A Tapestry of Ills

Aliyah's POV

My mind was racing as I slipped out of the pack. I needed to see things for myself as I could not understand why Elena's luck had turned and she was now more celebrated than I am. My mother had supported my decision to go and see things myself. It was baffling. Even, Devon had not expected such a turn of events for her.

"When you get there, make sure you stick to the script. Alpha Wesley is not an easygoing person, and if he smells any foul play, he would mete out justice without looking at who is involved." My mom had cautioned me for the upteenth time before I left the pack.

Devon has been avoiding me and it looks like he was already regretting his devious to reject his mate. The conversation had dried out and he barely agreed to see me anymore. The only way left to save my face was to do better. Better than anyone else that wants to stand in my way.

Once I arrived at the Red Blood Pack, I looked for the palace and came face to face with the Alpha of the pack. Alpha Wesley Leone Rossi, the grand Alpha of the biggest packs in the kingdom. He was also rumored to be among the richest men in the world.

"Who did you say you are again?" He asked me, his voice caressing my ears warmly as it smelt of weather and power.

"I am Aliyah, Elena's elder sister," I said as calmly as I could muster.

"Get me the Luna." He ordered one of the guards who looked very eager to carry out his orders.

"Why don't you sit and make yourself comfortable?" He urged and I quickly took my seat in one of the lofty sofas in the living room.

"Thank you very much Alpha," I said to him, smiling coyly.

"What brings you here?" He asked and I swallowed hard. There was a high chance that Elena would have told him everything that had happened, so I had to be very smart about everything I was doing.

"I have offended my sister really badly and I can only hope to get her forgiveness. If she is kind enough to grant it upon me, I will not take it for granted." I said in the humblest and most remorseful tone ever known to mankind.

He studied me intently for a while and shook his head calmly. It seems Elena has not given him details about what has happened in her past.

"Okay." He answered simply and turned to the sound of Elena descending the stairs. When she saw me, she froze and began to move towards us carefully.

"What are you doing here?" She asked me. I immediately fell to my feet and began to cry, just like I had rehearsed with my mother a few times.

"Please Elena, I was a fool for not treating you right all these years. I have been looking for you, what Devon did was wrong and I was never a part of it." I said and watched her close her eyes and open them. She always does that whenever she thinks there is something fishy going on.

"Why did you do all that to me only to realize it now that I am with Wesley?" She asked, eyeing me suspiciously.

"What I did was out of ignorance and spite for how brightly you shone Elena. Can you find a place in your heart to forgive your sister?" I pleaded and she looked at Wesley.

He adored her. Even a blind person would see how much he does, ever since she walked into the room, the only thing that he has done has been to keep his eyes fixated on her. Looking at her like she was the best thing on the face of the earth, even his wolf was loudly purring and everyone in the room felt the unashamed assault of Wesley's love for his mate.

She had gotten better, maybe even the best. She looked happier, more beautiful, and well-fed. Nothing was going to touch her glow and I badly wanted to be the one that was being looked at like that. Devon has never looked at me in such a way, he always acted like he was in a hurry whenever I didn't give him my body, and whenever I did, he only stayed long enough to ravish it.

Every other time that he had to spend other times with me, he had been too impatient to leave and looked like he had been forged to be there in the first pmVe. Which most of the time was true. Wesley looked at Elena like he wants to give her the world. There was nothing Elena asked for that he wouldn't scramble to give her.

He grabbed her and pulled her close, planting a kiss on her neck.

"Baby, she is still your blood and she has given through all of these things to apologize and make amends." He said and I was surprised. He had put in a good word for me.

"Please, he is telling you the truth. Finding you had taken weeks and I had to go against everyone. I even had to leave Devon and the rest of the family. My conscience wouldn't let me calm down. Sleep has become almost impossible, just because I didn't know how you were faring. Only a man had told me that you are now the Luna of the Red blood pack." I added and brought out a wrinkled picture of her we had to cut out of our servant's photo for last year.

"I forgive you. You may leave" she said curtly.

"Please, Elena, you know I don't have anywhere else to go. I have been through so much to get here, how much more is me going back to the pack that rejected my sister and now wants to reject me for refusing to reject her?" I said and watched her eyes.

"Fine. You can stay." She said. Of course, she would agree, her emotions were soft and she was about to regret that.
