Darkness Looming

Elena's POV

Once the beautiful Ceremony was done, Wesley and I moved upstairs to have a little private time while the guests moved out to the ballroom for the wedding party. I felt nauseous on our way up and had barely gotten to the room when I had to hasten my footsteps to the bathroom, throwing up everything I had eaten in the last few hours.

"Are you okay?" Wesley's concerned voice came from behind me.

"Oh, yes. Just something I ate. It's been this way all week so I guess it will go off soon." I said, and the words of my mother about me being with a child were reiterated in my ears.

It couldn't be. It was barely a few weeks and there was no way I was carrying Wesley's child already. Moreover, I had only seen my period a few weeks ago, so I couldn't possibly be with a child yet.

"You think that you are carrying my baby?" Wesley asked and I sighed in frustration.

"I can't have a little private moment?" I demanded with a smile on my face even though I was panicking.

"You are now my wife so that is a no. I already invaded your privates so your thoughts shouldn't be held back from me too." He said and I blushed, hitting him playfully on the chest.

"It's just something I ate Wesley. Get your mind back here before you begin to imagine things that do not exist." I said and he helped me wash my mouth.

When we got out of the bathroom, Ashley was already at the door waiting for us with our next change of clothes. I followed her to a different room while Wesley planted so many kisses on my body, that I feared he would strip me naked in front of Ashley.

Ashley stood there, her cheeks red from his blatant display of affection. She cleared her throat several times, hoping that he would have mercy on her so I could be dressed in time for the next chapter of the event.

"Baby, please you have to let me go. If you do not, I won't be ready in time for the wedding party. It won't reflect nicely on my image if I keep my guests waiting for so long." I said and he finally let me go.

"Bring her to me soon." He ordered Ashley who could only bow in response, before bolting to the next room, hoping that he wouldn't say anything else.

"The Alpha loves you so much, you are so lucky." She cooed at me as soon as I joined her in the room.

"Why do you say that?" I said even though I knew exactly what she was talking about.

"Come on, even a blind person can see it." She said and hugged me.

"Are you okay? You look a little pale." She said.

"No, I'm fine. Just about tired from all the activities of the week." I replied.

"Alright. Sorry about the stunt your parents pulled today. I don't know why they are acting that way." She said and I smiled.

"I'm pretty used to it. To be honest, it was kind of what I had expected to happen. This is even better than what I had expected. All in all, I am married to the love of my life now and life can only get better from here onwards. Did you see Aliyah at any point during the ceremony?" I asked her, hoping that Aliyah had come even though it was understandable if she hadn't, considering that our parents whom she was no longer cool were present.

"Not at all. But I did see someone in a hood, maybe she was the one. You know, trying to keep a low profile and all. Just take your mind off these things so we can have a blast at the party." She said and helped me get out of my wedding dress.

Bringing out the next dress, I opened my mouth, leaving it gaping. It was a sea blue dress with so many fresh flowers attached to it that it looked like a walking garden. When she got the dress on me, the tears began to fall from my eyes and I didn't know when it turned to a full-blown bawling session attracting the attention of Wesley who was in the other room.

"What happened to her?" He demanded coldly from Ashley who looked as white as a ghost.

"I don't know. I just dressed her up and she started crying." She said and I nearly laughed but instead, I bawled harder.

"What is wrong baby girl?" Wesley said and hurried to my side.

"I... I look so pretty and I have never looked this pretty before." I said and saw Ashley heave a sigh of relief.

"Oh baby, you are always pretty. This dress is so beautifully done." He said and helped me on my feet. Looking at his change of clothes, I saw that his suit matched my garden-themed gown with lots of flowers attached at the back and on his shoulders.

"Thank you, Ashely," I said and she smiled warmly at me.

"You almost killed me with worry. Why would you scare me like that?" She demanded and we all laughed.

Once she was done putting the finishing touches to my dress, my hair, and my face, I fought back the urge to cry again. Wesley held my hands proudly and led me down the stairs to join the guests waiting for us.

The band played a theme song and we had our first wedding dance. It was the most beautiful thing and each time, I struggled to control my emotions so I don't turn to the weepy Luna.

Just as we finished and we were about to leave the center of the hall, a figure appeared and I saw the gun aimed at Wesley.

"Wesley" I yelled, pushing him out of the way as the gunshot rang out and I felt a piercing pain in my arm.
