Chapter 35

Heather's POV:
"Is that so?" Aemon asked me this. Suddenly, I felt his skin become hot, and the water temperature around me went up.
I glanced around and when I turned my eyes back again, Aemon was gone and the big black wolf that had just surfaced in my mind appeared in front of me.
"Oh my God, it's really you!" I covered my mouth in surprise and looked at him incredulously, "That big black wolf in the fir forest is you? You're Aemon?"
The big black wolf tilted its head at me. Suddenly, a beam of bright light hit me, and Bria immediately slapped Aemon's head and said urgently, "Change back!"
"Hey, who are you guys?" The man in the guard's uniform approached us, but instead of being afraid of him, I was taken aback by Bria's behavior.
"Oh, Bria, you're hitting me too hard." I frowned at Bria, and was just about to hide the big black wolf when a big hand took mine.
"I'm fine, Heather," Aemon turned human again and he frowned at the approaching guard, "He may have seen me earlier."
"It's nothing, I can make him lose that memory." I said.
Aemon turned his head to look at me in surprise, "Is that your ability too? That's awesome."
Hearing Aemon's compliments, I felt a little embarrassed and a little smug. I am now immensely glad that I am a mermaid, otherwise I would have been inferior because of Aemon's identity.
"Hmm." I responded, turned my head to the guard, opened my lips slightly, and sang a song. The mermaid's voice has the ability to bypass human memory.
At the sound of my song, the guard's steps suddenly paused for a moment. By the time he stepped forward again, we were all back to our human selves.
"Sir, ma'am, what are you doing here?" The guard asked us, his eyes still a little dull, "Someone just disappeared around here, you better go back to your room and stay there, and come back out during the day."
"Thanks for the heads up, but it's our friend that's missing." Bria looked at the guard and said, "Now that we've found her, as you can see, she just went for a swim in the ocean."
"Oh, that's wonderful, I'm going to tell the others the good news." The guard finished, smiled, turned around and left the place.
"Is he still awake?" Aemon asked in disbelief.
"Yes, his memory is still being reorganized. When he gets back, he'll tell people that I was just swimming in the ocean." I explained to Aemon.
"But ......" Aemon hesitated and said, "Tina said she hurt you, I've sent her to the police, she should tell the police the truth."
"Tina won't, her family will be there to save her." I said faintly, "She's a girl who won't admit her mistakes or apologize, and even if she wanted me dead, she'd be remorseful for it."
"But this is good, others will not suspect the reason for the disappearance, otherwise it is also difficult to explain." I said with relief.
When I recovered my memory, the hardships of the past eighteen years suddenly became irrelevant. There is nothing more important than avenging my parents.
"I won't let her hurt you again." Aemon looked at me and said in a serious tone.
"Thank you, Aemon. and I'm not going to put up with the bullying anymore, I'm going to get stronger." I said.
"What do you want to do?" Aemon asked, looking at me.
"Noble future young chief, if possible, we would like to borrow your neighboring land to train the princess, only then can we get rid of the traitor Clemm." Zoie said in an aside, she probably saw my dilemma.
I couldn't bring myself to make such an unreasonable request, after all, the territory is the most important thing for the community. What should I do if Aemon refuses? I nervously waited for Aemon's answer.
"Of course, I'm glad you'd like to be guests in our pack." Aemon said immediately, with hardly any hesitation, as warmly as if inviting someone to his home.
"But will your people agree? And your parents." I asked uneasily.
"I'll convince them, and Zoie said it's not just about your pack, it's about our habitat too, it would be a disaster for us all if Clemm got the sea scales, my parents would understand." Aemon said.
"Why do you trust us so much?" I asked in disbelief. aemon didn't even know Clemm yet he chose to be on the same side as us without hesitation.
Aemon looked at me with sincere eyes, smiled and said, "I don't believe them, I only believe you, you are the only one in this world who won't lie to me."
I stared blankly at Aemon, my heart throbbing and sweet emotions growing in my heart.
Why? Why do you say that? Why do you look at me with such eyes? Is it because you like me?
These questions came to my mind and I wanted to ask them, maybe so I could get the answers I wanted. But now there are more than just the two of us here, and I still can't ask.
"Okay, let's go to Aemon's forest now! You'll have more chances to chat alone there." Bria looked at us with ambiguous eyes.
By this time the sky was a little brighter, and the orange sunrise rendered the sky on the horizon, while illuminating the whole sea with a warm watery glow, stunningly beautiful.
As we prepared to leave, Edwyn came to me, his arms and legs bandaged, his eyes hesitantly looking at me.
"Edwyn, is that what you've done?" I looked at him in surprise.
"It's okay, a minor injury." Edwyn said, sweeping her eyes behind me.
I followed his line of sight back and found that he was looking at Aemon who was refueling his car. and Aemon was also looking our way and now he was coming towards us with a bad look in his eyes.
"What do you want? Still want to get beaten up?" Aemon's strong and tall body was in front of me, and because the weather was a bit hot lately, he only wore a black undershirt, which just highlighted his perfect body.
"You don't have to be so wary, I just want to say something to Heather and it's not your place to care." Edwyn's exasperated voice pulled me back to my thoughts.
"I can manage as long as I want to." Aemon pressed closer to him, "You better get out of here."
"It's okay, Aemon, let him talk." I stepped forward and took Aemon's arm.
The muscles in my hands were firm and elastic, and I couldn't help but think back to Aemon's naked body that flashed through my mind just now, and I felt my body get a little hot and my cheeks redden to a blush.
Aemon looked back at me, and although he looked a little worse for wear, he stepped aside to make it easier for Edwyn to talk to me. He didn't move too far away from me and stood right behind me, which made me feel safe.
"Edwyn, what are you going to say?" I looked over at Edwyn.
"You've become like a different person." Edwyn said, "Prettier and more confident."
"Thank you for the compliment, people always change." I gave a smile.
Edwyn smiled bitterly and said with forlorn eyes, "You are always so polite to me, in fact, in your heart, I am not even considered a friend."
I pursed my lips without denying it.
"No one gets that fast, but it doesn't matter as long as it's good for you." Edwyn returned to the earlier topic again, "You're much more attractive to me now, but I won't force you anymore, I know you don't like me."
He gave Aemon a look and lowered his voice to say, "I know who you like."
I looked up at him sharply, my eyes much colder, "Edwyn, what exactly are you trying to say?"
Edwyn was stunned by my look, and only after a moment did she laugh, "Looks like I guessed right, I didn't think you'd have such a strong side."
"Rabbits bite when they're anxious." I said, "I'll leave if that's okay."
"Wait, Heather, I just want to apologize to you." Edwyn called out to me, bending over with difficulty, and said sincerely, "I'm sorry I had too much to drink that day before I forced myself on you."
"It's okay." I looked at Edwyn, "I hope you'll stay sober in whatever you do in the future."
"I will, but still, I won't give up on you." Edwyn's eyes were insistent.
I frowned and said, "Edwyn, it's impossible for us, it was impossible before and it's even more impossible after, and most importantly, I don't like you."
Edwyn looked at me without saying a word, her eyes not flinching in any way.
"Well, I'm leaving, Edwyn," I said breathlessly.
After saying goodbye to Edwyn, we made a trip back to Reims City. I asked Bria to go to the cafe for me and give my foster parents a generous alimony payment. I would never return to them again, and it was the only thing I could give them, and it was something they had always wanted.
I sat in Aemon's car and saw how happy they were with the money, but I couldn't help the sadness that welled up in my heart. They really didn't care whether I would go back or not, they only cared about how much money they could get in exchange for me.
I wiped my tears, withdrew my eyes, and said to Aemon, "Let's go, Aemon, after that I'll say goodbye to being human once and for all."
