Chapter 20
Heather's POV:
The next person to investigate was Tina, and as she passed me, she whispered in my ear, "Nosy bitch!" I frowned at her, my body stiffening a bit.
"Heather, are you okay? You look a little pale." Edwyn came over toward me just at that moment, which brought more than a little jealousy into Tina's eyes.
Before Edwyn came over, she withdrew her eyes and went into the principal's office.
I took it upon myself to pull away from Aemon, "I'm fine, Edwyn, why isn't Aemon here?"
"He ah ......" Edwyn averted her eyes unnaturally, looking a little hesitant.
"What's wrong with him, Edwyn, can you be more clear?" I asked with some urgency, Edwyn's attitude made me a little anxious, and I didn't know why I was so concerned about Aemon.
"Okay." Edwyn sighed, looked at me and said, "Principal Smith said Aemon was hospitalized and the police ruled him out."
"How did he get hospitalized? Is it badly hurt?" I wrinkled my brow in worry.
Principal Smith had to leave for something, and now it's just Edwyn and me.
Edwyn suddenly came up to me and lowered her voice and said, "Heather, you saw those pictures, Principal Smith showed them to me ahead of time, do you think that's a wound that someone could create?"
I looked at Edwyn in shock, and hearing him say that brought the pictures back to my mind.
It really didn't seem like a wound that a human could make, more like a wound caused by a saw tooth sinking into flesh and tearing it hard, a wound I had seen in the town of Sfield.
The town of Sfield has many fishermen, and one year the fishermen were shipwrecked at sea, and the bodies that were recovered also had such wounds, but those kinds of wounds were more dense.
At that time, everyone said there were piranhas in the sea, which deepened my phobia of the deep sea.
Seeing that I didn't say anything, Edwyn came over and said, "The police think it should be a wild animal that bit the person to death, exactly what kind of wild animal they can't be sure yet. But it could be that the killer deliberately faked it, you should be careful lately."
"Principal Smith said that this kind of thing can not be publicized, it will cause public panic. But I think everyone has the right to know, and if it really is a beast, everyone can also prevent it in advance, don't you think?" he asked.
My thoughts were completely caught up in the previous sentence that Edwyn said, and I had another bad feeling in my heart, after all, I was the one who had seen the beast.
Could the big wolf have done it? Or was it one of its kind? I remembered my previous nightmare again. Reims City is so dangerous, why did that nightmare guide me to this place?
"Heather?" said Edwyn, calling my name again, "What's wrong with you? You look so bad, did it scare you?"
"No, I'm just feeling a little confused in my head." I said wearily.
I really wanted to tell someone else about this, to Bria or Edwyn for that matter, but I was worried that they too would think I was lying and that the horror would implicate them.
"Then hurry back to class and get some rest. Be careful these days, especially don't go to the fir forest behind the school." Edwyn admonished.
"I see, thank you, Edwyn," I said, "By the way, is Aemon hurt badly?"
"It still seems pretty serious, I heard he had stitches and he's not awake yet." Edwyn frowned, looking a little worried too.
"I want to go see him, do you want to come with me?" Edwyn asked me.
"No, Edwyn, I don't have time to go." I made a random excuse and hung my head sheepishly.
If this was all done by the big wolf in the cedar grove, then perhaps its reason for doing so had something to do with me, and I couldn't go near anyone else until I knew the truth of the matter.
With that in mind, I said goodbye to Edwyn and went to the cedar grove.
I hadn't been here since the art festival. The forest hadn't changed much, only the barren grass seemed to have grown more densely, but I couldn't find the black wolf, and there was nothing tied to the tree trunks.
Wait, tying? A wolf can tie things and give people dresses, shoes and gold coins!
I was too slow to realize something horrible - this black wolf was so smart that he could not only understand human words, but also knew exactly what human needs were.
It is possible, then, that he would bite those who have been near me. Which of course includes Aemon, and maybe Bria or Edwyn next, and my foster parents ......
Even if this was not done by black wolves, it could have been done by other wolves. They are a group of animals with intelligence, perhaps more intelligent than humans.
Could he be the legendary werewolf? No, no, no, that's not possible.
This is terrible, why would they do this? This answer I can only ask Black Wolf, no matter what, I am sure he will not hurt me.
It was daytime and the wolves might not come out at this time, so I thought I would wait until the evening to bring food.
But when I brought the beef over at night, the big black wolf still didn't show up. Later on several nights, I never waited for the big wolf.
A week passed and Edwyn went to see Aemon at the end of the week. he said that Aemon was really badly hurt and was still not awake and was still bleeding from the gauze wrapped around his body.
Edwyn made a point of coming to tell me that he knew I cared about Aemon too. tina was with him and when she heard Edwyn's words, she hooked her lips and said she deserved it.
I subconsciously frowned at her, but she didn't care about my gaze.
"Tina! You really shouldn't say such hurtful things, don't you think you've caused enough trouble?" Edwyn looked at her reproachfully.
Tina shrugged her eyebrows and said obediently, "Okay, Edwyn, I'll watch the way I talk."
It seems that only Edwyn can control Tina. I really hope that Edwyn can tame this witch sooner.
"Any leads from the police yet?" I asked Edwyn.
"It seems to be a little bit of a lead, they found out about an acrobatic troupe where several animals were lost because of staff negligence, and the police suspect that the animals did it." Edwyn said.
"But why did the animal only kill those four people? They all happen to have had trouble with Aemon." I felt a little puzzled, intuiting that this was not the truth of the matter.
Edwyn froze for a moment and looked at me in surprise, "Heather, do you think this is man-made? But according to you, the only one with a motive to kill is Aemon, but now he's hurt too."
"Of course, you could say it was a ruse to escape suspicion, and then he was too ruthless with himself. Even if that's true, why did he leave out one more person?" Edwyn said at the end and turned her eyes to Tina.
Yes, if this is really Aemon's revenge, he should not spare Tina who found someone to beat him up.
So, it wasn't Aemon that I suspected. i just accidentally said what was in my mind, and I didn't want to tell the object of my suspicion.
"Don't look at me like that, Edwyn. i just wanted to find someone to teach Aemon a lesson, i didn't want to kill him." Tina said with a grimace, frowning and pretending to be pathetic.
This is not the same as what she said on the phone, she clearly said at the time to kill people also relationship, but I know I can not expose her.
I really didn't want to stay with Tina anymore and found an excuse to leave.
"Wait a minute, Heather, there's something else I need to tell you." Edwyn pulled me back.
"What is it, Edwyn," I asked, looking at him.
"I actually came to see you today to say goodbye, I'm going abroad again tomorrow for a competition. You must protect yourself until the police catch those animals." Edwyn said seriously.
Edwyn has been out of the country for competitions before, but would come back within a few days. I don't understand why he made a special trip to tell me this time.
Edwyn looked at me expectantly, while Tina looked at me resentfully. I had to quickly nod and respond, "Thank you, Edwyn, and you be safe."
"Is that all you have to say to me?" Edwyn stared at me with a frown.
I thought carefully, nodded and said, "Yes, I have nothing else to say, Bria is still waiting for me."
"Well, I'll see you then." Edwyn sighed and waved at me, "Heather, I'll see you when I get back."
Tina's eyes were on fire and I waved at him and quickly got out of there.
The day after Edwyn left, Principal Smith told me that Aemon, who was lying in the hospital, had woken up.
Immediately after, the police issued an exact announcement on television: due to the mistake of an acrobatic troupe staff, several illegally arrested animals ran out of the zoo, including a brown bear attacked five Gnas students, resulting in four deaths and one injury, most of the animals have been released back into the wild forest, the most dangerous brown bear has not yet been found, please travel carefully and pay attention to safety... ...
