Chapter 17
Heather's POV:
I decided I'd better tell Aemon about it, otherwise I'd be tormented by the guilt inside. But I looked all over the school today and couldn't find out where he was.
The school gate is where every student has to go through. Now I have no chance to tell him before he is surrounded and I have to lead someone to the school gate to save him.
But who should I ask to go with me? I looked over at Edwyn, who happened to be in the same classroom as me, and who had come to talk to me before class.
We hadn't seen each other for a long time since he went to his country for a swimming competition some time ago, but he seemed more enthusiastic than before. As I looked at him, he also happened to look at me, and I looked away somewhat awkwardly.
Edwyn didn't ask me about the fast-food restaurant again, and I didn't explain any more, but he came back to me with extra enthusiasm this time.
After class, I hesitated to go to Edwyn for help, but he came to me voluntarily, "Hey Heather, do you have something to tell me? I saw you looking at me the whole time you were in class."
"Uh, actually I only looked at it, but I did have something to see you about." I said with my eyes downcast.
"Can I help you?" Edwyn propped her hand on the edge of my desk.
"Let's get out of here first, shall we?" I quickly packed my book bag.
"Sure."
We walked out of the classroom together and I said to Edwyn in a very quick tone, "You weren't at the festival, so you probably don't know something is going on at school ......"
"No, I know, I saw your performance." Edwyn walked beside me, smiled and complimented, "You sang so beautifully, and your dress that day was beautiful, like a princess from the ocean."
I couldn't help but roll my eyes and had to stop and face Edwyn and say, "You've said that many times, Edwyn, that's not what I'm going to say."
"Ah, really? I just feel so awestruck." Edwyn scratched her hair awkwardly, "Go ahead, Heather, I'll listen to you carefully this time."
I realized that my attitude might have been a little too rude and frowned, "I'm sorry, Edwyn, I was in too much of a hurry, after all, this has to do with human lives."
Edwyn opened these lips slightly and looked at me in surprise, "What happened?"
"Aemon may have offended Tina, I heard Tina trying to get someone to beat him up, and those people are probably waiting at the school gate by now, but I can't find where Aemon is." I said to Edwyn in an anxious tone.
Edwyn, however, breathed a sigh of relief and said in a tone full of concern, "Heather, it's not as serious as you think, Tina won't make a scene, and Aemon isn't a pushover."
"What does that mean, do you want me to watch him get beaten up?" I frowned at him, "Edwyn, I thought you weren't such a cold person."
"I watched that video and this thing was Aemon's fault first, he shouldn't have teased Tina," Edwyn said looking at me.
"Aemon was just trying to thank Tina for teaching her to dance, he didn't mean to fall, did he?" I frowned at Edwyn.
Edwyn exhaled and looked at me and asked rhetorically, "How do you know he didn't mean it?Aemon isn't as nice as you think, he broke my bones once."
I looked at Edwyn incredulously and felt as if my chest was going to explode with pain. I thought Edwyn was different from the others, but in fact he was also a cold person who couldn't understand how we felt when we were being bullied.
"Well, I really shouldn't have asked you for help." I looked at Edwyn with disappointment and said, "You should have married Tina earlier, so she wouldn't have been jealous to hurt someone else."
"Maybe you actually know these things, but you feel enjoyment about it. What man can resist two women fighting and jealous over her?"
Edwyn looked at me in shock, her eyes wider than bells.
"You know in your heart why you didn't go to Aemon's rescue, because you're still mad at him for rejecting your advances and for getting you hurt. You've wanted to get back at him for a long time, haven't you?" My words became more and more harsh.
I don't want to hurt Edwyn with such mean words, but now I can only use this method to stimulate Edwyn to save the guy named Aemon with me.
"Edwyn, you're so hypocritical!" I said in a cold voice.
"No, I never thought of it that way!" Edwyn argued with a pale face, "I just wanted to be friends with Aemon, but I didn't think about hurting him."
"Is that so? If that's true, you should be preventing your friend's from getting hurt. Of course, I know Tina is also your friend, but Tina is not as kind as you think." I looked at him with a serious face, and Edwyn tightly wrinkled his brow, still seeming to have some hesitation.
"Well, forget it if you don't go." A moment later, I fought to shake off his hand, "I'll go get help from Principal Jenny."
"Wait a minute, Heather!", Edwyn caught up with me, "I'll go with you, the principal must have left."
I gave Edwyn a silent look and ran quickly towards the school entrance. I had to act indifferent, otherwise Edwyn would have seen that I was deliberately irritating him just now.
When we got to the front of the school, Aemon was surrounded by four well-built men. They were all wearing varsity basketball undershirts, all over six feet tall, and their arms were bulging with oily muscles.
Although the bearded Aemon looked taller than them, his body was wrapped under a fat black robe, so I don't know if his body was stronger than theirs. But there were four of them on the other side, so even if Aemon was stronger than them, he wouldn't necessarily be able to defeat them.
To be honest, I felt very scared and trembled with fear. But when I saw them swing their fists, I shouted out in horror, "Hey, stop it!"
They wouldn't listen to me, of course, but I got their attention and their fists stopped in mid-air.
I immediately jogged over and my eyes met Aemon's, and I found him smiling.
Edwyn followed and he looked at the four men, "Dude, you guys are on the school team, right? You get points for fighting, don't you know that?"
"Edwyn, you better mind your own business, your girlfriend is the one who told us to come. If you dare to tell the teacher, I'll beat you all together!" The man wielding the fist said with a fierce expression.
"I don't have a girlfriend!" Edwyn blushed and darted a quick glance at me.
The man grunted coldly and looked at each other and the other three with a frivolous smile and said, "Tina has long said on the campus network that you are her boyfriend, if she knew that you are now with another woman, she would not let you guys off."
"Tina and I are just friends!" Edwyn repeated, his face red with anger, as if he couldn't breathe a little. He never seemed to curse and would only argue with the other person repeatedly.
"Don't get mad, Edwyn. you don't have to explain to them." I said to Edwyn, looking at them disgruntled, "If you don't release them, I'll call the police."
"Hahahaha, this chick is good looking, when we get the people cleaned up, we can come and have some fun." They were undaunted by my threats, instead they looked at me nastily and rubbed their palms together.
