The Dark Side
Elena's POV
The relationship between Wesley and I started to get better. Even though I had thought to ask him to move the wedding because of the attack, it just didn't make sense since everything was surprisingly back to normal.
“Why is she smiling today?” Wesley's voice floated into my ears from behind.
“When did you get back?” I said and without warning he planted a kiss on my chin, his lips slightly wet and warm.
“Oh,” I exclaimed, surprised by the action.
“I got back a few minutes ago. The guard told me you were here. What is it? “ He asked, and I smiled shyly.
“Nothing Wesley. Have you seen the Grand Luna? She asked of you about an hour ago and said she called you too, but you didn't pick it up. She sounded worried.” I said, trying to change the topic because I could feel my face turning red for being shy.
“I had my phone far away from me. I was expecting to see that you called me and not my mother. Guess a mother's love is really the greatest.” He teased, pretending to be hurt.
“Stop being such a baby, you already told me you will call me today as you were going to have a busy day. It's not my fault I waited for your call the whole day and didn't see it.” I fired back, pretending to be hurt too.
“You wanted to hear from me?” He asked, almost like he wanted me to admit that I missed him, but I refused.
“No. Just wanted to be certain you didn't run away from me.” I answered and we both laughed.
“I am sorry I didn't call. I just couldn't wait to come back home to you.” He said and I smiled.
“It's not a big deal. I understand. Only mentioned it because we were teasing each other.” I answered and didn't see that the look on his face had changed.
“I could tease you in other ways if you let me.” He said and came close to me, pinning himself to the small of my back. His breath fanned my ears, each exhalation of air fanning my ears with his warm breath.
“Not yet Wesley. I need to be certain. I wouldn't want to be played with or made a mockery of if this turns out not to be what you think that it is.” I said, and he drew in a deep breath before taking a step backward.
“I am sorry for crowding you like that. You know I'm sure about my decision to be with you, right? Even though I had been drawn to you at first sight, it took a few minutes before you were confirmed, my mate. I am not Devon, I would never do what he did to you. It was cruel, brutal, and very unnecessary. Trust me, Elena, just a little more.” He begged, and I didn't understand why I was suddenly overwhelmed with the need to be in his arms.
I was going to do just that when a knock sounded on the door and the Grand Luna came in.
“Did I interrupt something?” She asked when she saw the look on my face. I'm sure that she noticed how red I was.
“No mother,” I answered and hurried to her side, in a desperate attempt to put some distance between Wesley and me.
“Are you sure about that? Your cheeks are crimson red and my son has not been able to find words to greet his mother.” She said, and I laughed.
“Wesley!” I yelled when he still didn't turn.
There was something odd all of a sudden, his mom rushed to him and I saw that his eyes were cold.
“Who are you?” He asked her when he opened his eyes.
I laughed thinking it was still a joke. He pushed her down when she tried to touch him and stormed out of the room, his eyes cold and distant. It wasn't a joke, his mom was passed out on the floor, she had hit her head on the chair when he pushed her.
She moaned in pain and that brought me back to reality, I quickly hurried to her side, trying to get her to sit, but she shook her head.
“Call the Pack's doctor, tell him it has started again, and he needs to hurry down here.” She said weakly and struggled to sit up.
“What is going on? What's wrong with him and why did he act like that?” I asked her as I helped.
“It's nothing serious, he will be fine.” She said, nursing the small cut she had on the side of her head.
“You shouldn't move around so much. The pack doctor is on his way.” I said after calling the doctor. He also seemed to understand the situation and didn't ask me further questions. He only said that he would be at the palace within ten minutes and the line went dead.
“What is happening, mother? Your son just hurt you unprovoked, and you sounded worried when you asked about him today.” I said, my heart scared for what the truth about the situation would be and if I would have to go out there and start all over again from scratch.
“I will explain to you soon. We need to find him.” She said and tried getting up.
“Sit here, I will go and look for him myself. I'm not sure your body can handle another type of fall for the second time.” I said and ran out of the room.
“Wesley?” I called out and entered his study, but he wasn't there.
“Fuck, where could he be?” I asked myself and heard some movements in the room I had previously stayed in before moving to his.
“Wesley?” I called out, opening the door, I was surprised to see Wesley curled up on my bed, moaning my name.
“Elena.” He called out.
“I am here,” I said and walked to him.
“I feel so scared.” He said, and clung tightly to me, crying like a little boy.
