Chapter 58

Heather's POV:
Damn it, which asshole called the police and you stupid guys believed it. The officer grumbled as he walked over to unchain my hands.
Wait, Superintendent, we can't let them go before the matter is clearly investigated. The officer who was interrogating me came up to block it.
Damn George, what is there to investigate, do you want to get me fired? The man known as the Superintendent tugged at George's collar in agitation, and he looked terrified of Aemon's parents.
This surprised me a little; I didn't know Aemon's status in the city yet. Since he wasn't popular at school, I'd always assumed he was the same as me.
Okay, I get it, you calm down! George said, holding up his hand.
My eyes moved down a little and found Matt pointing his gun at George.
It was finally time to get out of this place, they took away all the electronic devices I had on me when I came in, I don't know how long I've been in here.
Come on, this lady, Mr. Carpe and his wife are waiting for you outside. Matt said to me respectfully.
He looked less like a police officer and more like a waiter who thought he was guiding the guests.
Where is the gentleman I came in with? I mean my boyfriend.
Although I had already guessed the answer, I asked uneasily, while walking quickly toward the door.
Of course, he is also waiting for you outside. Matt said with a smile.
Thanks. I was already running out the door.
Aemon and his parents were standing in the lobby of the police station talking, but my eyes stayed locked on Aemon and I quickly ran towards him.
Aemon! I jumped into his arms, and Aemon quickly wrapped his arms around me.
Are you hurt? I looked up at him nervously.
No. Are you? Aemon touched my cheek and looked at me with equal concern.
I'm fine too, I'm just a little worried about you. I said.
I buried my face into his chest once again and didn't want to part for a moment.
Ahem! Aemon's father coughed twice, "Matt, thank you very much for this time, if there's nothing else, can we go now?"
I then realized that Aemon's parents were still here, and I immediately left Aemon's embrace with some shame, but Aemon still held my hand and wouldn't let go.
I had to frown at him and Aemon just looked at me and smiled.
The superintendent's face also had a smile on it, and he said in an almost curt tone, "Sure, there's nothing wrong with it already, do you need me to prepare your car for you?"
Thank you, no, we drove here. Aemon's father said.
Okay, then I'll walk you out. The superintendent volunteered to come forward and push open the glass door, he was becoming more and more like a waiter.
We left the police station like that, which was a lot easier than I thought it would be, but I didn't see Tina until we left.
On the way to the parking lot, Aemon and I walked behind, holding hands, while Aemon's parents walked ahead in silence, my hands already sweating from the tension.
It's okay, Heather , just relax. Aemon whispered with his head pressed against my ear.
When we got to the car, Aemon's father suddenly said, "Aemon, you drive."
After saying that, he opened the passenger door and took the lead to sit in it, which means ......
I immediately turned my head to look at Aemon, frowned slightly and asked him for help with my eyes: 'Help me, I don't want to sit with your mother, the sweat on me will wet the cushion!'
I don't know if Aemon read my eyes, he had a hateful smile on the corner of his mouth and then mercilessly got into the driver's seat.
It seemed there was no way out.
I took a deep breath, turned sideways to open the car door and smiled at Aemon's mom, "You can go in first."
Aemon's mother also looked a little embarrassed, reluctantly smiled at me, and then sat inside.
But this attitude is already much better than before, at least they no longer hate me, which makes me relax a little.
But when the car began to drive on the road, I began to get nervous again, now I have to go to the home where Aemon grew up, to a home that is completely new to me.
The car was quiet for a few moments, the atmosphere was a bit stagnant, and I thought I should say something.
While I was thinking about the topic, a warm delicate hand covered the back of my hand.
--it was Aemon's mother.
How's that? Did you get scared? She was concerned about me, but it looked like she was also a little nervous.
Ah, thank you for your concern, I'm fine. I don't know what I'm saying, I'm such a dumb girl with a stupid mouth.
I glanced in the rearview mirror and noticed that both Aemon and his father were watching us, one with a smirk in his eyes and the other was frowning seriously.
I had to say something.
Have you eaten yet? I asked, looking to Aemon's mother.
God, that sounded too contrived and it might come off as me being hungry.
Sure enough, Aemon's mother froze, smiled and said, "You and Aemon haven't eaten yet, have you? We haven't eaten yet either, I'll make it later when we get back."
That's not what I meant, I'll do it. I said hastily.
Crap, that sounded a little rude too, I was about to hog their kitchen after all, it was my first time at Aemon's house.
You guys can join me, I haven't had Heather's dinner yet. Aemon finally spoke up, looking up at us in the rearview mirror, "I haven't tried Mom's cooking in a long time either."
Yeah, no problem. I immediately nodded my head.
For the rest of the day, Aemon's mother and I discussed the ingredients.
By the time I got out of the car Aemon's mother and I were on much better terms, and her smile for me became more genuine.
Upon entering, Aemon's mother pulled me directly into the kitchen while Aemon and his father sat on the couch.
I gave him a lingering look and turned to go into the kitchen, where my conversation with Aemon changed from ingredients to cosmetics.
It wasn't a topic I was good at, but I was listening intently, and when Aemon's mother noticed that I rarely spoke, she complimented me again on how pretty I looked and how I didn't need makeup.
I apologetically told her that I liked cosmetics too, but my previous condition didn't allow it. When I told her about my past experience, she hugged me with red eyes.
Poor kid. She patted me on the back.
I was so glad she didn't resent me for my poor and miserable past, but embraced me like a mother who might have accepted me sooner if not for the racial differences.
By the time we went out with dinner, my relationship with Aemon's mother had completely softened, and now only Aemon's father still treats me with some indifference.
But with the help of Aemon and Aemon's mother, the atmosphere at the table was quite cordial.
After we ate, Aemon and I went back to his room.
Now that it was finally just the two of us, I didn't have time to survey Aemon's room before exhaling heavily and then collapsing on the floor.
So tired. I said to Aemon.
Aemon came up and picked me up and put me on the bed, pressing down on top of me smoothly, "Honey, you were great today, my mom loves you."
Could be your father still seems to hate me. I said in frustration.
Take your time, at least he accepts you now. Aemon grabbed a strand of my hair and curled it around his fingers to play with it.
Aemon was right, I still had plenty of chances.
