don't know how I voice out all these words but why don't we finish our food... we good." My mood changed again as I smiled and they were all shocked again.
' What kind of man is this? ' Mrs. Jane whispered to herself.
"Wait a minute, now that my name is cleared... why don't your friends work with me... you know I have a company and once I resume, I'll have to change some staff... both the ones that betrayed me... you know they haven't known yet that I'm out" She requested while I paused eating...
"That's not going to happen... Work with you? they are with me... please don't bring up this statement" I became speechless for some minutes and stopped eating.
