Parents are supposed to be blessings
Elena's POV
The next morning, I woke up to hear the commotion downstairs. The bed was empty and Wesley's side of the bed was cold which meant that he had been out of bed for a while. I quickly got decent and hurried downstairs, shocked at the sight in front of me.
"Mother? Father?" I said in shock. Even though I had sent them an invite for the wedding, I was not expecting them to arrive so soon.
"Oh my beautiful daughter, did he do anything to you?" My mom asked me and I was surprised where that was coming from.
"I'm sorry, what?" I asked in confusion.
"He kidnapped you, didn't he?" My father demanded, his eyes blazing with fury.
"I invited you to my wedding to him. There was no kidnapping or anything. This is the man that I love and want to spend the rest of my life with. Why didn't you tell me that you were coming so early?" I asked, worried as I immediately called one of the servants to prepare a room for my parents.
"Let's go up to my study and talk," Wesley said and we all trotted behind him, up the stairs. I could see the wonder in my parent's eyes even though they tried so hard to mask it.
"I hope your trip was alright?" I asked them as soon as the door closed behind us.
"Yes. We couldn't let him hurt our precious daughter." My mother said and dramatically busted into tears while my father tried to comfort her, casting angry looks at Wesley.
"Sit down," Wesley commanded and I felt the aura in the room change. This was Alpha Wesley, not the cute man I had spent the night with. I know that he could see through my parent's hypocrisy since he knew what had transpired between us before he found me.
Without question, my parents sat down and my mom hugged my hand to sit beside her.
"Come to me," Wesley said and I hurried to his side, sitting beside him and dragging my robe tighter across my waist. I could see the anger my actions had caused in the faces of my parents but I didn't care.
They were acting very weird and it was making me feel really unsafe. It was not that they were not acting like parents but it was the fact that they were overdoing their role. One that I have been denied all my life.
"I did not kidnap your daughter. She is my mate and I love her. As her parents, I would have come to you myself but considering what had happened in the past, I figured you both probably did not care about her..."
"How can you say such a..." My father began but a glare from Wesley immediately made him seal his mouth, swallowing the rest of the words he was going to say.
"She is safe with me and I am sure that if it was otherwise, she wouldn't look as great as she is now. Her bruises have healed and her bones are well again, the only wound I know she desperately wants to heal is the one in her heart which is why I let her send you both an invite in the first place. I do not appreciate what you both have done this morning and I would not want a repeat of it. You both are here for the wedding so focus on that and do not cause any more drama in my palace." Wesley said and I sat there, my heart swelling that he was actually protecting me from the vileness of my parents.
"Well, a lot has happened in the past and we want to believe that she has let it go. We were only being good parents to her. We are only here to make sure that she is fine and not being coerced into anything that she won't want." My father said he had not been expecting Wesley to speak in my defense.
"I am happy. Thank you for coming but the sole reason you are here is to attend my wedding. I will have to check the servants preparing the room for your stay." I said and stood up to leave.
"You can go with her. I would like to discuss something with my son-in-law" my father said, his face beaming with pride like we had always been one big family.
As soon as we got out, my mom cornered me immediately holding my hand in a near-death grip.
"How has it been?" She asked me, eyeing me jealously.
"What mother?" I asked her, unsure of what exactly she was asking me.
"You are with child. Have you not noticed the changes in your body?" She said and I nearly laughed.
"I'm not sure of what you are saying. But, that is not my focus right now." I said and made to move but she did not release her grip.
"You feel like you are better than all of us now right?" She said and I recognized the icy stare that she had always given me when I was at Omnidom.
"What do you mean by that?" I asked her.
"You walk around here like you own the place and everyone is now your footstool." She snarled and before I could even muster a reply, we heard a stern voice come from behind us.
"And she owns it. Get your hands off my daughter before I have the guards chop them off." The Grand Luna's voice interrupted us.
My mother let go of my hand immediately and turned to her icily, ready to give her a piece of her mind.
"Grand Luna, what are you doing here?" I said and rushed to her side.
"I heard the commotion and only managed to come down here to find out what was happening." She said.
"Grand Luna, this is my mother. She arrived this morning with my father." I said, hoping to distract her from what she had seen.
"Well, tell your mother that she needs to accord you with Luna respect or she should leave." The grand Luna said.
"Alright mother," I replied, ashamed of myself.
