The setup

“As much as I would want us to stay in bed all night, you need to get something to eat. Let's go". Alex spoke, dragging her downstairs towards the direction of the kitchen. “Sit here and let me prepare something for you. It's still early, the others might be sleeping by now". Alex whispered, pushing a chair for Mina to sit on. “Can you cook?". Mina asked, raising an eyebrow. “I learnt it during the Alpha training". Alex flashed a smile while putting on the apron. “Are you going to cook for the whole pack members?". Mina exclaimed, giggling at the pink apron with teddy bears in it. “Well, watch me do my magic". Alex asked, focusing on mixing the flour and eggs. “Is that for pancakes,let me help". Mina suggested passing him the milk on the top shelf. “Thanks but that's my treat, just sit down and wait for me to finish". Alex said, stirring the mixture vigorously. “But I want to help". Mina pouted. “Fine you won this time around, but you can fill the glasses with the orange juice while I fry the pancakes," Alex explained. Mina stood up hurriedly opening the fridge to grab the orange juice. Alex chuckled and shook his head at her childishness.



“All done" Mina said, helping Alex to set up the table for breakfast. They took their seats and waited for the others. “Mmmm, what's that sweet aroma". Amya exclaimed, stepped down the staircase. “Is that pancakes?". Gina asked, heading towards the dining area. “You guys are up early". Mike spoke, taking his seat beside his mate. Alex chuckled and nodded. “Where are all the Omegas and why is the breakfast prepared already? Did you dismiss". Amya asked, bombarding the alpha and luna with questions. “Calm down guys, the omegas have been given a break today. And this right here ...”,Mina pointed to the dishes on the table. “...was prepared by the alpha. I just offered a helping hand”. Mina explained, looking at Alex, who looked down in embarrassment. “Dude, I never knew you could cook". Noah teased picking up a pancake. “It tastes delicious, I would come for the recipe". Gina said, biting into the pancake. “I agree with you on that". Amya added, sipping the orange juice.



“So, Mina, when do you plan on giving birth?". Amya asked, all of a sudden, stunning the people gathered at the table. This beta female really had the guts to question the Luna right in front of the alpha. “Why are you looking at me as if I've said something wrong". Amya asked, glaring at the others. “My question is not answered though". Amya spoke annoyed. “Why do you take pride in prying into people's personal lives? You really have a weird personality". Mike spoke sarcastically. “You better watch that mouth of yours before I damage it". Amya retorted annoyed. Mina was amused at the interactions between the cousins. These two have never got along since childhood and they have not even changed. She chuckled and shook her head. “Enough! ...." Alex growled. Once everyone was silent, he continued “...how old are you guys to be bickering with each other? I'm disappointed in you guys. Mina is my mate and I don't owe you any explanation of any sort". “But I was just asking out of curiosity. Besides, she's my best friend. What's wrong with that"? Amya spoke, looking down in shame. “I'm sorry". Amya whispered, excusing herself from the table. There was an awkward silence at the table. “I need to go to comfort her". Noah spoke standing up from his seat. “I think I have some work to do". Mike spoke standing up. The alpha was emitting a dangerous aura and no one dared to cross him. “Errm, I remembered I was watching a movie on my laptop". Gina explained, scurrying away, leaving the two alone.



“What just happened here? I think you were harsh on her." Mina explained, biting her lip, something she usually does when she is nervous. “I'm sorry, I shouldn't have shouted at her but she's expecting a child yet, she acts immature most times. I will apologize". Alex explained by placing the loose strands of her hair behind her ears. Mina blushed at the close proximity. “I want to take a run in the pack woods. It's been a while since I did". Mina explained distancing herself a little bit. Alex nodded and bent down to give her a kiss on the forehead. “Take care while you run". Alex ordered. “I'm not a kid, I can easily take care of myself, but thanks for the advice". Mina explained, walking out the door. ‘I think we should hold back today with the run, something is not right'. Venus suggested. “We are taking the run. Nothing is going to happen girl, just trust me with your safety for once". Mina chuckled and rolled her eyes, stripping out of her clothes and shifting into her wolf. With her clothes held firmly in her teeth, she dashed off into the woods purring with the feel of the cool wind against her fur.



Flashback

“Can I get a cappuccino,my usual". Glenn spoke, waiting patiently for Mina to turn around, only to be greeted by the face of a new girl. “Where's Mina and Gina". Glenn asked, concerned. “I have no idea what you are talking about sir". The new girl cowered in fear at his utterance. “Forget it,I didn't mean to scare you. Is Mrs Lovely in her office?". Glenn asked the girl, who nodded. He mouthed thanks and headed in the direction of the office. With a knock, Mrs Lovely ordered the intruder to come in. “Glenn, to what do I owe this surprise". Mrs Lovely asked with a smile, ushering him to take a seat. “I don't have time for pleasantries. When did you sack the girls?". Glenn asked, annoyed. “I didn't sack them. You had better think before speaking. I won't tolerate any insult from you and I think you have overstayed your welcome". Mrs Lovely spoke displeased with his actions. “I'm sorry for my attitude, but do you have any idea why they didn't come?". Glenn asked in a calm tone. “I thought you already knew. Mina left with her husband some days ago and Gina joined them but I don't know where exactly". Mrs Lovely explained, glancing back at the documents on her table. “Thank you for the information. I'm grateful". Glenn spoke, taking his leave. How could they leave without even saying goodbye? Was he really considered as their friend? He felt hurt by their actions.



Later in the evening, after drinking at the bar,Glenn headed home. Upon reaching the door, he shuffled his pocket looking for the keys. Once he opened the door, he laid down on the bed. By the annoying ring of his phone, he picked it up without looking at the caller's id. “Hello". Alex spoke in barely a whisper. “Hello, I have information on the whereabouts of the people you are looking for. Meet at the Glazel's restaurant on the highway at 1pm in the morning. Don't be late". With that, the person hung up the call. Glenn stared at the phone in shock, being sobered all of a sudden by the good news.
