The Loud and Quiet
Aliyah's POV
My worst nightmare turned out to be Ashley, she was not giving me any breathing space and frustrating all of my efforts. The thugs I sent to attack her, so I could have more time to ruin her wedding failed woefully.
The men had been beaten to stupor by Wesley, and they had barely escaped with their lives. Something also felt different with her, but I couldn't place it. She seemed different and more fearless, and her eyes were sharper than they used to be.
“Sister?” I said, pretending to be shocked when she walked in with bruises all over her back, followed by Antonio.
“I got attacked when I went for the stroll. Some men tried to rape me. Thanks to the timely intervention of Wesley.” She said tiredly and winced in pain as she sat down.
“What? Were you able to catch them?” I said, pretending to care about her wellbeing.
“They managed to escape. But, I recognize them, and they will be found.” Elena said, and Wesley merely walked past us without saying anything.
“Are you okay, Wesley?” I asked him, softening my voice.
“Yes. Just tend to your sister. I will be back soon, give me a few minutes.” He said and left without looking back.
“What happened exactly? I know that I shouldn't have snapped at Ashley that way, but she spoke to me in a way that I didn't like at all.” I said, and sat down beside her, examining her wounds.
Even though the men had not succeeded in doing what I asked them to do, seeing the bruises all over her skin gladdened my heart.
“I don't know why you both started to fight over something that a good conversation can sort out. I'm perfectly fine, just sore from all the bruising and dragging. I'm actually shocked that they knew where to find me. Someone must have been keeping a very close tab on me to be able to decipher my location.” She said thoughtfully. The men obviously had not left any clues that could be traced to me. All I had to do was ask them to lie low for a while.
“Are you sure you won't have to move the wedding forward? All this seems a bit fishy, and I'm worried that it could mean something more.” I said, knowing this was the best time to start talking about postponing the wedding.
“I don't know. I will have to discuss it with Wesley.” She said and sighed tiredly.
“That's fine. Why don't you let me treat the bruises, since you have no wolf, healing will definitely take longer. So it needs to be treated before it gets infected.” I suggested, and she stood up abruptly.
“Don't worry about the injuries, I will get something for it. Wesley already said that he was going to take care of it.” She said and began to hurry up the stairs.
“Okay,” I called after her and immediately hurried to my room. If any of the men were apprehended now, my whole plan would be ruined.
“Hello,” I whispered, making sure that no one was listening in on my conversation with the thugs.
“Boss, we don't know how the alpha found out about the entire thing. I have a feeling that he knows more than he is letting us on. It had been too precise, and we barely had time to do anything else while running for our dear lives.” He said to me over the phone, and I could still hear him panting.
They had only texted me immediately the plan was foiled, which was why I ignored everything that was going on with Ashley and hurried home, feigning anger.
“I am going to need all of you to lie low. No one must see you anywhere. She recognizes all of you. I'll have the rest of the money sent to you both by tonight. Take it and disappear, if you are caught, I am not you to act like I know you” I threatened over the phone before ending the call.
There was too much at stake for me to hate on her the way I wanted to. All I had to do was make sure I got Wesley all to myself. I deserve it. I thought to myself before going to take my bath.
When I was done, I was shocked to see Wesley in my room. Something felt amiss, and I was scared that he might have seen through my gimmicks.
“Alpha Wesley! I didn't expect to find you here.” I said and immediately loosened my towel tied around my chest.
“Your sister. I have a few questions about what has happened before with her. Why did she leave Omnidom? And why did you support her being treated so badly?” He asked me, and I was shocked by the sheer brutality and rawness of his question.
“Well, my parents turned us against each other. That was where all this began from.” I said, trying not to say anything that will paint me as a terrible person to him.
“Hmm. Are you sure that is all?” He said, his face as calm as I have imagined that it would be.
“Yes, Alpha. That is all. So many other unpleasant things occurred, but delving into details will only break my heart and remind me of things that I was desperately trying to forget.” I said and pretended that I was hurt.
“Alright, if you say so,” he said and turned, leaving my room without sparing me another glance. It seemed like the only woman he looked at was Elena. She was lucky to have a man who would do that, but I needed that to change.
I am the elder one, so I deserve to have Wesley instead of her. I was even willing to let her have Devon again. She had been his mate, but she didn't feel the pain of rejection because she had no wolf. Wesley is mine and soon, I will be the one who he looks at the way he sees Elena.
