Chapter 26
Heather's POV:
There was a handsome man standing at the door, and yes, it was a very handsome man. I rarely comment on the appearance of others, but this was the first time I had this visual impact.
Even though he is a man, his skin is whiter than many women. His facial contours were clear, his features hard and delicate, especially the deep black pupils, which gave me a very familiar feeling. His body was tall and slender, taller than a door frame, and he wore a black leather jacket and simple jeans that just accentuated his long legs.
I looked at him in near fascination until he called out my name, "Heather?"
How did he know my name? I looked at him somewhat bewildered, and the more I looked, the more familiar I felt.
The face in front of me gradually overlaps with another face in my mind ......
"Heather, don't you recognize me? I'm Aemon," he raised the corners of his mouth and smiled, "I shaved my beard and got a new haircut, what do you think?"
He's really Aemon! It's unbelievable!
Aemon looked at me with a complicated look in his eyes. There was something strange about that look, but I didn't pay much attention to it. I was too surprised to speak and tried to find Aemon in his face.
"You still don't believe me? I'm really Aemon," Aemon said with wide eyes.
"You've changed a lot!" I exclaimed mumblingly.
"Heather, is this your classmate?" My adoptive mother's soft voice rang in my ears, a voice that made me sweat and immediately wake up a lot.
"Yes, this is my classmate, Aemon," I said nervously, introducing my mother.
"What a handsome boy!" The adoptive mother closed her palms and asked Aemon excitedly, "What do you want with my daughter?"
"Hi, my name is Aemon, I'm Heather's friend. I'm here to pick up Heather for the party." Aemon nodded slightly to his adoptive mother, his demeanor polite, but full of distance.
Aemon had come to pick me up on purpose. I looked at him sharply and my heart started beating violently again.
The foster mother glanced out through the glass window, and there was an ordinary SUV parked outside. Seeing that car, the excitement in her eyes gradually turned to disappointment and her tone cooled down, "So, but Heather has to work for me and can't go to your party, and she's going to marry rich ...... later."
"Mom!" I interrupted her loudly, frowning in embarrassment, my cheeks rolling, "Stop it, don't say that in front of my classmates."
"Why are you yelling so loud?!" My foster mother glared at me fiercely, "What can't I say? Don't you forget what you went to school for!"
It was like I was stuck in a swamp, and the more I struggled the deeper I got. Now I just hope Aemon will leave soon and not be here to see me embarrassed.
"You go, Aemon, I can't go." I said to Aemon as calmly as I could.
Aemon frowned, gave me a reassuring look, turned to his adoptive mother and said, "Auntie, if you're worried about losing turnover, I can compensate you for that."
The foster mother squinted at him with a greedy look in her eyes and tried, "How much can you compensate?"
"Aemon, you don't have to do this, I don't want to go to a party." I frowned at Aemon.
Aemon didn't pay any attention to me, he walked over to the counter and took out a bunch of bills and put them on the counter, "Is this enough?"
I looked at the pile of bills in amazement, which was more than the turnover of the coffee shop for a month.
"Yes! It's OK! Of course you can!" The foster mother's eyes glowed, she picked up the bills and started counting them, excitedly saying, "Go ahead and have fun, young people should go to more parties."
I wrinkled my brow tightly and hesitated as I grabbed the money from my adoptive mother and shoved it into Aemon's hand.
"I'm not going to the party." I said, pretending to be cold, "Just get your ass out of here."
"Ah! You fucking bitch, give me my money back!" The foster mother reacted with a shrill curse. She came out of the counter, trotted over to me, and raised her arm at me.
I closed my eyes in fear and the pain was slow to come. I slowly opened my eyes to see Aemon grabbing my adoptive mother's arm, his eyes looking dangerously at her, "Heather is your daughter, is this how you treat your own daughter?"
The foster mother swallowed fearfully and explained, "No...... I just want to help you teach her a lesson, this girl is so ignorant, you have come to pick her up personally, and she still rejects you."
"No, this money is for you." Aemon snorted coldly and gave the money back to the foster mother, "Be nice to your daughter in the future."
Why is he being so nice to me? My heart seemed to get harder and my eyes were sore.
"Fine, fine!" The adoptive mother immediately agreed, the smile on her face could not be hidden, this time she did not count, gave me a wary look and put the money away discreetly.
After collecting the money, her eyes rolled around and she stretched her neck to ask Aemon, "Are you so concerned about my daughter, do you want to marry her?"
Aemon furrowed his brows and looked at his adoptive mother in disgust, "You should ask Heather's opinion and let her choose her future husband for herself."
"Her? Who is she to make choices, she was raised by us." The foster mother said disdainfully.
"Come on, Aemon, I'll go with you." I stepped forward and pulled Aemon along.
I can't let him talk to my foster mom anymore, I'm afraid he'll get sick of me for it.
I pulled Aemon out of the cafe and walked some distance forward before stopping. After I calmed down, I suddenly realized that I hadn't changed my clothes, Aemon's car was still in front of the cafe, and I was still holding Aemon's hand.
"I'm sorry! I got too excited just now." I immediately let go of my hand and lowered my head somewhat hastily to explain, "My mother she ......"
"I know, you're not like her, there's nothing to say to people like that." Aemon's gentle voice rang out above my head.
"Thank you, Aemon, I'll pay you back for that money." I said as I lifted my head and looked at him seriously.
Aemon smiled and suddenly spread his arms, "How do I look now? You didn't answer earlier."
"Very handsome, really." I said sincerely.
I felt a little embarrassed again after saying that and lowered my head again.
"If what you say is true, I'll keep this image from now on." Aemon said with a smile.
My heart beat faster again, what did Aemon mean by this? Why does he care so much about what I think?
"You ......"
"I ......"
Aemon and I spoke at the same time, glanced at each other, and then both laughed.
"Ladies first, what do you want to say?" Aemon asked with a smile.
"Oh, I wanted to ask, to ask ......," I whispered, a little nervous, "to ask why you came to pick me up."
"Edwyn asked me to come, he was getting ready for his birthday party so he asked me to pick you up." Aemon explained.
I didn't bother to look at his expression, but when I heard this answer, my restless heart felt like a pot of cold water had been poured on it.
"I'm going to bring the car over, you wait here for a while." Aemon said again.
I nodded in a mental trance, I should have turned him down. I had agreed to go to the party with Edwyn just to see him, but now it seemed like I didn't have to go anymore, and there was the threat of Tina.
But ......
I watched Aemon's back as he walked away. I wanted to stay with him a little longer, to stay glued to him. He asked me to wait for him here, and I didn't leave a single step. I don't know why, but I developed a strong attachment to Aemon, and I couldn't leave him.
A few moments later, Aemon drove up in his car and he deliberately came down and opened the door for me.
The car was driving slowly on the road, and the car was very quiet. I did not dare to disturb Aemon, sitting quietly in the passenger seat, only occasionally peeking at him.
Suddenly, a sharp ringing sound rang, it was the incoming call from my cell phone.
I opened my phone and looked at it, my pupils cringed, and immediately hung up in a panic.
--It's Tina's phone!
Immediately after, the phone began to vibrate again, Tina passed a few photos over ......
